I am not a Kosakifag. What bothers me about her losing is that Komi's inevitable "Welp, she was too indecisive and let Chitoge steal Raku from her" is pure bullshit unsubstantiated by most of the story. Multiple times she took the initiative and she didn't get anywhere only because of deus ex machinas. Chitoge's victory will feel hollow and forced to me because of this. Which volume is this, 21 or 22? She's only now going to try to confess? Kosaki did it in volume 5 by asking Raku to kiss her.

This isn't of course the only thing that bothers me in this series, but it's the main one right now.

The writing itself has a lot of contrived bullshit but I think he's a decent protagonist. Most harem protagonists I find fall into one of two categories, the effectively worthless who only pick up a harem because they're nice enough, or the zany pervert that girls find inexplicably charming when he's still got nothing to offer.

He's dense to romance, sure, but I don't have any problem figuring out why any of the girls like him except maybe Tsugumi. Outside of matters of love he's aware enough to notice the shit that goes on around him and he shows a decent amount of introspection, even in the most recent arc he was smart enough to know when words became useless and when to take action and he has a good understanding of the reality between him and Marika. He's resourceful and he treats his friends great. It's not like he's on of those screaming shonen protags that yell until things fall into place, sometimes his contribution to things can only amount into being morale support and that's just fine.

I kinda get what you are trying to say, but even in his growth his was written sloppily. Let's take Kimito as an example since he's the closest one to Raku. Both of them know they cannot solve all of the problems of the Harem members, both of them ask for advice from other people but Kimito actually does his best without jeopardizing his standing with the other women. Try counting the times Raku acted like a complete douche to achieve his goals. Also, his reasons for not trying to answer any of them is shallow as fuck. Let's take Tomoki of Sora no Otoshimono. He tried his hardest to resist his Harem cause he believed that humans should only love humans. Westernmark hit him for Sohara so when Hiyori first came he legit fell for her and was about to confess. Another example of this is Hayate which I have a convenient picture here+His responsibilities.
