Not anon above but adapted shit will always be worse than originals because the director has almost no freedom over the screenplay. Because it is an adaptation made to advertise for the original, it will inherently hold much less value, and constraints like deadlines, number of episodes, having to reach a certain point will most likely end up screwing the pacing. And a lot of anime original endings will shit the floor because it's something made on the spot that is supposed to serve as a makeshift conclusion, which will not always suit the characters' personalities or the universe.

There are a lot of reasons why Shirobako is said to be AOTY 2014 by a lot of anons. Being anime original is one of those reasons.

I think that the Japanese animation industry needs to split in two and dedicate one part to the adaptation of manga for advertising purposes, and the other part to studios that would be in charge of anime originals.

When did it become acceptable to continue endlessly making threads here long after their time? I mean fuck me we didn't even post about Gurren Lagann, Code Geass, or Haruhi to the degree that I see people posting daily threads on other topics with no real discussion.

Obviously I'm not against threads about old topics entirely, hell we have pretty good threads about 30+ year old anime, but "Madoka Thread Post Mami" followed by image spam and fanbase-derived meme spouting isn't exactly what I'd call decent discussion. There are still Katawa Shoujo generals what the actual fuck.

All that being said I liked it. The visual and music direction was more interesting than anything, and I'm pretty sure that most people who were shocked by how dark it got at times hadn't really watched many magical girl shows before. There was blood sacrifice and suicide in Sailor Moon for God's sake.

It's still my favourite, however I don't force my opinion on anyone.
I love everything of it, I loved it so much that I actually bought the Blu Rays, the manga (the spinoffs as well) and bought a few figs as well.

I can understand if others don't like it that's okay, for it was just everything I was asking for and more.
At this point I'm not even sad that it'll most likely not continue as a finished anime / manga is still better than one that ends with a shitty last seaon.

The TV series is honestly a solid 8/10 show but it's place in anime tremendously overrated. The movie is just fucking otaku cash-in nonsense though that arguably works directly against the themes and ideas established in the show for no particular reason but that they really seemed to think it was the twists and fuck yous to the cast that attracted people to the franchise and little else. Aniplex and Gen Urobuchi can't into natural character arcs basically.

It seems like Madoka has largely been eclipsed as the major work of the 10's at least in Japan and South East Asia by Love Live at this point anyway.

That's cause Urobuchi is really really fucking bad at writing characters that aren't just walking blocks of wood with almost zero personality that cover for philosophical concepts. He's arguably getting worse at it since Madoka TV actually did almost manage to have characters you could give a damn about as evolving plausibly human characters that act vaguely like people at times. Then again maybe it was just the performances of the cast covering for how he writes characters and dialogue.

The whole suffering thing was really popular on the top of the decade and when you think about it it's almost understandable because we were just coming out of a period largely dominated by sugary moe anime like K-On and whatever Kyoani was doing at the time in general and Aniplex made a really strong play on the whole "Hey look at how cool and edgy all this shit is! We're going to follow this up in a couple years with an anime original called Kill la Kill at Trigger" at just the right time too. People really needed something that was just different from the expected moe moe adventures of cute little girls and Madoka and that shitlord Iwakami exploited that need. Of course they can't really seem to figure out what the next thing to go with after maximum fucking edge is now that the concept is starting to cool off a bit. Cell phone game adaptations maybe?

I actually kinda hate it, because it devalues all other animus of its genre, and fags (aka fans) make it seem like is the best thing in anime.
Madoka is a magical girl anime for dummies, as it explains to you every aspect of it. In other series, they keep it ambigous. Say what you want as to why they keep ot like that (censorship, aimed at younger audience) but i like how they do it.

TLDR, Madoka is not a bad anime. but is not something special because its theme is present in almost any magical girl anime.

After all this time, it's still my favorite anime series of all time. Hell, Madoka is probs my favorite anime character as well.
