Except that's wrong, Cell literally has Frieza's genetics inside him (alongside Goku's, Vegeta's, Piccolo's...). He's not an offspring of various powerful warriors, he's a genetic chimaera of said warriors.

That means he has full access to their genetic traits like Saiyan's zenkai, Namekian regeneration, and Frieza's mutant uber-strength, high tolerance to damage (like being chopped into pieces and still being alive) and ability to breathe in space.

A part of Cell's characterization was him testing the limits of his power and becoming, you know, more powerful and shit. And don't forget that Vegata and Goku are obsessed with getting stronger and training, Cell probably got some of that.

Of course genes doesn't give you anything, it's not like Cell came out of the lab in golden mode and as a SSGod. It's just the fact that Cell is one of the most potentially broken characters in Dragon Ball in terms of power.

Luckily for the protagonists, he doesn't have anyone who will wish him back to life, nor he knows about Golden Frieza or the Saiyan God.

Vegeta at least HAS wins.
His ego is justified not only because of his background but because he actually can step up at times, not always, but at times.
When Vegeta's Ego DOES get the better of him and allows his opponent to grow stronger because of it it's at least because he is going even or even winning convincingly. Like with Zarbon and Imperfect Cell.
Gotenks on the other hand lets his opponent get stronger 'because it's more awesome when I win, which I have never done.' Even when the opponent is kicking his ass. REGENERATION

Both Cell and Buu had Retardedly strong regeneration capabilities. Especially Buu. The problem wasn't dealing damage to them. it was the fact that when you did do damage 5 secconds later it was regnerated. for ever punch you trade with them you're the only one taking damage. Cell was weaker then Goku strength wise(Take note of when Goku Teleport Kamehameha'd half of Cell's body away). but would regenerate his entire body in a matter of moments. SSJ2 Gohan was only needed because that was the power required to destroy Cell entirely. Same as Buu

I really loved Krillin and Roshi's moment this episode. That was so great.

Cell and Buu would've been both killed by that move without regen.
