That was the strangest part of 02. It would be a relatively natural progression to focus on Takeru and Hikari as the new main leads, but instead the focus shifted towards introducing new kids.

There's nothing objectionable about that in concept, but I felt it would have been better for Takeru to become the groups de facto leader. I can't really remember what he does in 02 at all, aside from go to France.

You'll probably be disappointed. Hormones are already roiling in Tri, and everyone's matured quite a lot since Adventure, so there's less need for a "team mom".

If anything, she'll get stuck defusing all of Taichi and Yamato's fights since the younger siblings only act on their own big brother instead of on the fight itself, and Sora's the only one who can't leave the fight or those two boys alone (much to Mimi's delight). Everyone else is fairly stable except for Jo, and I can't imagine Sora interjecting herself into his conflict.
