There's a bit of poopooing but I think there's potential in this idea. If you have most episodes be at school or that kind of SoL'y, you could definitely swing this. It's a mechanism that you can also break in the finale to really up the stakes. You'd want them to see each other in person most times, though.

Guys, I'm still downloading the Balala The Fairies (巴啦啦小魔仙之彩虹心石/Bālālā Xiǎo Mó Ziān Zhī Cǎihóng Xīn Shí) animated episodes along with extracting their English subtitle transcripts from the official YouTube channel (yeah, at least the first animated series in full has official soft English subs on the channel, sadly none for the rest besides the animated "Balala The Fairies 2" follow-up season).

It's taking such a long time to rip the episodes. As of this writing I'm still at episode 16, and that's after grueling HOURS of downloading and converting. I expect to get all this done near sunrise.

Actually, ripping the subtitle tracks is fairly easy and quick enough (only takes like a few seconds), but the video files themselves are a different story.

I'll do a service for you by providing them in one huge Mega directory for posterity.

Responding to myself, but I should have explained further. I'll admit, this is part of a larger initiative to have a large downloadable directory to every Balala season and episode, even the live action versions and the movies. The first animated season along with its official soft English subs is only the beginning.

It might take a while to gather everything, but it will all be worth it for people curious. I might even dabble in a little unofficial subbing to the untranslated seasons myself and add that too (I tried subbing an unrelated Chinese cartoon, even so far as having a PRC resident as my aid when I need to understand something confusing grammar-wise, which was not too often)

As complete characters, I love Ellen but I feel like there was so much missing from her relationship with Hummy after she turned. So she's mostly potential.

I always did find it weird that when Ellen became Ellen, Hummy didn't go to live with her. Though I guess you could say it's because it's already been established that Hummy is Hibiki's cat and having her go live with Ellen of a sudden would be even weirder.

And yah, it would have been nice to see more Ellen and Hummy interaction after Cure Beat came along. We got to see a lot of irritable Siren and trusting Hummy. But we only got a few flashbacks that showed Siren and Hummy as super BFFs. It would have been nice to see a lot more of that relationship.

Agreed. It is a little funny that Hummy stayed with Hibiki, but that's why I liked the house-switch episode so much, it almost seemed like Hummy was there on purpose because she intuitively knew how Hibiki felt and how often she was left there on her own. I'm usualy not a fan of taking subtle touches like this and talking them out out loud, but I think there would've been potential for a really cute episode where Ellen wanted Hummy to live with her, but Hummy could find some way to express by the end that Hibiki needed her more. I probably would've cried.

Yeah, I don't know if that was your post, but I read that right after I posted and went, "oh... right... yeah, that'd be way better." Maybe you could combine the two ideas, that Ellen is sad (and maybe even a little jealous) that Hummy chooses to live with Hibiki and her finding the way to express it then be "rejected" by Hummy would be the character pseudo-conflict for the episode, and the end of the episode is a scene with Ellen wordlessly moving in.
