Why Kurapika can't ever be a girl?

I found most of their adaptations to rely solely on pretty visuals and the quality of the source material to hold up. Competent directing and editing are pretty much nonexistent, animation can be quite good but 95% of the time it's nothing but flapping mouths.

I like them. Specifically because they don't really try anything too fancy in their adaptations. They're usually of decent visual quality, too.

Plus the few good original anime of theirs, although the staff who are responsible for them having mostly moved on to other studios, were really, really good.

In the case of HxH 2011 and many other Madhouse productions, and actually many non anime original, directors are incompetent at taking more from the source material than raw strings of information and paroting them mindlessly. A story isn't just a succession of ideas and concepts that evolve, it's also the way they're told.

Watching HxH 2011 it's very obvious that the director is not seeing the source material as a story but as a mass of panels that need to be colored and bubbles with text that will need to be recited. It's even more blatant when the OST is almost all the time used randomly without trying to match the situation.
