I think it depends in what you're looking at in terms of Digimon.

If you like an actual adventure and feeling like a 10 year old again, it'd be Adventure but if you like Digimon for lore and characters, you'd probably pick Tamers.

I think it sticks out the most that those two will usually be debated as which is the best

I rewatched both recently and while I really like Adventure, Tamers is better written in my opinion. Both (or most Digimon series in fact except maybe 02 but after the first 30 episodes it goes full shit) suffer from the same thing: really fucking slow beginning.
Tamers end boss was way better than Adventure end boss, but Dark Masters was a fun arc to watch and lead to a lot of development to the kids.

Thomas was fine but he's just boring. Masaru was a really shitty leader with a near Goku level of self reliance to the point where I was wondering why does anyone need to be there? I mean the franchise love for the hero and lancer trope is annoying and I'm glad Tamers and Savers did away with it by having everyone get the same amount of powerups by Masaru was just way too competent.

Yeah Yoshino is really one of the worst female leads in the franchise next to Nene. She's just nothing.

I'd like to say Frontier is actually sort of okay if you can get used to it not having partner Digimon (which definitely hurts it in the long run). It does have some cool Digimon designs and its take on Digimon lore is good too. It even has a full time actual adventure which was really missing from the franchise. Also the OST is fucking godly

It's just that it becomes really clear the writers like Kouji a LOT and since Kouji isn't the main character, Takuya is included (Takuya has some great solo episodes on that note. Remember when he became Ardamon?). The other kids start out as about as relevant as them and then get solely pushed to the side and this is Frontier's biggest fault is that they've unfortunately made this story that could easily include the other kids but somehow forgot they had to actually do things too. The story turns to dogshit too in general.

The other kids actually have Fusion Evolutions too. It pissed me off they were never used in show

While it never died it never really became as big as it once was after Zero Two and is now tredging on nostalgia like DBZ, Saint Seiya, etc. Xros Wars underperformed in Japan and outright bombed in the US and tri is mainly focused on getting back the people who grew up with Adventure, it'll probably never be a long-running franchise with a new installment every year like Precure again but its far from dead especially with new games coming out/
