It has been confirmed that the story is not actually based on any Jewish/Christian mythology and only uses certain elements because they look cool. That doesn't mean that the character designs cannot be influenced by famous creatures from Jewish/Christian mythology. Nobody disputes that with regard to Rei, so why not Asuka as well?
