I remember enjoying it a lot, they teased pairings and relationships quite well, the war felt more real and terrifying than it does in Strike Witches where it doesn't feel as serious as they claim.

I like both. But Sky Girls have a more linear and shorter plot than Strike Witches. If only they made it like a more futuristic SW. But since SG came before SW I guess the standing today is expected.

For both series, their concept and character design were made by the same people. The original character design for both Strike Witches and Sky Girls is the exact same, JC Staff only did a shit job compared to Gonzo. Also somehow Gonzo anime managed to have better fights.

Panties > leotards so Witches win by default.
