All the harem arcs are over which double ups as teambuilding as they each helped each other's personal lives. It felt mechancial though, that the story went through all the steps but there was no feeling of bonding. Ouka's strap is to bestow her with the goddess Hestia.

The plot is not original, I'll give you that. If anything it's become more of an oldschool RPG where the crew constantly have to get somewhere to finish their objective and most of the SoL moments come to a halt when literal war breaks out. The anime's rushing pace is understandable given the constraints but what the made the series and the volumes itself interesting was that aside from the main crew's antics, the side characters had a good portion of volumes focusing on them with a parallel plotline that builds up on its own and coincides with the main crew's goal by Volume 5. The two side characters that SL is ignoring are half the reasons why I picked the LN's up and are generally agreed to be the best parts of the series. It's the smaller details that make the series into a finer whole.

Could Silver Link could have done anything about that? Probably not but I kind of blame the deceptive opening

Adding to that, the novels have the generosity of seemingly coming to an end with only the endboss in sight. Most school battle LN's have themselves still stuck in the middle of interschool politics and their tournaments. The author is kind enough not to completely whore out the female cast and perpetuate the series for sales because there's actually plot.

I like how their was an actual linear plot in this series, rather than a girl of the week format and a sudden development.

There was a pretty decent progression since the beginning, with the first four volumes basically being Sougetsu setting up Takeru to want to kill him, with Usagi's volume the only being a bit iffy in terms of the larger plot.

Haunted is best boy alone for destroying the tournament early. Glad we didn't have to deal with that kind of plot.

The bunny volume is important only for introducing Comfy Sempai and hinting at the heretics alliance, other than that they probably could have skipped it. I guess that in the plans the Ethics Committee might have been more important but that got dropped when the Series started to shift in Vol 5-6.

Yes, the fact that we didn't have to really deal with a tournament arc is something I will always be thankful for, and yes I appreciate that the plot has always been moving and never feels like it's wasting too much time as it quickly introduces stuff and keeps things interesting.

Also yes, the harem being limited to the platoon is great, that ensures that each girls gets some focus and makes them stand out more than in other series that waste time introducing girls that never do shit.
