Probably SSJ2 Gohan brutalizing the fuck out of Cell and his ass brood, up to the part where Cell and Goku die. The beam struggle at the end of that fight is up there with Goku v Vegeta in the Saiyan Saga.

I'll go for this. I think the series hit its stride through the Saiyan to Freeza arc, setting itself up with the groundwork of DB while still being different enough with all these new ideas and plot points (aliens and space and all). I love the Cell saga, but it's just not the same; it turns into something else. I think when Freeza comes back as a cyborg and they introduce a new super Saiyan (future Trunks) the show series became a thing of recycled ideas.

That said, Cell is my all-time fav DBZ villian, and his fights are cool, but Vegeta VS Goku for the first time is like the highest point in the series for me.

Vegeta being so fucking butthurt he needed to stoop to using ape mode is exactly why that fight was shit.

That the fight ended with Vegeta under Gohan's giant hairy ass, after Yajirobe removes his tail, is sad enough, it's the idea that Vegeta's life was not only spared by a crippled Goku, but Vegeta was literally saved from Kuririn skewering his ass is the reason Vegeta probably should have just fucking died on Earth.

Nothing on Namek, but him breaking down, crying like a little bitch and getting the shit beaten out of him by Freeza could compare to the amount of humiliation Vegeta went through.

Though Vegeta did a good job consistently making an ass out of himself through the android, cell and ultimately buu arc as well.

I really like the majin vegeta vs. goku fight. it had the best animation and was very detailed. One of the last fights in the series that focused a bit more on martial arts and less on ki blasts
