It's almost December.
Have you send all your gifts and cards already?
Remember to not be late.
Do you guys use any registered letter form for the cards to track them and make sure that they arrived safely or do you not care?
I'm in the exact same situation. I'm averaging about 3 hours per card, not necessarily because they're complex, but I'm just a really slow artist.
JSfrom Australia AMfrom NE JKfrom Canada Rfrom UK YYDfrom NY
Your cards are done and I will send them tomorrow or on Monday.
I hope you will get them before Christmas without trouble.
It's £1 bong to send a card to the states or canada without tracking, not paying a penny more.
Re*** in Not, UKWaiting on last present before I send. If it's not here before the 5th, I'll send what I have and the last part later. M***** in ON, CanadaSent card B*** B*** in Holland...I still need to draw your card, you gave harsh instructions
I just got notice that my SS was delayed. Oh well.
I'm still waiting on stuff for one person to arrive myself. At least the vinyls will be done on time.
And this one. Not sure which ones to actually send, both are pretty nice
Polandfaghere your mixtape came today, I'm overjoyed
i promise i won't listen to it till Christmas
I knew that at least you won't grinch me next year you should really use tapes instead of CDs
Oh no, please go ahead and listen! I'm sure the rule is only gifts shouldn't be opened till Christmas so cards are fair game.
>Check the mail.
>There are cards.
>Only for my brother.
The waiting is suffering.
With the company I work with, I can ship for free with UPS. My SS has a PO box, which requires the recipients phone number to ship!
Now I have to pay extra for a really heavy box!
I wonder if next year I can request "no PO box"?
>currently wrapping presents
>then gonna whip up some generic cards to go with
Its not a crime to pencil-whip the gift cards, is it? The serious ones are the cards that are only cards, right?
>Subpar artist capable of stick figures and that is it
Wait since when does a PO box require a phone number to ship? I sent one last year without issue.
Now I am worried because my anon didnt even use a PO box, just a postal store that probably has some dumb rules
>the cards that are only cards
Are there other kinds of cards that are also something else?
Cards that are also pets? Cards that are also food? Cards that are also anal plugs?
that's like the glass card anon glass printed cards to every card guy he has except for his giftee, you wouldn't, he's already making a bunch so just make one more to pack in with your gift
>Things I'm adding to my cards arrived
They even included some ピカチュウガム to it, which is always a fun addition. And I accidentally bought a variant perfect for an /a/ secret santa, which is also nice.
Got caught in a messup on Spoonsanta's part so I'm just making gifts for friends.
Ordered this tshirt for a friend of mine.
3 weeks and my figure has not yet arrived. God damnit, Mandarake. How long does this usually take? I never ordered something before but my Santa wanted a figure.
Well then I hope it arrives rather soon. If they take another 5 weeks then Christmas will be over before the figure even gets here. And it still has to travel to my Santa too.
Ordered mine last November 5 and my packages still aren't here.
You might could deliver it general delivery to them? I mean, if it's a PO box then they would have to go to the post office to pick it up anyway.
I haven't tried that however.
Let's share the misery.
Have hope that these might be for you.
Work continues on the third scarf. A little more than halfway done now.
Woops, forgot to put my name.
I have that exact same whale plushie, although mine's a bit more beaten up than yours.
Will an /a/non appreciate the tsundere tone of writing them a scathing letter about their shit taste if the gift includes what they wanted? Or will they read it, cry and hang themselves on Christmas?
So I just realized that I have shit for colored pencils/crayons. I guess I'll have to just whip out Photoshop and my printer. I request that people post cards from previous years, so that I might get inspiration from them.
>get envelope in mail
>Holy Shit it's kinda early but still excited as Shit
>don't want to open it even though it's killing me
>flip card over
>return address is my parents house
>finally wrapped all presents
>used tags to separate gifts from individual recipients, putting them all from /k/omm/a/ndo
>only need to finish one more, real card, then mass produce the rest and I'm good for Christmas
This...is a nice feeling. I'm glad I signed up for this. Now all that's left
is to be grinched by all five of my secret Santas
Someone sent me that great yandere card couple years ago. On the off chance you read these thread I just wanted to say thanks again. I was too late to participate this year but there's always next year.
>JK from Canada
I'll be waiting patiently
This season has taught me that devils make sweet boyfriends who offer you Chinese buffet. Not so menacing a question.
>Have you send all your gifts and cards already?
Oh God is it too late. Mine are all international. I haven't even started my cards yet. I don't even know what to draw. I need to get some wrapping paper and chocolate too, and find a box, and bubblewrap too, I hope everything will fit. Does it take longer to ship parcels compared to letters? My cards will probably count as parcels because there's chocolate inside. I hope I have enough money for shipping, I almost drained my account because of the gifts I bought.
Help me decide,anons.
I wanted to include something like this in my anons gift, but I'm not sure
since last year's hoemmade stuff got sent back to me,stating that he doesnt need some shitty stuff
You'll do fine! As a test, put 3 balls of dough in the oven for the recommended time, earlier than recommended, and later, and see which turns out the best (After it sits and cools, that is)
>Gifts haven't shipped yet
>0/5 cards done
I'll be fine, right?
Alright, then I'll go ahead and make 2 of those for my anon.
Too much worry about late things around here.
I figure if the outstanding items I'm waiting on are late, I'll just send some random crap, then follow up with the real stuff when I can
For Everyone Worried About Initials Being Posted:
You are not required to post your giftee's initials
Some people like to do it, SOME.
Many just focus on the gifts, you just don't see them, so it seems like they don't exist
There are about 450 people in this SS, a majority of people have not been mentioned with initials
My wrapping paper is so cheap that you can see straight through it.
I don't have enough to double-wrap either.
Why don't you normalfags just give gifts to each other?
That doesn't answer the question, normalfag.
Why do you do this?
Not him but my friends and I do it because it's funny. We spend Christmas open up and laughing at all the silly cards we get from /a/nons. It's fun. Try it some time with your friends
Tell me all their initials. Yours too.
Bart, I finished your card, will send out tomorrow. Surely, surely there is only one bart posting in these threads. Surely.
CFof NY JVof FL ZPof VA
Your gifts are in the mail, wrapped. They're coming from a /k/ommando; you should be able to tell by the return address. Should be there the 30th of this month
JMof United Kingdoms FSof MI
Your cards are coming first class; they should be there by next week.
>finally done with all my secret Santa recipients
Feels gud. Now to wait on the inevitable fallout as I
I'm not even /k/ommando, but you can't even begin to realize how mad I was when I realized that I ran out of my
wrapping paper with rifle schematicslast year and I had no way to get more.
SC from CTI went a little overboard this year. Still waiting for a couple of things in the mail, but if it becomes too late I'll just send what I have now and send a second package later.
Just waiting for late card assignments now.
IL femanon here,I got your CD- thanks a lot! It was fun to listen to while driving home for Thanksgiving. Expect a thank you card in the mail some time soon. Looking forward to next year. Are you going to do something similar for V/a/lentines day?
Late cards sign up ends on the 30th.
I got someone I already had three years ago last year, so I asked to switch. If someone notices that they got their friend, surely they'd do the same? I like the idea that your /ss/ is someone you don't know.
I still ended up sending the guy I switched a card, though.
The idea of it just feels wrong.
Why not just give each other presents if you're already cringey fuckbuddies? To me this isn't about showing off goofy funny internet gifts to friends. This event is me giving gifts to friends.
>Having friends seems like a sensible distinction.
You are disillusioned to the point where it's almost unbelievable. The only reason he brought it up is in relation to /ss/ in the first place. Next you'll tell me no one on /a/ actually has friend(s) because they don't actively talk about them. Cue the greentext responses to fit in.
Stop projecting. Since when has /a/ culture revolved around who can and can't participate and for what reasons? The only people you should be concerned about are crossboarders or people off-site.
I don't doubt that but the way it was phrased sounded like you were fishing for replies.
Another reason why /ss/ attempts at dissuading crossboarders from participating never works. Anons have this bizarre perception that only the people that fit in their narrow criteria actually participate besides the grinches when that's rarely the case.
This event has obviously lost sight of its original purpose. It even attracted literal shills this time.
It was fun whilst it lasted.
It's always had the same purpose. The participators take it too seriously now and/or create boogeymen instead of realizing there are just genuinely shitty people browsing their board with them.
Glad it arrived safely!
I'm ashamed of my complete lack of artistic talent, I hope it doesn't negatively impact your Christmas. I tried to make up for it in the only way I know how.
>procrastinated on my cards until it's almost December
Fuck, I'll throw in some new year cards as well since they're going to be late, sorry guys.
Don't worry too much, there's some card exchanges that haven't even put assignments out yet. My country's cut off dates for international mail are like 6th Dec and 12th Dec depending on the region, planning to get them out on the 4th.
And now for the hardest part of making these cards, the writing. My handwriting is so fucking awful I actually doubt my anons will be able to read it. Guess I'll just have to hold my breath and focus real hard.
>handwriting in my original language is atrocious and illegible, despite drilling that shit in school for 10 years
>handwriting in Japanese is shit and looks like kid's scribbles despite writing that shit in a notebook 50 mother fucking times
>my handwriting in English is totally fine, even though I wrote in it a grand total of 3 times in all my life
I'm not sure how this works.
This stupid ass retarded notion that ellipsis are incorrect grammar needs to come to a fucking end.
It's not that it's incorrect. It's that you look like a fucking retard when you use it.
Irregardless is now defined as "regardless" by some dictionaries, but that doesn't make you sound less uneducated and willfully immature when you say it.
Even though my art isn't the best, and I use a lot of references, one shitty, but detailed drawing, means a whole lot more than a bunch of quick stick figures
I hope the people who receive mine like them, I tried senpais
I'm waiting on two more items to arrive so I can wrap them and then my giftees will have a very merry Christmas! (Yes they're getting Vegemite)
It's like one of our family traditions to give vegemite to anyone that's overseas. Whenever my parents travel overseas for business they bring a heap of it with them to gift to whoever they meet.
Why? Because Vegemite is fucking amazing, and foreigners relations to it is just as amazing.
Vegemite its pretty damn good. On toast, in the morning with some tea/coffee, and a slap in the face.
Would only be more legit if I could have the experience of eating it while being chased by a sydney funnel web.
Is santa in the thread, I wanna mail a question if they have addresses and emails of anons last year.
I fucked up and got fired from my job and I want to send the shit I wanted to send to the anon last year this year to make up to them.
confirmed to work on Nozaki-kun, probably depends on the item.
I'm going to ruin this by mentioning vegemite paste made by mixing with butter/butter-like substances, usually with more butter than vegemite. Shit spreads far more evenly if pre-mixed so you don't get too much caught in air bubbles in the bread/cracker.
Also add cheese.
If they still hate it after that they're faggots.
Gonna just remind all of you that if you have recipients in Finland, sending your gifts as early as possible might be a good idea, since there's a strike going on right now.
Not sure if my gifts will reach in time because of that either.
I think I've actually been in every thread at some point since the assignments went out. I just lurk 99% of the time.
If you have any questions, please address them to the email, as I'm virtually guaranteed to get them that way.
First time baking cookies, hopefully they travel well and aren't shitty when they arrive ROfrom CA ZCfrom GA
Your stuff will be shipping out before December rolls around. I hope you like it
>Grinch three years in a row
Not doing it this year, but I almost wish I did, at least before I could pretend like my holidays wouldn't be shit for a few weeks.
>Not only wanting to eat it because it contains DNA
Step up, nigga
That's right there's still time for late cards! Just a little.
Follow the links and sign up if you are interested. Somethings come up on this end, but rest assured I am watching and I will have your assignments out by said date.
If I haven't responded to your email please send me another.
I'll be waiting.
Meanwhile I'm still waiting for some of my /ss/ gifts to arrive.
Semen shouldn't be much different from eggs when baked and if it has stuff like anthrax in it then I'm going to die even if I don't eat them, so I don't see a reason to let anon's goodwill go to waste.
YOU FUCKED ME OVER SECRET SANTA ORGANIZERS!!111!!!one!!!1
i specifically axed you guys to update my request and said you did but you didnt, and now i got the old request, which would be fine really except now i have two copies of the same fig.
also she just sent it to me straight from the retailer, no wrappan paper or nuthin ;-;
oh well~~ atleast i didn't get grinched :3
The biggest AmiAmi box I have is too small for my anon's gifts. I have another smaller AmiAmi box that I could use as well to ship the gifts in two separate boxes. Would it be better to do that, or to just buy a bigger box at the post office and send it all in one?
Cards are out for:
VGfrom AZ MPfrom NM JAfrom Germany JCfrom TX
And my gift is out to
JBfrom AustraliaIt's coming in two separate boxes because it would have cost insane amounts of money to send in one box. Still cost a fortune to send. Who knew shipping from Canada to Australia would be costly?
We both sent cards to JA of Germany!
I normally don't post initials, but it seems it actually worries some people.
NGfrom NetherlandsI've wrapped your gifts, will probably send it off at some point later next week so it doesn't arrive too early. LCfrom Belgium Jfrom VA JSfrom Canada
Cards will all be sent on Monday.
Most of your items are here, just waiting on one more. then it's just a matter of shipping them to you.
hopefully they'll get there before you leave. If not I'll send them before you get back.Rest assured you will not be grinched.
I started drawing something on scrap paper and ended up with something better than what I've done on the proper cardstock. Think anon would mind their card just being a postcard or having irrelevant doodles on it?
BBfrom Netherlands MWfrom Canada
Your cards are almost done and I expect to send them on Wednesday!
Rzfrom London, tracking says your stuff just arrived in customs, and I'll probably get them this week. I'll be visiting your town next week and I will be shipping your stuff from there in order to save money and time. I can also do an awkward personal delivery if you really want.
Can I just email the organizers to email my S/a/ntas about something? I got two orders I made mixed up and it seems my biggest haul only just got shipped the other day because of backordered items, I'm afraid it might be late.
I guess having one item left in stock might as well mean it's on backorder.
Is it alright to put more effort into the cards for people with good taste?
first time making frosting, you guys better appreciate it
A lot of people do not post initials. I posted 50% of my card initials and left 50% to wonder/be pleasantly surprised.
but you won't be one of mine since you are sending a card to me!
>put them in envelopes
>mfw I realize I have no idea how to send a letter
am I pathetic?
Don't worry anon, we all have to learn sometime.
I have been shocked by how many grade 12 students can't send letters. I have had a few co-op for me over the last few years. What is wrong with the education system that people cannot meaningfully function in society with a high school education? So yes, that is pathetic. Get it together.
>walk into post office to find a box
>Not sure if the large brown boxes are free like the priority mail ones
>stand there browsing fucking boxes
>Leave once the clerk walks into the back
Just ended up using some old box I found in my garage instead
We don't teach anything practical. High schoolers come out not knowing budgeting, basic politics, how to apply for government things like licenses, loans, etc. Sadly, we're also largely failing them on academics too.
For the waifus I didn't like I gave them larger breasts.
I treat my cards by equal by drawing they're waifus cute
and calling them faggots
I only just realized that I'm away from home over Christmas.
Hopefully all my things arrive before I go.
>go to post office
>wait in line for your turn
>tell post office person that you'd like to mail your cards in the class of your choice. (If you and your assignments are in the US, first class is still fine and much cheaper than priority.)
>post office person measures your envelopes, weighs them, and checks for bumpy things inside that might make it "non-machinable".
> calculates how much you're going to pay based on size, weight, and destination.
>go home and hope your anons receive your cards
Also, receiver's address on the center back of the envelope and return address on top left corner.
>Received gifts accidentally opened one unmarked one.
TCfrom COhere I will save the nicely wrapped one for Christmas. Thank you anon the niboshi keychain is cute.
I spilled my spaghetti yesterday interacting with a cashier. She greeted me with a hello and I opened my mouth like I was about to say something but I just decided to smile awkwardly instead. After she was done giving me my change she handed me my plastic bag and she was like
"Here is your bag. And you are?"
Then I accidentally dropped some of my coins on the ground and just left them there.
As I was walking out of the store I realized she was probably asking for my name.
It gets better, r-right?
Hi I don't watch anime and I'm usually on /an/ and /ck/, but i watched death note and I like drawing, can I be part of the secret card thing? (:
Where can I get an address to send a card to?
My Anon used a nickname. I've posted the initials of their nickname a couple of times and never had a response back. I've also seen I think two other Anons post the same initials for gifts.
I'm beginning to think my Anon is a grinch.
I hope not. Their taste is good and I enjoyed choosing gifts.
Given that cards can take only a day to three to get across the country, many anons might send them a bit late. Plus, the mail service gets slow this time of year.
Honestly, don't worry. It's not like worrying will help anyway.
>It's almost December
Almost time to start shopping and making cards!
I hope you work fast because you've got less than three weeks to get that shit to your anons on time.
I did okay making 10, I rushed to have them done by thanksgiving though and I procrastinated a bit so it felt like I was hurrying at times, it's kind of at the peak where if you make any more you are putting less effort into each individual one and just trying to get them all done, but it's doable
The problem for me is that I have to take my time when it comes to traditional drawing. I'm pretty sure my stuff looks terrible compared to digital that spoils me with undos, layers, etc.
On the whole, I've probably gotten 3.5/5 done, I just hate how colouring ruins everything and there's a moderate amount of assembly involved.
Already finished my favourite of the five though.
Will it be made with your love nectar?
>colouring ruins everything
Always. I forgot the cards were embossed on the outside.
>made all the cards
>can't think of anything to actually write in them
I wrote like two short sentences in each, hope my anons wouldn't mind.
No return address on the card, which I signed as anon. I had to put full name and address on the box, which inside I put as the gift coming from [japanese characters]. I'm not afraid of anon coming and wearing my skin, it would be way too expensive and he'd miss his airing shows.
One of my recipients asked for me to write a heartfelt letter but that just made it harder to write anything because it felt forced.
Lazy student here. 2/7 cards left.
I finished two and while I had to amputate her for a merry Christmas, the craft knife gamble was a success. Tuesday post trip here I come
>Watching the tracking on the cards I sent out
>make a mistake and send out a message that it will take one to two weeks to reach me
>turns out it will take three to four
Well, I'm not getting anything this year. I mean, I have faith that things will arrive, but I'm not going to open them until Christmas (ie. in twelve months).
I hope you guys like shit that will rot your teeth. Because I'm pretty sure these will do it.
RNof CA- Finished wrapping everything today, you live pretty far from me so expect your package around the week of Christmas. ABWof PA- Your card is all set, I'll be sending it sometime this week so expect it soon!
They look like diarrhea. I would throw them out. You need to realize that people are already anxious about eating food sent anonymously over the internet. Make your shit presentable.
