OP here. Didn't know it was a common opinion, I just made a cheeky post out of disappointment after reading the "after story" chapters. Shit isn't even worth an OVA, and the end is just the worst thing ever.

I honestly think Nodame Cantabile is grossly overrated on /a/. It wasn't bad, genuinely entertaining, but the author tended to derail from the main story for side characters and it takes a few rereads to be satisfied with the ending. Also the Europe half wasn't nearly as fun as Japan.

The first volume is pretty boring, two through four are decent generic 4-koma, College is kind of bad, High School is surprisingly good but still nothing special.

No. In many respects it was better than the adaptation. The OST is really the only thing which Kyoto Animation did which surpassed the manga.
