Kakukaku Shikajika already won a few awards, so no surprises there.

>Awajima Hyakkei
Is this being scanlated at all?

>Otōto no Otto
I know this is. Thank you /a/ for your wonderful reactions to it.

The only other one I recognize is Machida-kun no Sekai. I read the oneshot, too bad no one is doing the actual series. It looks like a less monotonous Sakamoto.

>Is this being scanlated at all?
2 chapters, looks like translators lost interest after a long break of the publication.
>>
>>134073531
Is it just Dynasty doing it? It's not even marked on Mangaupdates. They seem to leave a lot of series unfinished. But I guess that's not specific to them. Groups that do josei are much the same. Too many projects and no interest in getting them completed.

>Otōto no Otto

Why?
>>
>>134073667
Award for being "Progressive".
>>
>>134073615
Looks like it got a tankobon a few months ago but only has 6 chapters.
http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E6%B7%A1%E5%B3%B6%E7%99%BE%E6%99%AF-1-%E5%BF%97%E6%9D%91-%E8%B2%B4%E5%AD%90/dp/4778322487

6 chapters in 4 years isn't exactly encouraging.
>>
>>134073719
It's still going though right? It's one thing being a standalone volume, but getting recognition with so few chapters seems a bit odd. I guess it's partly because it's Shimura Takako.
>>
Is anything of that list really good or it's just some shit awards?
>>
>>134073667
Obviously for tackling some pretty unaddressed topics. Bonus for the MC being Japanese as always. I do wonder how that changes as the series progresses.

Is no one interested in the animation division? Is Shirobako actually any good? I mean like, it didn't look like anything remarkable to me and I haven't really been following how /a/ has responded to it much.

>>134073873
Manga seems alright. Kakukaku Shikajika is continuing to pull in awards, and it's probably not the best view to approach the series. It's good and fairly down to Earth, but maybe other series deserve the recognition more.
>>
>>134073873
Kakukaku Shikajika is really good, it's a story about regret by the end.
>>
>>134073947
>story about regret
not sure if i want
>>
>>134073928
>Is Shirobako actually any good?
It's interesting.
>>
>>134074008
And To-love-ru is super interesting. That's not really much to go on.
>>
>>134073822
>It's still going though right?
Looks like it.
If anyone is interested there's chapter 3 and 4 in japanese here.

Grand prize of the animation division looks interesting. Here's a trailer.

Nothing much in the manga division though.
>>
>>134073987
It's good. I can't think of another autobio comic that shows the author in a negative light without being a misery wankfest.
>>
>>134073928
Shirobako is like 7 or 8/10 on a serious chart. One of the few things good about last year
>>
>>134074029
What counts as a misery wankfest? Or well, what did you think is one? It's hard enough thinking of autobiographies, let alone negative ones. I assume by comics, you're also referring to western ones as well? A lot of them seem pretty neutral or up and down like A Drifting Life. Disappearance Diary, yeah, that might be a misery wankfest. Doing Time was a guy in jail, but had nothing to do with being in jail much. Mainly about eating.
>>
>>134073873
Just go read it yourself.

>>
>>134074029
I'm checking it but it seems it can get somehow depressing later.
>>
>>134074126
>What counts as a misery wankfest?
I dunno, I'm not great with words. I can't think of examples but it's the same kind of feeling when you talk to a friend who constantly indulges in their own misery.
>>
>>134072460
>The Boy and The Beast
I didn't realize that Mamoru Hosoda worked on another film.
>>
This is mostly shoujo and josei.
I didn't know Kuragehime mangaka was this.
>>
>>134074960
>This is mostly shoujo and josei.
For manga: 3 of them are seinen. 1 of them is josei. Two I think are shoujo. And the rest, I don't know.

I remember when Strike Witches got a jury recommendation.

Then how is he his husband? I hate misleading titles like that.

JMAF lost all its value when they decided to awarded Madoka a grand prize.
