Academia is not one single person. Shun IS one single person. Yuri couldn't just walk into the Xyz Dimension and card every single person. Odds are Shun probably could card FAR more than five people if Reiji stayed in his NEETcave. From episodes 1-25, the only Standard Dimension duelist introduced who could beat Shun in was Reiji. Sora's first duel with Yuya and the six qualifier duels prove how shit Standard is to non-Standard duelists (Sora would have beat Yuya if he attacked Swordfish, and Sora could have won his qualifier duels without Fusions as Yuzu pointed out in one of them... let that sink in: Fluffals winning without their extra deck.)

It is an established fact that duelists from different dimensions are stronger duelists than those from Standard. So much so that Reiji took the Lancers to the Synchro Dimension for this very reason.

Meaning that the Xyz Dimension's chances of beating Academia as a whole was greater than the chances a non-Reiji Standard Duelist had of beating Shun. If Reiji didn't personally confront Shun himself then he would have just carded the LDS Trio and then went onto card more Standard duelists.

Yugo VS Sawatari was pretty nice too since I love watching Yuya duel in a serious state

The cardgame itself is pretty fast paced and fun. Involves in luck a bit but you can 'manipulate' your luck by counting how many triggers that isnt in the deck.
