How often do you rewatch your favorite anime?
I don't rewatch animes, maybe the movies if I really liked, but never the episodic show. I also only give this treatment to animes, since I'm often rewatching american TV shows and such. My backlog is just too big so I'm always looking for new stuff.
Sometimes I get nostalgic and restart a series just to let it sit at ep4 for a few months. I started watching Chu2 heart throb again recently and am enjoying how comfy it is. Absolute garbage show, for sure, but it felt like seeing old friends when visiting your hometown while knowing you're gonna fuck right back off and leave them behind again. It's kind of satisfying.
I rewatch episodes mostly. I plan on rewatching the movie soon but I know I'll get sucked in and feel depressed again after it ends.
This. At first it feels good, like visiting an old friend. You reminisce over old time, relive the fun memories and compare it to the crap that comes out today and get to moan about how much better things were then. Then the sadness starts to creep in. You will never be able to watch it again for the first time. Will anything give you same feeling ever again? Maybe it was only so magical and incredible because of your youth. You won't be able to go back to those days again. What have you even achieved since then? You're still a shut-in whose only solace is to watch Chinese cartoons in order to give you a brief respite from reality, only to come to the realisation that even these are not giving you the same enjoyment they once did. What about when the magic fades completely? Your only friend is /a/ anyway, and if you can't even share that one interest, what is point in continuing at all? Maybe you should end it now, before it even comes to that.
So yeah, that's why I don't rewatch anime.
Every time I lose faith in the anime industry.
Not often anymore, I watched Evangelion around 20 times, but I haven't do it in at least 3 years, I was planning on watch the BD version.
Oh damn, you my hero, I have watched it twice, and the ovas around 10 times, after I finish the LN I haven't watch it again, maybe I should, but I feel the anime is kinda spoiled for me now.
I usually rewatch shit in the winter when the seasonal depression adds to the year-round depression and I just want to be self-destructive as fuck rewatching things that made me feel horrible
I watch K-On! once or twice a year. It never gets old.
Not quite as much as I've rewatched Gurren-Lagann, but I've rewatched KLK quite a bid.
I throw it on whenever I want to be creatively, imaginatively and intellectually stimulated.
I watch K-On! once every six months, and I'll watch a single episode sometimes to cheer myself up.
Anytime I feel like
Sometimes I feel like watching one of my favourites again, but it feels disrespectful somehow. Like I already had a great experience with it, and it's become a memorable thing for me so why would I cheapen it?
That being said, after a few more years I'll probably go back and remind myself why I liked them so much.
I feel you, first time I rewatched my favourite show I was legitimately worried that I wouldn't like it as much, since my first time was a really special experience
but then it was just as good if not better so
It's a relatively pretty episodic anime, so I just random episodes on impulse maybe once or twice every 2-3 months. I'm generally not big on rewatching. So cumulatively, that's about 3-4 times probably.
I watch the movie every December though I might not this year, since it's pretty long.
Only if I am trying to get somebody to watch it with me.
I've watched Initial D First Stage 5 times, and if you count the live action/Legend movies and battle stage, I've gone though the story way more than that.
It's such a good show, too bad the other stages aren't.
Not even b8
It's called ironic seriousposting because I know what a wildly unique visionary I am and how I can post 100% unironic truth and have it still perceived as a joke.
You have no idea what my endgame is.
It's been a while since I've rewatched anything. I bay do Darker than Black again soon.
The only thing I really re-appreciate is rereading Gash Bell once or twice a year, while throwing in the Bari/Barry, Folgore, and Megumi episodes.
