means Toei will continue with precure
Nee-san! did you of you do these Balala subs? I'm only 7 minutes in, and it needs a lot of work.
This isn't some ecchi teenage boy series.
Nudity and sex are fine. Exploitation and creepyness is not. Plenty of Precure seasons and other forms of little girl anime use nudity to an advantage, plenty also use it as an exploitation of women to get male viewers, this is not ok.
An example is the shower scenes in Fresh Precure, these take a lot of influence from bathroom scenes from French art cinema, however when done through other anime like Jewelpet, they just become weird voyeur moments, not accurately capturing the thoughts behind the scene's he's trying to emulate. Little girl anime writing is just not of the standard that can use these topics well enough to correctly justify their inclusion. Another topic is the woefully terrible "lophie" scenes and their justification when they were revealed for Pri Para. Terrible writing, terrible execution and terrible justification. It's pure voyeur tripe at this moment in time.
Umm I'm sorry, Contrary to what shippers say Leona and Sophie have a very sweet, but pure relationship. There's no overt romantic interest. If you're talking about the infamous ending that's another subject in my opinion. Unless that greatly changed in the last couple of episodes and /ai/ didn't go mad about it.
It's a throwback to Meiji sensibilities.
During the Meiji revolution, when poverty and high society became more aware of each other and there was more friction between them, the Revolutionists (also Christian) did all they could to codify and 'standardise' how people should behave or think. Basically they wanted to normalise everything (which is an evolutionary drive, in their defence).
There were horrific, widely-read pamphlets about how:
>nudity is abhorrent and manners were the most important thing
>never talk about sex, it's taboo
>always be prim and proper in behaviour - manners and politeness (read: not talking about stuff) is paramount
>a woman should do everything for her man and be totally monogamous (there's a bit about it here and it ties directly to this topic)
>nudity in any way is totally taboo (see: full-body swimsuits and swim-dresses for women from the time)
>violence was the realm of 'men' and isn't a taboo (though women shouldn't talk about such things)
Basically, in all modern media, we are still chained in a subtle way to these old sensibilities (in my opinion, this is informed conjecture). The origins of Hollywood still inform the tropes and patterns of modern mainstream cinema. Same goes for mainstream games, which are far earlier in their development. Hollywood broke out of the violence stuff in the '60s, and literature broke out of everything in the 1910s. Precure also require the catalyst of violence as an problem solving device which is fair enough.
>maybe I should try picking up Precure
>hit up old wikipedia and see what I'm in for
>the franchise has seen many anime series, spanning over 500 episodes to date, as well as spawning movies
It can't be any cringier than the show's dancing.
They did dance in kig but not the one from the early episodes. Watch the Fresh Musical and see for yourself.
Half an hour in: Honoka laughs at your stupid jokes more
One hour in: Honoka starts sperging about science
Two hours in: Honoka starts complaining about Nagisa and her parents
Three hours in: Smelling like mustard gas and roses, Honoka repeatedly tells Chuutaro what a great dog he is before passing out
There's a lot of pent-up frustration for sure
I'm on the 19th episode of Futari wa Pretty Cure. The girls are cute and everything but... When does it get good?
>What are you looking for?
Actually I was expecting cute magical girls doing cute magical things, but FW has been extremely repetitive.
Which purikyua is the best? I'm watching FW just because it's the first.
>When does it get good?
What do you mean?
How do you expect us to read your mind?
It's a rather slow show if that is what you mean, and you can't really do anything about that.
The other series are a bit faster in that respect.
Also Precure is more a character driven show rather than a plot driven show, and some people prefer plot over character.
Also I wonder what kind of expectations people are setting for a show where its main target demographic are 7 year old girls.
>Actually I was expecting cute magical girls doing cute magical things
Try Smile, it's close.
Heartcatch has the most universal praise of Precure series.
Best depends on what you like the most about the series, some series do x better others do y better etc.
Smile is a fun comedy cute season.
Fresh is also very fun but has rather horrendous animation in case that bothers you.
Also you really shouldn't expect too much of a preteen girl show, it won't have any very deep moments or whatever "intellectuals" like to watch.
Heartcatch is a bit more plot driven than the other shows so you could say it's a bit more adult. (only a bit)
Erika was easily the best thing about Heartcatch.
>whatever "intellectuals" like to watch.
I know that, not really looking for a plot, maybe just more comedy and cuteness. FW has some but not enough I guess.
>expectations people are setting for a show where its main target demographic are 7 year old girls
I know that Pretty Cure is very well liked by Japanese otaku, that's why maybe I was expecting more moe and comedy.
You're gonna like symphogear (season 1 and 2 only)
Then watch Corrector Yui (great ED) and Wedding Peach (got better het, got better fighting, got better tomboy, got better pink, got better blue than precure)
If people are looking for other mahou shoujo shows, may I suggest Jewelpet?
Is it wrong I really like to ship these two, despite the obvious Het route of Yes 5?
Why is Honoka the sexiest pretty cure of all time?
Nah ship away, they were the 2 most interesting characters in their seasons.
I really like the way the MAHO GIRLS hat forms a heart with its shadow.
I hope there's shadow Cures and she gets recruited to the team and it ends up super weird because there's two twin Pinks.
>It's decided! The new Precure is...
>Maho Girls Precure!
>What could the next Precure be like? We're so excited to find out! Introductions will be in the February issue. See you there!
Yeah. And I've always felt like One Piece focuses way too much on things little boys might like. I read shoujo, suddenly it's like the author thinks everyone out there is a girl. What the fuck?
Well, I guess that the common case is that those who watch it are the once you targeted it at. And 4-12 is very broad age group. What I'm getting at is that it feels like post-Doki Precure is targeted at younger girls.
nudity and sex happen in many works of fiction. just not on murrican broadacast TV. but that's not the only form of fiction in existence.
>read post-singularity scifi
>at least 3 sex scenes per book to show just how casualized it has been. because no risks thanks to technology, yay. at least half a page spent on describing just how enhanced their senses are
>watch some netflix/paytv show
>sex scene, gays, druggies etc. every other episode because MUH MATURE TV
precure violence is fairly tame. practically no bloodshed, all damage gets fixed and it's mostly against non-human monsters
It's Kamen Rider Black's transformation pose.
I lost my shit. Subbing aside, this show is totally hilarious.
The -specific month- issues of Japanese magazines are usually released one month before the -specific month-, but releasing at the verrry end of the month before one month before the -specific month- is also game.
Stop shitposting about other shows on twitter and do something useful, you faggot.
Anon, don't be rude. That's not very Precure-like.
What's next on the occupations for girls list after witches?
When are we going to be going "Remember when Precure was about being a Precure and not about being Precure + Thing?"
It's better to have a theme to follow than floundering around all season with them like Fresh, Smile, Doki or Hacha did.
Suite and Gopri are really the only ones that have managed to keep on track with their themes. Not saying they're the best seasons (Fresh is my favorite), but it's true.
Pure maidens ready to kick your ass
but that's the fate for all genres, eventually they become genre + thing.
the author is incapable of capitalizing on the world he has built. he just expands the cast and throws in a random concept for each new installment.
same shit happened with dog days.
Ok, I have watched this after all this balalaspam of you guys.
To be honest, it wasn't bad, the characters were cool, kek I like it when they made fun of the lil fat guy.
-The animation looks cheap
-is this like a sequel or something?
I can understand caring about animation and hating live-action, but caring so much that you'll skip four seasons of content makes no sense to me. Even for a little girl show. There's surely all sorts of character development that you completely miss.
I can't imagine this ever working unless you get a hollywood budget and a whole basement full of teenage actors. good teenage actors.
did you watch precure in production order?
This episode was just a one-off, and I think that a lot of the people who downloaded it were just curious about Balala rather than actually interested in picking it up. So it makes sense to go with the good-looking season.
Would you really want to sit through 50 episodes of this?
>did you watch precure in production order?
Balala appears to have a single continuity across all season though. So it's different.
In the newly subbed episodes some old characters return, and everybody talks about how long it's been since they saw them last etc.
>Would you really want to sit through 50 episodes of this?
>Yellow in the middle.
No, but purely because the pink and blue aren't the main characters. Not because it's ugly or anything.
Nadja feels like a show where I have to be super precise with the timing but I can try for regular releases instead. It's not an original translation so it didn't feel like it warranted the time, and the only reason I started was to prod geso and she didn't care.
It's sadly not as known as Doremi, so you'll have to generate some hype and remind people of the show's existence.
It's a really great show, though. Even at it's worst, it's not Doki/Hacha or "The Hana Show."
>Do you think it came out okay?
>Yes, you're quite skillful
>However, I think it might be better if you were to make the pink and blue girls stick a bit closer
>Minamin... There you go again...
>Then I'll have the yellow and red girls stick to each other too!
Tsubomi and Erika arrived today. Incoming panty shots.
You can't see it from this angle but she has meticulously sculpted wrinkles on the back of her panties where she's twisting. And she has a slight cameltoe.
Sorry about the shit lighting. Here's a better angle of Erika's divine cleft.
I watch it with onii-chan.
He seems to like it for some reason.
Is that a euphemism? Her face isn't squished.
mpc doesn't have lossless jpg, actually most encoders do not even support lossless jpg.
> it will still be smaller than a png
Not if/when I properly optimize the PNG
Pic related is a weak attempt at optimizing.
If I actually do a few good runs it will be tiny in no time.
Fug, posted the original. Ignore that.
You know what I mean, god damn it.
It's not guro, she's meant to pull apart there. Megahouse knows what Precure fans want in a figure.
Because I'm an autistic idiot feminist.
encodes already are lossy, doubly so from TV captures, you're only getting least-significant-bit noise with high quality options.
TV broadcast (mpeg2ts) -> fansub encode (h.264) -> screenshot
If you really want lossless you need to steal the masters from the production company.
When I convert it to JPG with paint file size becomes bigger
>Aspiring for the best is meaningless... Just like life.
>Why is it called the February issue if it isn't released in February?
It means that it'll take longer before a casual reader looks at the cover and thinks about it as an past month's issue.
>Could it be you're... craving Mai mcnuggies?
Splash Star did as well, I'd say it did it best.
>花鳥風月 (Kachou Fuugetsu) Literally: Flower, Bird, Wind, Moon
>Meaning: Experience the beauties of nature, and in doing so learn about yourself.
1-hour drawing incoming.
Today's theme is episode 42 of Heartcatch Precure. You know, the one with the shota having a crush on Yuri.
>I'll never get to /ss/ with Yuri
Nigger, I watch this shit because the fights are better than in generic shonen #342.
Also the characters are fun, I'm not even a moefag, precure is legit, try watching some episodes my man.
I'm sure it's a wonderfully pungent stench.
Please do not do that here.
So I was interested to see how a real chinese magical girl cartoon compares to Precure and gotta say it wasn't such a horrible experience.
The designs and costumes are generally very cute yet also pretty generic and the overall animation is unsurprisingly functional at most. The characters are likeable but a little more rough which might be a culture thing. The atmosphere is light-hearted and fun, colors and simple backrounds pleasant but nothing unordinary. The most distracting things for me were the annoying sound effects, seemingly inexperienced VAs, unexpected facial expressions and the language. Seriously, why does Chinese have to be such a weird language to listen to? Everything sounds like ChinShouJa-FengMeng-LiLang. It's distracting but might be a thing one can get accustomed to.
Come to think of it, this is how it must be like for people when they first try to watch their cartoons in Japanese.
I can't judge the whole show by one episode and won't recommend it to the typical /a/non but it's surprisingly entertaining and watchable (depending on what you expect from a chinese little girl cartoon). Still, technically it seems they have a long way to go to be a serious contender for Precure. The SoL moments and overall clumsy execution also has its own charme.
I found it interesting to see how hard the Chinese tried to perfectly copy the anime art style and how much they improved in doing so. Give the staff new talents, some budget and a few years of experience and we might see some slight competition in worldwide popularity.
Something about murrica's animation industry is deeply defective. I don't think it can be fixed.
The french incorporate some aspects into their own stuff, but they're much smaller.
The rest is irrelevant.
You sure? I don't watch the stuff, but I think American animation is moving towards somewhat more mature things, not just either children (Spongebob level) or adults (Family Guy type). Or maybe it's just that lots of people like children's stuff like Gravity Falls or whatever.
Yes, it's been used a few times. If you're wondering what tracks haven't been used, track 32 is the only one I don't recall hearing at all. Which would make sense considering its title (Grand Princess).
>artist does cures
>artist does gore
>no cure gore
Because I love you so much, onee-chan!
This is probably the closest thing you'll find, and it's mostly OP/ED (with some classical pieces). At least, I haven't found anything like what you're looking for.
Thanks. I actually am looking for this >>133989081 kind of performance, but they usually only play OPs.
It's just that Takanashi is a synthy kind of guy, so I want to hear his tracks played traditionally.
I want to fuck Lala.
Oh you naughty wind. Unfortunately for you and a few other onlookers, you'll get no glimpses of anything today, thanks to this lovely cat's reflexes.
This reminds me, I totally forgot!
Whatever happened to Robinho?
So just started with Futari Precure. It was made in 2004? It really looks/feels like a 90s anime, what up with that?
Also is there a list of filler episodes I can skip if they exist? 49 episodes is a lot.
Or should I start with one of the newer series like Heartcatch Pretty Cure! or Doki Doki?
Why hello my fellow Pretty Cure enthusiast! Have you purchased Pretty Cure merchandise for all of your friends and family? Christmas is right around the corner ya know.
And don't forget to buy a Netflix subscription to watch the new and improved Glitter Force this holiday season as well!
How long until a Tumblrina flys to Japan to show a kig their self harm scars?
This. Little girls are psychotic.
I haven't watched it, to be honest. I heard it's bad from a lot of posters, and that made me not want to watch it. Dumb, yes.
Anyway, this sounds like it will be similar (song and dance).
>Next crossover movie
>interdimensional evil that threatens all Precure worlds by destroying random shit everywhere
>can only be defeated in its home dimension
>each team only has the power to send one rep from their team
>one cure on each team has overwhelming personal stake in defeating the evil due to having loved ones affected
>all star cure team of ten cures sets off to battle with unusual pairings, teamwork and chemistry
>is fucking awesome
>repeat next year with new reps
All pinks. Only Tsubomi, Haruharu, and the new girl are voiced.
It was lazy.
70% of the movie was just reused dance animations and panning of still images.
Not a single one of the dances even covered half of their respective songs until they transitioned into image montages and info dumps from cures about their respective seasons.
>Nagisa, Mai, Love, Erika, Ako, Akane, MakoPi, Hime, Haruharu, Mahou Pink
>Ako/Hime/Haruharu princess hijinks
>Flora/Black/Sunny tagteam brawl
>Mai/Hime wind combos
>Love teaching MakoPi to dance
>Mai knowing exactly how to deal with and defuse Nagisa for some strange reason
>ErikaxHime take 2
I can't wait until year 3 when the speculation around whether SS's next rep will be Michiru or Kaoru starts.
Never worked for Disney myself, but my friend who portrayed Tigger said if you didn't love your job the pay wasn't worth it.
