Both had terrible pasts, but at this point Sodachi's life is certainly worse than Hanekawa.
>Who had it worse? Hanekawa or Oikura?
Oikura had parents who hated each other, and fought each other, while living in a slum. when dad split mom neglected her and herself. Euler suffered emotional abuse (though apparently no physical abuse). Eventually mom dies from malnourishment (mental illness?), and Euler throws her corpse out with the trash and fools herself into believing her mom ran away.
Hanekawa's mom was 17 and knocked up by a playboy who wanted nothing to do with her or her teen mother. Her mom married a guy and then committed suicide, the guy married a girl (Hanekawa's current mother) to take care of Hanekawa because he didn't want to, then promptly died due to overwork, leaving Hanekawa with her, who then promptly got married to Hanekawa's current father. Both want nothing to do with her, she doesn't have a room of her own, is ignored and generally neglected, and beaten and verbally abused from time to time.
Of the two I'd say Hanekawa's situation is actually more worse. Not only is she surrounded by dead parents/parental figures, but the current parental units hate her, fear her, beat her, and verbally abuse her. Literally nothing she will do will ever earn their approval or love. What made Ararararagi so ill about her home was how it had no sign of her even living there. For a guy who grew up in a loving house, that someone could grow up that neglected was heartbreaking to him.
Euler had it rough, but her situation was actually made worse due to her poor mental strength. had she 1/10th the mental fortitude of Hanekawa her life would have been much better. Hanekawa's life is horrifying, Euler's is tragic. of the two Hanekawa's situation was/is much worse, only she's far more well adjusted (even including both the cat and tiger) due to her mental fortitude.
I just want Sodachi to channel all her anger and hatred into pure lust and take it all out on my throbbing, painful cock until she feels any amount of satisfaction.
I want her to grind herself on my dick and call me disgusting and degrade me for being so eager and willing to be treated this way by a high-school girl.
I want her to lock eyes with me and show me
how muchshe reviles me by showing me the seething hatred and death within her.
>Hanekawa's mom was 17 and knocked up by a playboy who wanted nothing to do with her or her teen mother.
Was this stated in the novels? I don't recall it being mentioned in the anime.
> (though apparently no physical abuse)
Sodachi had 12 years of physical abuse from both the father and the mother (the mother just discounted on her, while the father actively abused her. After she saw the Araragi's family situation she tried to fix hers which invited even more beatings because she was "rebellious". After the divorce the mother didn't beat her anymore but raised the level of emotional torture, which continued after her death. That was before the class trial incident.
A lot of Hanekawa's past is not in the anime.
Cat had it far worse but handled it better and became a stronger person (just at the cost of creating oddities as she tries to stay pure).
Math had it fairly bad but the biggest difference is that she barely held on by focusing her anger at others like Araragi.
>Cat had it far worse
I don't know about that. Doesn't get any worse than killing your mom.
Both have their own kind of dark side come from terrible family history.
However, Oshino said Hanekawa is a scary creature who constantly creates fatal oddities like sawarineko and kako to remain herself clean and perfect. In terms of that, Oikura's emotional discharge is way better and safer.
Did Oikura create any oddity that substantially harmed Araragi and forced him to suffer like cat, monkey, snake? No. Her hateful bias sure is pain to watch, but she managed to keep it real. Literally.
I don't think you can create oddities unless you've been affected by one in the past. Hanekawa was only capable of creating the tiger because of her previous involvement with the meddlesome cat
Suffering is subjective. If Sodachi is mentally weak, then having a comparable level of abuse she has it worse.
Considering how scarred she was at the point she was 15, even staying home alone for two years with only her thoughts after being betrayed by her teacher and classmates and absolutely no one ever supporting her would be like hell.
Only out of despise for herself.
>Her mom married a guy and then committed suicide
While Hanekawa certainly had a horrible childhood, her mom killed herself when she was an infant baby so she basically has no recollection of her real parents. Sodachi had to live with the abuse of her real parents for years.
I really hope Wazamonogatari already has her next chapter, I want her to find happiness already. Even if it means she will lose her cute twintails.
Math's and Cat's problems were both self inflicted, but on different roads, traveling to the same destination. Math's life was bad but instead of overcoming her problems, she pretended they weren't there. Hanekawa's life was also bad, but instead of denying her problems, she wanted to be perfect in order to be loved. SO perfect, she lost all individuality and denied all emotions others would deem unpleasant.
I agree with what you said, Hanekawa's situation were the worst of the two and her conviction to be perfect back fired, which only made others disdain her more.
Cat is simply the best.
>Math's and Cat's problems were both self inflicted
Oh for fuck's sake. Maybe their later personal issues, but those were caused by an abusive childhood environment. You're not going to seriously say that a young child of elementary age who is from an abusive household caused their own problems? Had a rational adult been in the same situation, was there something they could've done? Yes, probably quite easily. Does anyone expect a child born into domestic abuse to take those same steps? Of course not, none of Cat's or Math's problems were self inflicted.
I would like to have Cat as my reliever, if you know what I mean.
> (though apparently no physical abuse)
She was frequently beaten.
>and beaten and verbally abused from time to time.
There was the one incident of hitting her. No mention of verbal abuse.
Given the choice of upbringing, I would definitely choose Hanekawa's circumstances.
She tried to manipulate him and pretended to like him, but she didn't do anything outside of tutoring him. She is quite innocent in the end.
Realistically, math problems. It's what connects them.
>that doujin where all the girls get afflicted by a bunny oddity
Sodachi does seem to have more in common with Hanekawa than any character in terms of background, both being smart, araragi's childhood friends, class presidents and terrible lives from the day they were born.
Maybe if he doesn't like Sodachi as well, but it's not like she is a threat to anyone but herself.
Other people can make someone unhappy regardless of their wishes though. The point was that she had basically no chance at being happy if she didn't even want it, especially at that point when the ones who caused her unhappiness were no longer around.
That's a different matter than what I was saying. They were the only ones who could initiate the process of moving on from their situation but the situation is not their fault.
She actually does. Araragi is actually scared and amazed when Hanekawa says her mother looked like a mobile, swinging above her bed. Completely casually.
Plus the anime kind of skipped over the part in White where Hanekawa says she had several "friends" who she confided in, but who shunned her when they found out the perfect class rep had the shittiest family in the class. Her parents unashamedly showed how loveless the family was.
It's kind of why Oshino's monologue about taking their side is total BS when you read Neko Shiro.
I want Ougi to put her sleeves close to my erect dick.
Then, I want her sleeves to slowly descend over my erect manhood so that I can feel her soft, pale hand stroke my dick as I ejaculate all over the insides of her sleeves.
I don't want to see her hands though.
I've been trying for 6 years. Send me an email if you figure out how.
If he figures out how then you'll have already lost your chance at marrying Cat.
>Plus the anime kind of skipped over the part in White where Hanekawa says she had several "friends" who she confided in, but who shunned her when they found out the perfect class rep had the shittiest family in the class
Why would they do that?
She said she lost friends by telling one about how she slept in the hall, another by talking about how her family doesn't share kitchen stuff, etc., without realizing how weird that stuff is. Kids aren't going to know how or want to deal with that kind of brokenness.
It's because of the huge disconnect between how awfully she was treated and how much she seemed to think it was normal. They probably had a lot of respect for her as a role model, so it would be pretty jarring to see that her view of reality is so fucked up. Araragi almost has a similar reaction in Neko Kuro as well.
Look. I don't really like Crab. But if she did even 1/4th of the things Araragi does with the opposite sex she would RIGHTLY be called the biggest slut in the history of anime and manga.
I forgot cat's story
Wasn't she just mad because she couldn't get Araragi
That's another vote for Sodachi having worse.
Sodachi was a useless character. She was just an excuse to add scene time for Cat and to bring Ougi in on the harem. Araragi's trauma was ridiculous, the puzzle was so retarded it could only have worked as as ironic self-mockery. As a character, even as a temporary supporting character, Sodachi was useless. She would have been funny if the story gave any hint that you weren't supposed to take anything about her completely seriously.
Anyway, good riddance. Araragi's harem is a comfortable size it doesn't need bloat.
>temporary supporting character
I have some bad news for you.
And you'll be mad when her being an autistic bitch somewhere else also takes time from your precious harem.
>She would have been funny if the story gave any hint that you weren't supposed to take anything about her completely seriously.
Are you serious? It's crystal clear that she's literally crazy.
>Araragi's harem is a comfortable size it doesn't need bloat.
In any other circumstances, I'd agree. But the central premise of the show relies on people having problems and it can't just constantly repeat the same problems with the same characters. They develop and they transition to new roles, or sometimes fade into the background. It's sad when the characters you like don't get as much screentime, but I like that things actually change. What would Monogatari be if every character stagnated as they were in Bake?
Oh my, episode 8 sure was something.
Why nisio is such a god? Why every girl is such a best girl?
Fuck the fact that there are STILL no translations for mahou shoujo risuka and zaregoto past the 5th volume, this shit totally sucks.
But Araragi is the biggest slut in the history of anime and manga.
>She's all better now
There is still a long way for that, Araragi just found something to partially pay her back for all she did for him besides allowing her to make him her despised villain.
Did the LN also left the impression that she was fine and was able to achieve happiness with a "new start"? Or was it intentional because of Araragi's wishful thinking?
>Download music collection torrent
>Make a playlist of the OSTs
>Shuffles to Parting Gift
God damn, Hachikuji isn't even my favorite but I cry to that scene every single time, and now I'm finding out I start to tear up just listening to the song.
I fucking wish.
The second is just a pale imitation.
And not the good, perfect kind.
Looks like an edit of this pic.
>yfw Dadaragi discovered Tsukihi's regeneration because of her regrowing hymen.
>This is why she immediately pulls a knife whenever she catches Araragi doing something lewd with another girl in the house but is completely submissive when he forces her.
>Math's and Cat's problems were both self inflicted
Is Karen the only normal one in the family?
You mean with her hair down. But short hair is already used, so I expect them to have another hair for developed broken Sodachi.
There are too much short haired girls already, I want Sodachi to have something special. And twintailed girls always look the best with they let the hair down.
Christ it's fucking awful.
I want Sodachi to stick with twin tails, she's cute
You know that's not how it works with Nisio. Her twintails are a symbol of her being stuck in the past without being able to grow up (especially 'sodachi' which means 'growth'). When she finally moves on she will have to change into an adult appearance.
I don't know that one either. It could just be a normal hair, neither long nor short.
No they can't. If only you can make yourself happy only you can make yourself unhappy.
People don't have to be happy all the time. But if you're always unhappy that's also a problem. But in the end you control that.
People can't be happy being beaten up every day and deprived from their basic needs. Sure they might condition themselves to believe their life is happy, like Sodachi did rationalizing that what she was suffering is normal and she might be even lucky since there are people in even worse situation, but few would consider that happiness.
Just because life is hard does not mean you can't be happy. Something like finding out how other people live much better than you makes it harder though which is what Sodachi found out.
Go tell that to someone in a concentration camp mate.
Much like physical pain denying emotional pain won't simply make it go away.
Just because there are people who are less sensitve doesn't mean you can simply change your own sensitivity and what you feel.
Some people could be somewhat happy in a concentration camp if they are very lucky but that doesn't mean everyone can simply choose to. No healthy could be as happy inside a concentration camp as they could be outside of it though.
Seriously saying happiness doesn't depend on the circumstances and personal characteristics you can't choose is plain retarded.
When it comes down to it happiness is an indicator of a good and healthy life and a happiness that doesn't have anything to do with the way your life is would be worthless anyway.
You don't have full control of your brain though, the conscious state is just a small part of it. Even if full rewiring is actually possible through deep meditation as some monks believe, you can't expect some abused kids to achieve enlightenment by themselves to escape from their situation solely through spiritualism and without many years of practice.
Thanks friend, archive died a while ago didn't it?
Math for sure
Hanekawa's 'parents' hate her, but at least they're not missing/dead
Her drunk father will come back later for round 2
Yeah, if we're going to take into consideration the later chapters too, there's absolutely no argument. Math has it worse.
>literally 20 minutes of Gaen monologuing
I'm ok with this
This should be an easy answer. Sodachi had it worse of course. All Hanekawa had to do was fucking as her parents for a room, that's it, she got given her own room because she asked for it. Sodachi had to experience both physical and mental abuse while Hanekawa only had that one incident. Hanekawa being keked by Senjogahara did a lot more damage to her than living with her parents.
And with all this stress Sodachi finally gets an oddity that ends up saving her from her father, then Araragi saves her from it and she becomes dere for him.
Hanekawa's family problems is due to her own stupidity. She's portrayed as someone who is knowledgeable but she doesn't even know how to behave like a "normal" child. She's a two-faced bitch, always showing Araragi her fake side so why can't she do the same to her own parents?
They really look like the chibi versions in umaru-chan.
Only 5+ months until it gets released on BD, friend.
Can't you just wait until it comes out?
Only archive.moe, there is a replacement:
Is she really Meme's sister?
No, her real name's Gaen and she's actually Kanbarus Aunt but for some reason she didn't want her to know. It also seems that Araragi doesn't know they're related despite knowing the fact that Kanbarus real name used to be Gaen (or does he even know about that yet?)
He knows. He mentions it when Kaiki is outside her house.
This episode was great.
>Araragi trying to replicate the first minion's laugh.
And she will never wear underwear.
This was unexpectedly funny
Are you faggots retarded? What is there to explain? The first minion didn't really die and his ashes travelled to the town where araragi lives. this attracted more oddities including kiss-shot herself.
How old is Gaen anyways? I want to fuck her while she wears her loose, baggy clothing.
It took years for him to gradually grow stronger. During that time, oddities were a bit more likely in the town (so might have been a factor in stuff like Mayoi becoming a ghost or Tsukihi being born). Shinobu visiting the shrine was the final trigger for him physically reincarnating.
Holy shit yes, finally someone who understands. Black Hanekawa is infinitely better if only because her eyes aren't droopy.
Dangerous sexy eyes are the best eyes.
They lost the translator that usually did their Monogatari stuff, I think and the replacement is not good enough to justify the liberties commie likes to take in their translations.
That will not help anon, instead you should help yourself.
>tfw you watch monogatari just to see girls act lovely to Araragi
>I mean it's not like they can skip this stuff.
Shaft could have reduced the monologue easily and instead added more filler to the fight at the beginning just like they did with the Araragi/Karen fight in Nise.
you are right, I think. Still seeing CR-style translation but not as stiff would be nice.
In my opinion it's impossible to preserve nippon worldplay so somebody really creative should replace it right. (Kinda like with translating Alice in Wonderland to the other language). Yes, I know it's impossible.
Yes and it happens in monogatari just as much as anywhere else
And this was the episode it happened in
And the episode is not so good because of it
But there is always next week.
To have as close of an experience to what the author originally intended, as translations are supposed to do in every form for media. They are not supposed to interfere and add their own jokes. That's just retarded.
This liar must be punished.
Whenever there is a joke or pun that is competently nonsensical and there is a TL note explaining it it completely ruins the immersion for me and is not funny anyway so I completely disagree with that.
If the joke get replaced with a slightly different one but one that I can understand it's much better.
Sure the original wordplay is gone but I would have never understood it anyway. That's the drawback you have to accept for watching something in a language you can't speak.
But guess what, if you don't think o you can just go watch other subs and not draw out this autism.
It is indeed good that we have subs other than Commies. I'd rather not watch anything than have some talentless hacks who never accomplished anything in their lives trying to add their shitty "humour" into the work of someone who's actually talented and sucessful.
The author didn't intend for the joke to be explained, he wanted it to be a natural pun, the translators job would be to come up with word play that would convey the same meaning while keeping the pun alive but that's hard so you either get halfassed examples like Commie or not even trying like CR.
But a lot of Commie translators go on to be professional translators or in Vale's case working directly in the anime industry, it's just the rest of them that are talentless hacks.
"Kneed in time of need" and "knee chaps" are pretty good. I don't get why the added the bit about patella in there.
Overly literal but okay. Only problem is that I don't know what festival pages are, so I don't understand the last part.
This is the type of shit that makes people call monogatari "pretentious" all the time
and I fucking love it.
IT'S FUCKING IDUKI ALL OVER AGAIN
You are literally in the thread that was made to discuss the latest episode which only Crunchyroll has released. Do you not see all the people posting pictures with [HorribleSubs]? Only commiedevs are trying to peddle their cartel goods in this thread.
pls bite my dick
Prior to this season Monogatari was done by Daisuki and their releases were total trash so Commie was the best by default. This season it's being done by CR but the script is still by Aniplex so Commie is still worthwhile if you're willing to wait but you're not doing yourself a disservice going with the rip.
Gross anon, are you some kind of pedophile?
I would rather this face.
Yeah as long as the bat is spent bantering and not monologuing.
Also I want some batXmonkey but monkey seems really wary of her.
Also probably freaked out a bit when she ate that oddity.
Honestly I want more interaction between characters that really never had any before.
Some of the Hitagi and Fire sisters side stories would be golden, or really more Shinobu and anyone else.
Anon, you need to uninstall whatever program you used to make this.
Because of strong competition.
Tomboybutt > all other butt
this is a fact, you can't dispute it.
This fairy butt isn't as special but I'll take it. Unfortunately there was no shot of it's current state.
