Have you seen more anime than the average /a/non?
How do you count?
Like MAL does, ie, every OVA, every season and every movie are individual anime?
Or is everything K-On! related just one anime? If yes, what about cases like A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Magical Railgun? 2 anime or one anime?
The completed number
I stopped watching a lot of anime a long time ago. I'm only here to read manga nowadays.
So, every entry then?
Holy shit, that'll be highly inflated.
If he'd said series, then I wouldn't have needed to ask. But as >>133901486 says, every single series will count as one anime. So basically for the purpose of this thread, series = anime.
tldr: You're wrong, apparently.
Is it though? If you only count series then Miss Monochrome (13 episodes at 4 minutes each episode) counts but LoGH (110 episodes at 24 minutes each episode) doesn't.
>Total entries 496
>Average of 13.8 episodes per anime
>Most of them completed
Are you one of those autists that keep watching short series only to increase your list on MAL?
Miss Monochrome has 3 seasons, which is 3 entries.
LoGH has multiple entries as well.
I don't use MAL because it arbitrarily raises your "powerlevel" for watching 20 minutes worth of anime.
I don't know how anyone manages to finish more than 300. I don't mean this in a "I don't have time" problem, but there simply aren't enough anime I find good enough to finish. And no, I'm not one of those elitist shitters that only likes old shit, in fact my favourites are shit like Index or Monogatari. It's just the amount of anime I've dropped is probably 10 times as much as anime I've completed, and I don't see how people can watch thousands of anime without getting bored of any of them. If I have nothing to watch, I just browse /a/, I don't force myself to watch through series I don't like. I guess some people really do like that many anime out there, but that's the impression I get.
Maybe you just haven't been exposed to a big enough range of stuff to see how much good stuff there is? I can't say for sure, since I'm not you, but if you've seen few shows and your favorites are popular contemporary stuff, that could very easily be the case.
There is literally no such thing as a normal fag.
You all are normal fags. There is literally nothing unique about you. Stop acting like those special autists on tumblr who self diagnose themselves as omnisexual pixie squirrelkins just to stand out.
I think it's more that I can only enjoy popular contemporary stuff, I've dropped many anime that have been very well-regarded on /a/, with little negative things to say about them, things like Kaiba and Tatami Galaxy, but on the other hand I loved Ping Pong which people seem to lump in with those. Maybe I just have shit taste, but that's up to you to decide.
To be fair if people tried it, most would probably like it
other anon hjere. OP said anime, not series, how is that such a hard concept to grasp? Literally nothing needs to be clarified.
If you have seen both seasons of Haruhi and the movie then that amounts to 3 (three) anime, not 1 (one) or 2 (two).
Has a nicer statistics than mals in that >>133901281 regard
Hah, after 1000 is all the same.
You've pasted the point of no returning after 300 and then after 800 you only went deeper.
~100 a year is pretty squarely average for a fan that isn't complete cancer.
Considering how many classics on the backlig on top of seasonal stuff, you should probably be even higher.
First off, I don't think less than 1/7 of people on /a/ do, at least I hope not. Second off, by that logic I could make a poll with above/below 1000 days as the only options and it would be perfectly acceptable.
<100 because I dropped the ball years ago and I've only recently started catching up
I watch anime since I was a kid but I still feel like I have shit taste.
~950 if you count manga.
>Most people on /a/ have seen far less than 1000 days of anime my friend
Yes, that's my point. I'm nowhere near a thousand days, either. I provided a ridiculous scenario that still met your criteria for a "perfectly sensible" metric.
"perfectly sensible" is when the top tier doesn't become a ridiculous pit.
If there are seven tiers and the top tier has less than 1/7th of the results, then it can't be an insane tier.
Now I did pick the tiers without thinking about anything at all, but days of runtime is a much better metric than series of anime.
Picking up ongoings while watching good classics from your backlog increases your powerlevel in much faster way.
But there is a danger of burning out or becoming shit eater who can't drop anything despite not enjoying it.
>except for shounenshitter cases like the other guy pointed out
We could have some sensible benchmarks I guess. Just come up with some number of 12-episode series to watch to qualify for a tier. How about a day per series?
If it's any consolation most of them are those old school 50+ episode series
I don't like this new MAL's metric so much.
It was hard enough for me to drop things because of hope for the better episodes and improving, but now this red scale is also triggering my autism.
You can put away 100 series a year watching nothing but flavor of the month shit every season.
Watching a lot of anime is important for exposing yourself to the medium, but there are essential shows you should see if you want to graduate from casual status.
Yeah, but even if we assume the first one, with 300 votes compared to 34 IPs ITT, wasn't proxyfagged, the second one still has zero people under 35 days, which is more than 100 anime unless your average show is three cour. My point is that these polls don't prove anything.
What did you expect in a thread like this?
You won't find the real powerlevel demographics in here. I don't say the truth is any better than what is depicted here, because I don't know. But in threads like these, all you find normally are newfags who think these polls are actually representative and therefore proudly partake, idiots rigging said polls, tryhard trolls (see above you) and attentionwhoring tripfags.
After the first 10 years, I stopped counting.
/a/ has gotten infinitely worse over the last year or so.
I blame /reddit9k/.
I noticed that too. But anime is getting popular again in the west since 2007 year and Naruto era.
The guys who stopped watching anime long ago start to picking it up again and coming here having no idea about /a/'s standarts. Also tumblershits and redditors are not helping.
>now they follow seasonal shit like us thanks to garbage like CR and Netflix
There was never anything more than Google between them and a stream, anon. Yes, it's getting bigger, but any idea that the anime community has somehow drastically shifted into being shit in the last year or two is just a delusion.
About 200 anime, but about 1000 manga. MAL's estimate of manga time is way low to be honest (like a hundred and something days), and I normally use MU, but I was curious as to what figure it would give me.
>And I don't care if that makes me a "normalfag"
You aren't a normalfag because of the anime you watch. You watch the anime that you do because you are a normalfag. No matter what you choose to watch, you will still be a normalfag, and we will still not like you.
I wouldn't know, I'm here since ~2012, but you can't fucking deny that between the fappening, moot leaving, /r9k/ becoming a reddit colony and the way "shitposting" has been reclaimed in full-force and not even ironically anymore, it's been a terrible time.
The prevalence of generals and the whatever the fuck madoka threads have become is fairly recent, like last two years recent. Before that, generals (the way it is now) is rare. So it certainly isn't a delusion.
They existed in the middle of the night, well the circlejerking and /soc/ tier bullshit. When mods were asleep. The problem is now that it is 24/7 in some cases. I don't care if it happens when I'm asleep and so is everyone else, but for fucks sakes, there is a time and place for everything.
It's getting to the point that the amount of people who still follow the big three has dwindled to the point where they can no longer be honestly called "normalfags". The highschool seniors who flood in probably don't care enough to go through hundreds of episodes. They just want their Umaru and Kill-la-Kill so they can join in on the memeing here on /a/.
But I don't think that's because there's worse new cancer watching anime than there used to be, I think it's because mods didn't do their job and shit culture developed. Those types of people were around before, they just hadn't formed this nucleus in most cases (3.0 and Index being early exceptions).
And? The way I see it, these days, half the serious people are being confronted with a THIS IS BAIT, laugh it off and continue on their merry way because /a/ is butt-fucking retarded.
>I didn't watch anime for two whole years
Normalfags are taking over, guys!
You need to strive higher. OPM threads are already too busy having a civil war between the ONE purists and the Murata fags.
You are just the same for posting in this very thread instead of just reporting and ignoring.
This, except I'll spend a year just writing up threads and scripts beforehand, and then when I ban everyone I'll implement them and make it look like there's still discussion going on.
No, a lot of the entries are 1 episode OVA/Specials/Movies so the remaining entries are longer than 13.8 eps per anime.
Really 'Days' is a better marker than completed or episodes.
Why did they even bother with the gray bar. It really ruins the impact.
Unfortunately moot already did this, there are (including you and I) 9 human anons remaining on /a/, 7 of which are Un-Go fans
>100 is the majority followed by 100-200 and so on.
Holy shit, I knew we have a lot of new- and normalfags here and I even still considered myself a semi-normalfag, but it seems I'm already among the people with the most anime experience on /a/. Disgusting.
>majority is <100 again
as in bad in spanish haha
mal in spanish is more like evil
malo is bad
>there is people that count the number of series they watched, and do so with the exclusive goal of confronting the number of series they watched with other people that do the same
>all these scrubs
I'm almost at 100 days.
K-On! is still the best anime I've ever seen btw.
Honestly surprised at how many people voted less than 200. I figured people would be too embarrassed to even vote. Around 330 here and I have barely watched any anime in like 4 years.
>majority of /a/ hasn't even see 100 anime
I want to believe that this strawpoll is rigged.
They're not. One poll got linked to a SEO thread, and then instantly a bunch of basically animeonly-fags poured in. Of the people who read manga more than stuff that pops up on /a/, powerlevels aren't that bad I don't think.
Generally people with higher power levels watch moe.
I'm almost at 400 and I only watch cute SoL nowadays aside from seasonal fodder.
No clue about harems though. I generally use them as padding during shitty seasons.
I reached about 150 back when I was hitting a new series every week it seemed. That was early high school for me when I had the time for it and everything was new. Everyone was experiencing the depth of shit anime had to offer at the same time it seemed.
Now it takes me much longer to get through 50.
>hurdur instead of ignoring threads we don't like let's turn it into an image dumb :^)
Thank you for pretending as if the report system does not exist, or better yet ignoring and not bumping this shit, you retarded fucking pedophiles.
Mods don't delete retarded circlejerks that happen all the time in generals. They even clear reports. I honestly don't know why they were never targeted, maybe they're the same fags.
That's because you have shit taste though, not because you're seen a lot of anime. You have it backwards. You don't watch moe because you have a higher powerlevel, you have a higher powerlevel because you don't care about watching the same rehashed shit over and over again. Sane people drop off and tend to lose interest after around 300 because after that it's all the same shit.
Thank you for the cute anime girls, anon-kun
If you just watch the top 7 or so shows per season you'll have hit 400 without even watching a single pre-2k anime. I find myself watching around 10-13 shows per season even after dropping a ton of stuff.
Everything has been rehashed at this point. Actionshit and plotfags inhale complete rehashed garbage all the time. I just branched out into the better genres such as SoL and episodic anime.
And of all the anime I've seen, nothing has been objectively better than K-On!.
Besides, you will still find hidden gems well down the line. Tamayura is a better Aria and I've been recently watching Shirokuma Cafe (which is GOAT btw).
Some of my favorite anime are Aria, Sketchbook, Lucky Star, etc. I also like Shirokuma Cafe, but I still am pretty certain what I said in the previous post is true. K-Shit sucks though, desu.
First season was actually kind of dull. The rest is not only better animated but it's the pinnacle of comfy SoL (especially S2). Don't miss out on any of the specials since they're great too.
>expect to have seen less than most
>turns out you've seen more than 88% of voters
well, didn't expect that
Sounds like you've just got specific taste. The are very few things I'll completely write-off as not even worthy of bothering with. Children's shows and Visual Novel adaptations for example.
this is what i got so far. there are many anime's i haven't added though
I've only been watching for a year
I choose not to included dropped anime, OVAs, and movies on my MAL aside from very few exceptions. I also just choose not to watch shorts.
That being said, I have between 300-400 completed.
go fuck a donkey.
This thing has achievements. This is my best one, what are you proud of /a/?
I need a life.
Also, loli > everything. I like where this thread has gone.
1.) proxy/repeat troll voting
2.) large number of lurkers that vote in the polls
Don't take it too seriously, we have these threads every couple of months. Luckily loli anon saved us as usual since mods can't be trusted.
You don't really expect me to post in a thread like this, do you? Proxying stupid poll like this would be stupid anyway. Or do you really expect your average /a/non to have seen more than 100-200 anime?
Holy crackers anon.
If you want to collect pictures of or masturbate to a small, two-dimensional child posing in a sexually-suggestive fashion, you should really think about reevaluating your life or seeing a therapist.
What If I masturbate to mature 2d women molesting little 2d girls. Is that okay?
I mean if that is your fetish I accept that, but no, I don't think that's ok.
I think that's most likely what was done to you as a child, and that makes me sad.
Would you like a hug?
What are your approved tags for fapping?
>never kept an accurate number because using MAL/ANN is cancer-tier
>over the years, newfags come in and start using MAL and waving their dicks around about watching ~100 OVAs
>kept the folders for every series I've watched in the past 10 years
You are literally a fucktard if you think keeping track of which anime you saw is faggotry while keeping the shows you watched on your pc to say you watched x shows. Completely retarded.
I'm surprised they have different achievements for manga. Some of them are nice too, like the first level of horror with Ito's Gyo
and the ones for being fujoshit
>thinks 600 series in 10 years is a lot
>spam loli to derail thread so it dies
>gets banned and over 100 posts deleted
Talk about backfired.
found a guy with only two levels, but at least they are exist
Some interesting statistics. Although MAL sucks based on time. It says behind Tezuka and Umezu, there's ONE since MAL thinks 1 page chapters of Makai no Ossan take some predetermined amount of time.
