Apparently the movie made about 85 Million Yen on day 1 with 75 theaters which is a better if slightly comparable result than oh say Ano Hana. Bandai has also achieved yet another weekly clean sweep of the multimedia core on Amazon of BD (Love Live, Gundam, GUP with a little Osomatsu and Monogatari in there), CD (GUP OST, Printemps, 436) and Hobby (GUP Gundam) and at this point they just seem to be on a rotation with their franchises all year across anime games and music which pretty much seem to be pulling in mad revenue all around, especially Starlight Stage. Also the shock wave of the movie hitting much like Love Live's pulled the old Blu-Rays into back into the anime rankings meaning it's doing better than a lot of anime from this current season this week.

Last I heard their expected year end revenue was supposed to be something like 500 billion yen or about 4 Billion USD, but it's probably going to be a lot higher as their hit rate has just been outrageous lately with only Comet Lucifer really seeming to come across as a straight miss of late. It's like they know what their doing, perhaps a little too well, just gotta be a little more careful around Level 5 though they made up for Gundam AGE with Yokai Watch already.

Many argued that in-universe the adults basically were corrupt nd twisted the rules to allow it just to try to make Miho lose the match.

Basically because the enemy commander isn't suppose to be evil. the main antagonist is the politicians who wants to close the school. And they were the ones pulling the strings.

I just wonder how a Karl makes any sense in a match.
Its slow as hell, virtually unarmored, a big target, takes forever to reload and each grenade has to be loaded from a separate loader tank based on a Panzer IV.
A Sturmtiger would at least make a bit of sense if one really wants overwhelming firepower, but a Karl Mörser?

They had to use rail transports, because the Panther had very poor cross country capability.
The French did an assessment of the Panther in 1947, and determined that it was "in no way a strategic tank." (Although they did have some nice things to say about it, too.)

Speaking of which was this the show that gave Sumire Uesaka her big break? Either way Lantis seems to adore her and keeps seemingly getting her cast in shit. This stretch alone she's been in iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, GUP Movie I assume, Concrete Revolutio and is apparently playing the main chicks in Luck and Logic and Myriad Colors along with two other Key iDOLM@STERS, GUP's and Love Lives. I don't know but I think there might be some sort of favoritism going on. It'd be funny if eventually a sex scandal story breaks.
>>

That "assesment" was a political pamphlet meant to get funds to geit their own tank industry going again. It is about as objective as De Gaulle's opinion of anything british.
>>
>>133853494

Yeah they're like the number 1 publisher in the U.K somehow too now. Their growth this year seems to have been so sufficient they seem to be transitioning into pursuing newer ventures like getting into the Indian Mobile Gaming market, Virtual Reality shit and further expanding their profile in Europe and the Americas since their current ones should be printing money for a while. Anyway I wonder when the BD release will be for GUP and how long it's actually going to stay in theaters. It pretty much has until Star Wars comes out to make it's money and then that's just going to dominate all around world wide.
>>
>>133852930
This. It basically signaled a permanent yielding of the initiative and an inevitability of defeat.
>>
>>133853963
The Germans lost the initiative after Kursk.

>With the failure of Zitadelle we have suffered a decisive defeat. The armoured formations, reformed and re-equipped with so much effort, had lost heavily in both men and equipment and would now be unemployable for a long time to come. It was problematical whether they could be rehabilitated in time to defend the Eastern Front ... Needless to say the [Soviets] exploited their victory to the full. There were to be no more periods of quiet on the Eastern Front. From now on, the enemy was in undisputed possession of the initiative. -Heinz Guderian

>Then if might benefit me
"Then it might benefit me"

>Of course this guess has no evidence,
Really awkward. Also tenses are shifting. I'm gonna give a number of options, best sounding ones at the top:

"Of course that was just a hunch,"
"Of course that was just a guess," ... feeling, etc.
"Of course there was no evidence for that,"
"Of course that guess was not supported by any evidence" ... supported or backed up

>But I don't want to make the same mistake
This implies that she doesn't want to make the same mistake that somebody ELSE made, when I think she's saying that she made a mistake in the past and she doesn't want to make it again. If this interpretation is correct then:

"But I don't want to make the same mistake twice"
"But I don't want to make that mistake again"
"But I don't want to make the same mistake again"
"But I don't want to fall into the same trap twice"

Also this is the only bubble that I would say benefits from its comma. All the other commas would probably be better removed.

"by" is unnecessary and a little awkward

Take this with a grain of salt but apparently the movie has a 4.67/5 rating on Yahoo movie reviews. It's probably all hardcore fans doing the reviews though. Just as a comparison to other recent major late night anime movie releases:

Love Live 3.98 points

Yeah, the Tiger was extremely heavy (German tanks certainly were) but they learned to use wide tracks after encountering Soviet tanks.
>>
>>133860737
Some call the Tiger I "the road not taken" because the Germans stumbled upon what funtionally was a MBT (a tank with the mobility of a medium and the weaponry and armor of a heavy), yet instead of following that road they went to make the Tiger II (an old-fashioned slow-as-fuck heavy).

>>
Do you guys fap to Assam often?
>>
>>133861158
To be honest, the Tiger wasn't th one who started it. The "road to MBT" is one of mediums (that got the capabilitis of heavies; BT series (light tank with the weaponry of a medium) -> T-34 (well-armed, well-armored, fast medium developed from it) -> Panther (German "clone") -> Centurion (British answer to Panther, first MBT) and T-55 (development of the T-34 line, now considered "second MBT").
The Tiger (not a MBT but worked as one) stands BESIDE that line.
Also, didn't realize t until I saw YTC 6, the Tiger II also means the Germans steped OUT of the "road" when the Panteh kept develping towards a heavy, instead of a MBT.

Amusingly, the first American MBT (M46) was a heavy (M26) that got an engine that allowed to perform like a medium, which was the same as the Germans had.

>>133861416
>too expensive and difficult to mass produce for it to be really useful

Technically correct as they made more than one Centurion Mk2 before VJ day (technically "tankS", plural, and technically "of the war", even if they weren't even deployed before war ended). Mk 1 was actually like a Panther. All others were from "Ok-ish"-tier to shittier.

Not quite. The Cromwell was good for what it was and the Churchill was pretty excellent in its role.

Churchill 7s were fucking terrifying. Especially the Crocodile variant. Sure it was slow as fuck but it could literally go anywhere on any terrain and had stupidly thick armour.

Slow moving inevitable death with a flame thrower.

And the Sherman Firefly was excellent.

The Firefly was a good temporary measure, but that's it. They managed to get the 17 pdr on the chassis, but it was obviously too big, and fire rate, ergonomics, and an entire crew member were sacrificed. So it was effective until the British could actually get tanks of their own with the 17 pdr in the field, but they took too long.

>>133852684

Hunnicut puts the Panther as better than Pershing.

Those were generally the two latest and greatest mass produced medium tanks of WW2.

So, Panther was the best WW2 medium.
>>
>>133874910
Pershing is not a medium, it's a heavy. And it wasn't mass produced during the war. In fact, it was barely used in combat, only about 20 of them ever saw combat in Europe IIRC. Even then, it wasn't used very much in Korea until they upgraded the engine and suspension to make the M46 Patton.
>>
>>133875237
Classifying it as a heavy was largely for propaganda purposes. It was reclassified after the war.
>>
>>133875237

It was a medium compared to the Panther, and it was reclassified as such.

Panther, for its mechanical flaws (which Pershing had), was arguably the best medium tank of WW2. T-44 wasn't active.

It beat Pershing in gun penetration for its most common round available

It had similar armor

It was more mobile

M4s and T-34s, were really the previous generation, and Panthers had the ability to be made in the same numbers as those.
>>
>>133844125
did Erwin give her that stuff as a semi-confession?
>>
>>133876629
A Pershing shot a Panther three times in an engagement: once in the front and two on the sides. All three hits penetrated, and the side ones went through one side and out the other

Basically, in field/open country and at long range the Panther was an almost unrivaled tank killer, but it's advantages can fade away quick in different environments.

(In reference to Normandy)
>While the PzKpfw IV could still be used to advantage, the PzKpfw V [Panther] proved ill adapted to the terrain. The Sherman because of its maneuverability and height was good ... [the Panther was] poorly suited for hedgerow terrain because of its width. Long gun barrel and width of tank reduce maneuverability in village and forest fighting. It is very front-heavy and therefore quickly wears out the front final drives, made of low-grade steel. High silhouette. Very sensitive power-train requiring well-trained drivers. Weak side armor; tank top vulnerable to fighter-bombers. Fuel lines of porous material that allow gasoline fumes to escape into the tank interior causing a grave fire hazard. Absence of vision slits makes defense against close attack impossible.
-Fritz Bayerlein.

It was by no means a bad tank, though. And you're right, by the end of the war the T-34 was definitely showing its age. The T-34/85 was adequate to suit the USSR's needs, but it was a generation behind,; the Soviets responded to heavier German tanks by upgunning the T-34 rather than introduce a new medium tank altogether. So the T-54 appeared post-war.

>>
>>133876961

Yeah, and a Panther hitting a Pershing in the same spots would have penetrated the tank too (at least the sides ones. The mantlet might not have gone through. Are you sure the 90mm round on the Panther's mantlet went through?).

Just because a tank kills another tank doesn't mean it's better. Shermans took out Panthers and Tigers. A BMP-1 took out a M1A1HA in ODS.
>>
>>133877218
That wasn't to say it was better, just to point out that they can both penetrate each other. Arguing about with cannon is stronger doesn't matter if they'll both penetrate anyway. Although the 75mm KwK 42 did benefit from very good range, although it could not always capitalize upon that.

Also the gunner of the tank said it hit "just under the gun shield".
>>
>>133877330
>the gunner of the tank said it hit "just under the gun shield"
My grandfather got two Tiger kills with a horse-drawn field gun.
At least one was basically point-blank, pop the turret.

Which is to say, shot placement is key.
>>
>>133877501
Yes. Which actually means quality of the crew is key. A technologically superior tank with a worse crew is still going to have a rough time.
>>
>>133869571
It wouldn't have early in the war but during 1945 I'd say it would have been fairly commonplace as the German Army completely disintegrated.
>>
>>133876629
There are no rules for tank classifications, if they say it's a Heavy then it's a Heavy.

Text from the brochure

Working for the G&P animation team on the BT-42 project has been interesting and surprisingly educational experience for me.
I have researched Finnish tank history for over thirty years.
One of my special interests has always been the BT-42 story.
But still I found several matters during this project that made me study things even deeper or see matter from other point of view.
For example because the interior of the preserved BT-42 in Parola Armor Museum in Finland is missing some interior parts
it was quite interesting to figure out how the ammunition was stored in the tank.
I used the remains on the vehicle and its measures.
Then I found out the measures of the ammunition from old ammunition manual.
Finally some written war time documents explained the principle of the ammunition storage.
Only with all the sources together was it possible to know the structure of the ammunition storage.
Similar matters were the procedures of how the gun is aimed and loaded or how grew operated.
As a fan of Japanese anime I was really pleased to be able to have a peak to the anime industry and thier work.
What I saw is an animation team who is dedicated correctness in details.
And this is carried out in a way which does in no way harm the artistic side of the media.
I found it very easy and pleasant to work with this project .
Thak you for the opportunity!

Many of the shitty conflicts in the anime could have been far better if they were just tweaked a little bit. Loli president should have just outright told Miho from the start that the school was going under instead of making a half-lie and telling her that she'd be "expelled" if she didn't help. The fact that Hana's mother was against her participation in senshado was a good enough drama that didn't require the mom to SCREAM AND COLLAPSE IN TEARS in front of the camera like she was in a fucking Brazilian soap opera.

I'd say a good example of drama in GuP done right was Miho's backstory about the accident and why she quit senshado. It was believable, it advanced the plot, and most importantly it wasn't heavily exaggerated or overblown like the shitty drama in the show.

And no matter how you look at it, a government conspiracy is going to be cheesy as fuck when it's the plot of what's supposed to be a cute girls doing cute sports anime. There was no evil force or villainous bastards, just sports rivalry and some clashing motives, so WHY do we need manipulative villains in suits now of all times?

Really. If that's so, at least my poking around has value after all. For the record, (again) I haven't watched the film, but I do have a source, one that seems to have little reason to make this up.

http://kjya.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/2015/11/post-83bd.html

(Search for あと、女子のたしなみなのに、会長は男なんですな。)

To be honest, I'm actually kind of hoping that this is wrong intel because there are more less than pleasant connotations to such a scenario.

So my question. Have you watched the film? Or is this hearsay, like me?

I'm asking an honest question here.

Thank you for answering with information rather than a flame.

There are only 2 problems. 1) Your source (Pixiv encyclopedia it seems) does not actually say the JSF chairman is a woman, so it is not a contradiction of mine. 2) There is the slight problem of the Gerat. Even if we accept the hypothesis (we'll know when we see der film) that the chairman's a women, *someone* still approved that bleeder, which simply cannot be allowed onto the Senshado battlefield under its original form and the current rules.

As for the male theory thing, remember even according to your version, there are plenty of bad males in the show. Really, I don't mind my theories being false. I form them from what I'm hearing, and frankly too many of them have unhappy connotations. The show can definitely afford to not have some of them.

Some people, however, like to use whatever is available to start plotting theories - they can always change them later.

I'm more that type, and it is especially true because ultimately, I'm very eager to see this film one way or another and can hardly think of much else anyway. If only I was actually in Japan...

Anyway, I'm not, so I'm waiting like the rest of you. And I see this one Anonymous whose thinking along at least partially similar lines as me, so I might as well strike a conversation with him, no? Then I get bitten.

then just shut the fuck up and keep the theories to yourself.

as material comes out we have translators floating around who can help decipher runes if needed.

speculation without any basis at all, especially when there is little to no material, is a waste of time at best and at worst annoys other people who want to wait since they also have to wade through your "preconceptions" and it makes them more impatient.

1. Hana's mom's bitchboy
2. Yukari's dad
3. The faceless school dude who is just the bearer of bad news

All three of these only have a couple lines in one episode each. Outside of these there are assorted crowd guys who sit in the stands and have reactions to stuff. And later on both Hana's mom's bitchboy and Yukari's dad become crowd guys as well.

Very much. She just couldn't bring herself to do so by fear of the pressure keeping Miho from working correctly. I know, I *know*, Anime logic. But at least give them the credit of adressing that instead of just handwaving it.

> didn't require the mom to SCREAM AND COLLAPSE IN TEARS
From my former experience with headstrong moms who disaprove of their offspring's actions / tastes, this is actually par for the course. Not arguing with you about it being over-the-top, just pointing that overthetopness is the order of the day in that matter. Mom logic seems to be worse than Anime logic.

>I'd say a good example of drama in GuP done right was Miho's backstory
Agreed, as it served to drive the point home that "playing a game < having fun playing a game <<< lives" that GuP tries to convey

>a government conspiracy is going to be cheesy
Frm my own personal experience (took part in some political / educational stuf in my country, bak in the day), governments tend to get stupidly cheesy when students don't just do what they want - even more when they DO get what they (the students) want. Government logic seems to be worse than Mom logic. Just a case of "realism is unrealistic" here, and having tonks thrown in the mix only make sit more over the top.

>Panzer Leader, Heinz Guderian related an incident, which took place during a tank battle south of Juniville: "While the tank battle was in progress, I attempted, in vain, to destroy a Char B with a captured 47-mm anti-tank gun; all the shells I fired at it simply bounced harmlessly off its thick armor. Our 37-mm and 20-mm guns were equally ineffective against this adversary. As a result, we inevitably suffered sadly heavy casualties"
