I don't really mind Synchro, I'm enjoying it,. but having said that, I get where people are coming from when they say they hate it.
We are in Act 2 of arc. Standard was Act 1. A series is inevitably more interesting when you don't quite have a clue of what the hell is going on, the character motivations aren't yet known and the rules of the game aren't yet clear. We've gone from Yuto and Shun being these mysterious strangers that were seemingly playing shadow games to them being egao.wav and Mr. Buy Raid Raptors, respectively. The only real mysteries left are where the hell Yusho is, the details of Leo's plan to fuse the dimensions and why he needs the Ruris for it, and of course the greatest mystery of all: What the hell is Reiji's keikaku?

But, for the most part, the plot now has to rely more on the characters than in the setting, and I think there have been quite a few bits with the hinted relationship between Jack and Crow's friends, Jean and Yuya and Yuya and Yuzu and Sora, but the setup, probably caused by budget concerns of having the Lancers locked up unable to interact with each other is rather frustrating as Synchro is supposed to sort of hint at the character dynamics that we'll have in Act 3, where there'll be little time to establish characters.

Also Shinji's REEEEing has been annoying as fuck, thank goodness it's over.

And this is exactly why Synchro is a steaming pile of shit, the character are locked away and forgotten until their round(and then forgotten after the duel) and we get no character interaction. Let's look at one of the more annoying character tropes in media "two characters that argue are tottaly in love" this shit is represented by Serena and Sawatari, if the ending is anything to go by(and I fucking hope it's not) yet their interactions were limited to only arguing and...doing nothing. We don't know much about Tsuki, other than the fact he's the writers emergency button for when the locked up characters have to learn some outside information. Jack is a waste of time as he sits on his toilet throne and egao's when someone beats the shit out of the opponent, the list goes on and on

I like Sora just fine, but it kind of sucks that he got all the meaningful friendships while Dennis got none. None of the other characters really cared about his reveal and disappearance since they barely knew him.

And yet Dennis got BTFO by Shun both times harder than Sora ever did. Last I checked, Academia's focus was on duel soldiers far moreso than spies, hence Yuri's reputation. That and Dennis uses Ancient Gear cards, the fodder cards of Obelisk Force, reducing Dennis to below Barrett-tier for me.

Besides, Dennis being charismatic only makes him MORE evil since he can just put up a mask whenever he wants. Its harder to tell if Dennis is being genuine or not. Just look at how nice he was to Yuzu and Ruri and how it LOOKED like his real self, only for it all to be part of the mission. Whereas Sora legitimately was Yuya and Yuzu's friend, especially in the episodes before Sora's first duel with Shun where Sora is at Yuya's house.

Whatever Sora's business for being in Standard was had nothing to do with Yuya or Yuzu, since Academia didn't even know about Yuzu until episode 37, and I assume the same goes for Yuya unless Yusho is working for Academia.

I actually find that really interesting. It feels that while Sora has genuine feelings towards people, Dennis's genuine feelings seem to be more Antique geared towards being an entertainer.

Like, his most genuine moments were when he was crushed when Kurosaki destroyed Trapeze Magician and ripped off his mask and when he said he thought it was awful that he had to greenlight the invasion and stop his street performances. He clearly cares about his monsters and enjoys his entame. It's hard to say if that extends to caring about other people like with Sora, though.

But I do like how they do different things with them. Keeps things more interesting.

Sora is very poorly written to me is the problem. He was so BLATANTLY evil and showed absolutely 0 remorse for his horrible actions, in fact he is the character who showed the most enjoyment at the prospect of more hunting games. Sora has been a massive piece of shit since episode 1 and has been untrustworthy as fuck yet constantly is forgiven or defended at the drop of a hat by the cast.

Dennis seems to vastly prefer being an entertainer to being some sort of soldier, and openly showed remorse at the idea of fulfilling his mission in relaying Ruri's position. I like trying to guess who is on tumblr based on theories n shit, and I've found that they're quite easy to find.
I'm pretty deep within the arc-v fandom, so let me tell you this.
A bunch of tumblrfags on here or not underage, but just really creepy older teens/young adults. I myself am a teen >inb4 underage, so I at least am a little more in the age range that watchers should be.
