Nah, there's just so many plotholes. I'm not being autistic about time travelling dynamics, just the characters' actions are really stupid at times. That and SERN's actions are real questionable for such a powerful organisation.

One of the most annoying ones was how Okarin kept leaping 5 only hours back in time to save Mayuri before figuring out that he needed to reverse the d-mails to save her. I think this took up two episodes and it was kinda grueling in the stupidity of it all. I get that he can't automatically figure out that the d-mails were causing it, but wouldn't you think that he'd have half a brain to go back more than 5 hours sooner?

Now this isn't a plothole in and of itself, but the fact that he manages to evade SERN every time and not once get captured is ridiculous.

Well I can't comment on how the anime handled it, but in the game you got a pretty solid window into how he was thinking at the time. It wasn't exactly clearly. It worked pretty well in a very Groundhog Day way.

At first it was simply due to shock and confusion, but as he came to accept that he couldn't save her, he just kept repeating the same cycle since he didn't want to go on in a world without her, but knew it was hopeless. I can't recall if the VN or the anime mentions this, but he specifically says he didn't bother time leaping back even further because he didn't truly believe anything he did would make a difference.
