Like the anon from the last thread said, 90% of this show's appeal comes from the setting, as well as curiosity about where the plot will take it.

I have to agree that I really don't care about what happens to the characters themselves. Some of them have the groundwork to be interesting and have been given the early stages of depth via their backstories, but then they completely flounder it when it comes time to integrate that into how the characters behave and grow. When all is said and done, they're just a mess of poorly executed cookie cutter archetypes.

I'd be sad if Shinoa died, enough that I might drop the show (you need SOMEONE in the main cast that you actually like). I'd be a bit sad if Chess died, since she's a cute genki girl. I'd be sad at the loss of fap material (not the same as a good character that I'm attached to, mind you) if Mitsuba died. That's about it. You could kill off anyone else with all of the sobbing and crying and flash backs that you like, and my reaction would remain along the lines of "Oh no, not boring asshole glasses guy! How am I supposed to enjoy this show now?" They might as well all be that chick from the last episode.

I liked how it was used in Aldnoah, I think they used most of the tracks accordingly. He composed so many vocal songs, I suppose it was difficult to use all of those. Seraph S2 has been a disaster so far. They keep reusing that one vocal battle theme and some songs don't really match the mood. He composed a couple of different tunes but they keep using the same ones so it gets repetitive. S1 was better because the music wasn't distracting but it wasn't really spectacular. I could barely tell there was Sawano in it until I listened to the tracks individually. The OP and ED were amazing though.

So you like her because she's a poorly handled cliche?

The tsundere is usually the one who's all about "your inexperience and idealism will get us all killed, so be more cautious and pragmatic". It's just that in Mistuba's case, she's so useless that she comes across as an idiot for trying to give anyone else advice. This is deliberate enough on the writer's part that you're not laughing at the irony of her being a chronic jobber, but also not really handled in a (good) comedic way. She's also not charming or interesting enough that you're looking forward to the moment where her tactics save the day, if that day ever even comes. It's just another cookie cutter plotline attached to her cookie cutter tsundere character, and one that's been done far better than it has here. It sucks, too, because when the writer actually puts some competent effort into it, it can easily turn a character into the the star of the show.

Iguchi: If Shinoa's cool and collected, Mitsuba's a lot more straightforward, I think. Immediately after she first shows up, she goes straight for Yuu and Shinoa. I can imagine the audience thinking "who the hell does she think she is!?"
Hayami: Fufufu, don't worry about it. Knowing what's at the root of that intensity, I think that just makes her more wonderful.
Iguchi: Thanks! She has this female sense of justice, so you really have to portray someone that's giving it her all, hanging in there. I was thinking that something to go along with that would be great. To be honest, at first I came to this part with a more childish, cute character in mind. She would try real hard to hide this tender heart of hers, but it would be fruitless. But, that's not how it is, I think. She's a hard-nosed military person, and believes firmly in justice, so she'll often clash with the people around her and generally be disagreeable. That's the direction I got, anyway.
Hayami: I think that her cuteness comes from other places, like when Shinoa calls her "Micchan."
Iguchi: Mitsuba's rivalry with Shinoa really is just one-sided, eh? Shinoa's an adult, so...

Hayami: Yuuichirou has kind of a strong, influential affect. I think that his presence makes Shinoa's heart beat {this seems pretty sappy but that's what she wrote, basically}. He's the one she talks about the most, and no matter where she looks he's there. Personally, when I'm portraying Shinoa I think "What will Yuuichirou do next, I wonder?"
Iguchi: He challenges things with his own ability, and isn't afraid to just do stuff, but he has a lot of charm, I think. He can be strangely persuasive, too.
Hayami: When you think about female characters, they're usually weak to heartthrobs like Yuuichirou, don't you think? In anime, you always expect the first thing out of their mouth to be "Kyaa! Yuu-chan!" (w)
Iguchi: Even while saying stuff like "Jeez! I guess there's no helping it!" (w)
Hayami: Even living in a world on the brink of collapse, I bet Yuuichirou's someone you could depend on. He'd have the power to cut through any situation.
Iguchi: It's a power that defies reason, really. In a world like that, he's who I'd want by my side too.

Most cvharacters are enjoyable and likeable, ost is decent, backgrounds are fucking beautiful
If you want a 10/10 series this isn't for you. This is the kind of series you don't take seriously, you know it has good stuff and you know it has bad stuff, but you can enjoy for what it is (for me its mostly for the characters) and then move on onto another series.
