Fate route is considered the weakest by a lot of people, and even then, a lot of its fans will say it doesn't pick up until later on in the route.

If you're absolutely hating what you're reading, I'd say stop, but if you just find it kind of middling, I'd say keep going.

Fate is the weakest route in terms of character development and drama, it's not a secondary kind of opinion to have. That's not to say that it's a bad route, just with a lot of space spent on exposition and a general lack of character development/drama with basically everything revolving around seiba. That's for some people to like and for some to find dreadfully boring. The climax and bad/dead ends towards the end are entertaining regardless of how someone likes the rest of the route though, I'd say.

Picks up at Rider Vs Saber, really grabs traction at Einzbern forest escape. Fate route is very weak compared to UBW and HF though.

Fate is the exposition route. It sets a pretty slow moving shounen precedent, then the two following routes fuck with the formula big time. UBW is Fate on large doses of amphetamines, HF is Fate on the same amphetamines mixed in with some date-rape drugs and hallucinogenics.

So basically, you're fucked until you unlock UBW by completing Fate. Fate is okay for what it is, but compared to the other two routes it's a piss in the wind.

Worst part is, since I have the Realta Nua version, I could skip Fate if I wanted to, but I told myself that I was going to do the routes in order, and I'd feel like a pussy if I gave up now.

It's for the best, really. The story builds off of you knowing what happens in the previous routes.
