>Look anon, i know it looks retarded in the anime but i swear it's much better explained in the LN
>the source material is much better
>all the best scenes were cut out
>it's shit because it's the boring part of the LN, but anime will not reach the good stuff
Is the only difference between a light novel and a novel the amount of text on each page?
>You'll never get to see Gut's and the great boat adventure animated
>willing read literature
Yes, tell me more about how Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey are more respectable than Spice and Wolf.
No one's saying that Oreimo will contest with 1984; they're just saying that you're an idiot for dismissing them without knowing anything.
>find some random illustrations in the LN
>suddenly become an LNfag because he has those pic
>scenes from the illustrations wasn't animated
>"waaahhh they ruined the source material!"
>needs to write Evangelion-tier essays to describe trite shit like "oh, this guy like this girl," or "oh, he didn't have friends before, but now he does."
Oregairu fans are cancer.
Anons, have you ever considered that sometimes fun things are fun?
>anime is complete uttershit
>read the LN, it's good
Every single time
>mfw haven't read shakespeare
true, the LNs/WNs have the advantage of verbosity, especially when it comes to internal monologuing
animu has to show SOMETHING and a minute or longer of still face shot(s) while mental voice explains is a no-no.
Tirst what came to mind is anime ending of Overlord, it had to sacrifice much of explanations compared to text.
It's just /a/utists who use words in a sense that suits in order to pretend to be the ELITE of 4chan. La crème de la crème.
Don't worry, they'll go back to their CGDCT SoL like always.
LN adaptations tend to be lazily made
There isn't really any attempt to really adapt the story, they just cut internal thoughts and cut down content.
LNs are still largely shit, but LN anime could be a lot better than it currently is.
Actual examples of source material being shit on for a worse story/dumb anime original shit?
According to the LN I read about a LN author, there isn't really a concrete difference. LNs share a lot of common features but they're still just novels under a different name.
>people do not have the ability to read LNs in japanese judging the literary standard of LNs
at least foreign literature are translated by professionals. shit on baka-tsuki is slightly above google translate.
My deep personal emotional involvement in the show and attachment to the characters.
Japan-based anon here. Most LN have identical aspects: extremely aggressive cover with anime elements and designs, about the same size and number of pages with a few illustrations) illustrations (not counting stuff like Monogatari, Kizu being 357 pages long without illustrations), serialized. I haven't read one yet because my Japanese level is still awful, but LN might very well be the manga for authors that can't draw for shit and who can get only some rare illustrations from a co-illustrator.
I actually thought literally nothing could knock Ping Pong off from my AOTY spot after it finished airing but YuYuYu just came and dragged my heart out. Ping Pong's the second best anime of 2014 though.
>Yes, tell me more about how Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey are more respectable than Spice and Wolf.
But none of those are literature?
Just because something is written down and read doesn't make it literature.
If it doesn't have literary merit it's not literature. Malazan Book of the Fallen, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, Looking for Alaska, etc. are not literature any more than this conversation is.
If it's published as book form it is literature.
Just like how any animated show made in japan is anime, no matter how shit.
Just like there's shit anime and good anime, there shit literature and good literature
>WAAAAAAAAAAAAAG I WANTED A SAD ENDING . I HATE HAPPY ENDINGS. I'M TOO MATURE AND EDGY FOR HAPPY ENDINGS
Fuck off edgelord. The only problem with the ending was that it was rushed, but it was no asspull. Specially since it was stablished the system already changed once. So a new change shouldn't be surprising
Follow the conversation, dude.

>Watching LN adaptations i the first place.
Source elitism is fine in cases like F/SN, which is a fifty year old eroge everyone should have checked out solely because of how popular it is. Same goes for a few, select LNs.
But source elitism for a generic LN no one even heard of before the anime adaptation was announced is just pathetic and reeks of desperate tryhardness. Everyone knows you only looked it up so you can look tough in the threads about the anime adaptation. Not to mention that in good 90% of the cases once the anime adaptation ends no one will ever discuss that LN ever again.
>recycled plots, characters and dynamics
>It's a bad adaptation, read the LN!
>it's a bad translation, it's better in Japanese!
We've been doing this every season, for years now.
There's a point where you have to wonder if it's all just one big joke that you're not in on, like Instagram filters.
>watch Highschool DxD
>continue story in the LN because there is a shitton of content not adapted
>worst writing I have ever read, pretty sure the writing is way worse than the average LN
>they make a new Highschool DxD season
>really hype that they're gonna adapt what I read in the LN
>mfw they changed the script heavily from the LN
>drop it two episodes in
Never, NEVER trust KyoAni. They are truly killers of source materials.
>the source material is an LN, untranslated
>ADAPTATION is manga, translated
>READ THE MANGA SECONDARY
>LN/manga translations are chink ESL garbage yet people read them anyways
Why are this so common on /a/ nowadays? I can name 3 shows this season with these fucking retards. None of these chucklefucks legitimately gives a shit about the source material.
More like "it's justified when it's translated because otherwise I can't read it".
>which chapter did the anime end in the manga
>the manga is better read it from the beginning
>Why are this so common on /a/ nowadays?
ESLfags are literally the worst posters on this site. No one needs 14 year old Brazilians raving about some shit adaptation of a shit novel they read through machine translations.
>shit novel they read through machine translations.
They don't even go through the effort of doing that anymore. They read the machine translated manga adaptation instead and complain that the anime adaptation doesn't follow something that is also an adaptation and therefore may have not even followed the source either.
>"it's justified when it's translated because otherwise I can't read it".
It's never justified you autistic weeb. Why would anyone bother reading a manga if the adaptation is there? Most mangas also have shitty writing so stop being such a deluded faggot. It's the same fucking principle.
I don't think you realized I was purposefully misquoting a retarded mindset that I don't agree with, retard. No wonder you hate reading, you have absolutely no comprehension whatsoever.
At least when the art is awful and the manga doesn't have a reputation to be amazing beyond that you can filter bad stuff pretty fast.
If the art is good you have something to enjoy even if the story is shit. With LN the writing is almost always pretty shit so you can't filter trough that. You need to actually read it to see if you like the story and characters.
Did you even fucking read? Most mangas in general are fucking awful too and considering the fact that there are way too many mangas compared to LNs, the amount of shitty mangas is also bigger.
Nigger, you really are retarded. Look at the comment chain and look that I was criticizing a different anon for having that mindset. Learn what the word "sarcasm" means.
Don't bother backpedaling further, just admit you're completely illiterate.
