Nudity and sex are fine. Exploitation and creepyness is not. Plenty of Precure seasons and other forms of little girl anime use nudity to an advantage, plenty also use it as an exploitation of women to get male viewers, this is not ok.

An example is the shower scenes in Fresh Precure, these take a lot of influence from bathroom scenes from French art cinema, however when done through other anime like Jewelpet, they just become weird voyeur moments, not accurately capturing the thoughts behind the scene's he's trying to emulate. Little girl anime writing is just not of the standard that can use these topics well enough to correctly justify their inclusion. Another topic is the woefully terrible "lophie" scenes and their justification when they were revealed for Pri Para. Terrible writing, terrible execution and terrible justification. It's pure voyeur tripe at this moment in time.

It's a throwback to Meiji sensibilities.

During the Meiji revolution, when poverty and high society became more aware of each other and there was more friction between them, the Revolutionists (also Christian) did all they could to codify and 'standardise' how people should behave or think. Basically they wanted to normalise everything (which is an evolutionary drive, in their defence).

There were horrific, widely-read pamphlets about how:

>never talk about sex, it's taboo
>always be prim and proper in behaviour - manners and politeness (read: not talking about stuff) is paramount
>a woman should do everything for her man and be totally monogamous (there's a bit about it here and it ties directly to this topic)
>nudity in any way is totally taboo (see: full-body swimsuits and swim-dresses for women from the time)
>violence was the realm of 'men' and isn't a taboo (though women shouldn't talk about such things)

Basically, in all modern media, we are still chained in a subtle way to these old sensibilities (in my opinion, this is informed conjecture). The origins of Hollywood still inform the tropes and patterns of modern mainstream cinema. Same goes for mainstream games, which are far earlier in their development. Hollywood broke out of the violence stuff in the '60s, and literature broke out of everything in the 1910s. Precure also require the catalyst of violence as an problem solving device which is fair enough.

So I was interested to see how a real chinese magical girl cartoon compares to Precure and gotta say it wasn't such a horrible experience.

The designs and costumes are generally very cute yet also pretty generic and the overall animation is unsurprisingly functional at most. The characters are likeable but a little more rough which might be a culture thing. The atmosphere is light-hearted and fun, colors and simple backrounds pleasant but nothing unordinary. The most distracting things for me were the annoying sound effects, seemingly inexperienced VAs, unexpected facial expressions and the language. Seriously, why does Chinese have to be such a weird language to listen to? Everything sounds like ChinShouJa-FengMeng-LiLang. It's distracting but might be a thing one can get accustomed to.
Come to think of it, this is how it must be like for people when they first try to watch their cartoons in Japanese.

I can't judge the whole show by one episode and won't recommend it to the typical /a/non but it's surprisingly entertaining and watchable (depending on what you expect from a chinese little girl cartoon). Still, technically it seems they have a long way to go to be a serious contender for Precure. The SoL moments and overall clumsy execution also has its own charme.
I found it interesting to see how hard the Chinese tried to perfectly copy the anime art style and how much they improved in doing so. Give the staff new talents, some budget and a few years of experience and we might see some slight competition in worldwide popularity.
