I haven't exactly caught up yet, but I just recently got into Tokyo Ghoul. I watched the anime but that's not important, but now i'm on chapter 12 of re.
Anyways, I was just wondering what the general sentiment about re was. Does everyone else find this whole memory loss/multiple personality thing as frustrating as I do?
It sucks that some of my favorite characters get way less of an insight into what they're thinking and a general part. It feels like in the last 50 or so chapters one of my favorites, Touka, was already becoming less of a factor. On top of that I hear she's barely a side character in re thus far.

Because like I said, hair turning white in a situation like that, over 10 days, is a perfectly explainable, normal situation. In a manga like this, hair suddenly changing to black, is not however. It doesn't fit with the semi-realistic tone set. The only time hair color ever really changes that quickly in any other anime is when characters dye it, or they go through a magical transformation, in a manga even more far off from realism.
Honestly I think this type of stuff has more to do with experience and general feeling than realism, and hair changing in that situation just feels like bullshit.

Again, I'm not the guy who had a problem with it, but I don't see how you can defend it as perfectly reasonable "cuz manga" when that's not how it is at all.
Even in less realistic manga, if some unexplained random shit happens, it's usually deemed bullshit.

Kaneki's hair becoming white was both a symbolic and physical change. Haise's black roots and white hair tips at the beginning of the manga was too. The interplay between his hair becoming more black or more white? That's pure symbolism.

For a while now, his hair has been predominantly black. And now it's totally black. Definitely symbolic, but possibly a permanent physical change to show us that he's already completely recovered.

Every manga/anime has it's own innate style of realism, something unexplained, popping out of nowhere, that doesn't fit in with it, can't be labelled anything other than bullshit. Saying that is true or not can not be proven or disproven with "symbolism" in anyway, because it has nothing to do with it.

Alright I read the entire manga today, so naturally I have a few questions or just points of discussion.
People seem to think that Eto and Kaneki are gonna have some sort of deeper connection. Some people even shipping them. Why is that? Were there signs leading up to it or pointing too it? I don't think there's really much besides Eto taking an interest in him is there?
Honestly Eto's situation is pretty sad all in all. I really feel for her, and since we haven't really seen the full extent of her being a brutal killer so it's hard to really see her as a true evil too. More of a victim of circumstance.
Besides that I really hope Kaneki doesn't actually go off the deep-end. Honestly my ideal ending for this manga would probably be another timeskip where Touka and Kaneki live happily ever after. Although I think for anything like that to happen Kaneki would have to not go batshit psycho and would probably have to maintain a friendly relationship with the CCG.
Besides that, was it revealed who actually sent him the book he questioned Uta about?
Are the clowns actually good or evil in relation to Kaneki, the cafe people, or just in general I suppose?

Besides that I never said romance or anything romantic was the focus of this manga, it's far, far, far from it.
