I directly blame Monogatari for getting 2010s anime off on a really bad track with its hit status. Now you have even more aimless droning fanservice series trying to ape it's stylization and tons of cost cutting. It's not the sole reason but IMO a big one so many late night anime are so fucking boring and full of shitty charters and ideas now and a template for how to please enough idiots while keeping costs and overall effort low. The fact that it's one of the most successful shows ever on Blu-ray just goes to show how far gone this media and it's current target audience has gone.

It's super easy to make, super profitable and an enlightening example of why anime and it's target audience is kind of extra shitty nowadays and few in the mainstream take it or them seriously. This episode is going to do wonders to my Gaen folder.

Oh god that first 2 minutes was probably the best intro to an episode yet.

Seeing Shinobu eating that thing was soo cute lol. Oh god ARARARARAGI UR SO LUCKY!!! TO GET TO SEE SHINOBU UPSKIRT!!!!! Damn Ararargi laughing to recreate that scene in earlier episodes was a good treat. I started laughing along for a while.

I love how whenever we see Gaen the sky is always in that color. There was important dialog being held at the moment. Also a lot of talks about the past. Makes me realize that having Kizu next year was the perfect place. W.e you wanna speculate about Shaft I think it was more intentional than anything. The PV for kizu served enough info for this make sense visually.

Tbh this was a very well directed episode and the art and animation looks extremely well. Probably my fav in the season because it drops so many clues and hints to whats to come and what has happened. As she said it was very vague but its obvious that it will all connect in the end of the arc. The ending scene was done beautifully as well.

This is probably the longest arc of the series to date and it feels like almost nothing has happened. Tons of shows manage to do more in an episode than this is probably going to manage to do in half a cour by the time it's done. The first lesson to getting into anime is don't listen to what anime fans have to recommend on the internet. I'm kind of lucky cause I got into it before the fanbase got overrun with LN/VN waifu otaku that worship half baked writers and concepts. I could never get into it nowadays for the first time if I was going based off of what people said were the best shows cause I'd just assume it was all horny teen oriented drivel with the odd action scene and convoluted droning and largely nonsensical dialogues.
