Overrated trash. Tries way too hard, which is typical of Imaishi.

I know that /a/ hates gurren lagann because its popular
But its good
Just like Code Geass
Both are masterpieces that got recognition and because of this they deserve to be shat at by /a/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfdDse20abI Found this yesterday, its great.
>>133771347
Yeah man, it's almost better than the origional
I watched the first 5 episodes and it was honestly the worst I have seen, but everyone praises it like heaven. How long before it gets good?
>>133771396
7-8 is when it really hits its stride.
>>133771396
I personally thought 2 and 3 were probably the weakest episodes but if you don't like it don't watch it.
If you want to watch it because it is popular it is only 24 episodes and you are pretty much a quarter of the way through that.
>>133770777
Unironically the best anime that was ever made.

Lucky Star was better.
>>133770916
>Steins Gate
At least Gurren Lagann was never a harem
I wish I was on /a/ when gurren laggan aired
>>133770841
Everybody can say that for every shows.
Keion tries way too hard to be cute, which is typical of KyoAni.
Monogatari series tries way too hard to have good dialogues, which is typical of NisiOisiN.
The Tatami Galaxy tries way too hard to be artistic and unique, which is typical of Yuasa.
What about saying something relevant?
regend of the garactic heroes
>didn't spoiler "You can't"
Bait thread ruined from the start
Gunbuster is better.
What is it with Gurren Lagann that attracts so much cancer?

>>133770777
Y'know, I realize its overrated as fuck, but few things do give you the same pumped up feeling of "FUCK YEAH" as Gurren Lagann does, although it does happen. I think part of the reason its so popular because it literally is babbys first adrenaline rush in anime.
I can only list stuff thats made me feel similar, and because I'm an /m/ fag, its mostly mecha
>Getter Robo manga
>New Getter Robo
>Getter Robo Armageddon

Off the top of my head. Theres definitely more, but those stick out the most.
Have some shitty edit I made earlier today in a Mazinger thread
Whenever these Devilman edits always get spammed I wonder if its the same guy everytime. I should start making note of what order their posted in and the filenames.

Space Runaway Ideon
All i remember from TTGL is that the first half was pretty fun, then it tries to do politics and then the moon is a bad guy for some reason and they go to space.
>>133773241
shut up, you
>>133771954
>Harem
>Where there is only one relevent girl
At least Kurisu won, but you can't call a trap + a tard + an outcast + bestgirl a harem.
The first half was 10/10, second half not so much. Especially the ending felt like they where running out of ideas. When all the Gurren Lagann members died at the end I didn't care at all. None of them got any worthwhile character development.
>>133774739
You didn't get any references?
>>133774832
What do references have to do with character development.
>>133774739
Not that it matters either way, but the movie retcons those.
Although it doesn't work perfectly sinceGimmy goes through his "I don't want to die like Jorgun and Balinbow" speech when there is zero motivation for him to do so.
>>133774898
Why did you want any character development in these kind of scenes?
>>133772907
Me too, it would have been glorious
>>133775022Because their deaths left no impact.and I obviously wanted the character development before those scenes. It's just stupid to try something meaningful that's supposed to get a strong reaction out of the viewer when they have done barely anything to justify any strong reaction.
I didn't give a shit, those overly dramatic scenes where just wasting my time and it pulled me out of the action.
Hurr, the stupid suicidal reckless Kamina, so inspiring! XDDDD
Fuck you. He was a faggot and I'm glad he's dead.
>>133775507
7edgy9me.
>>133775571
Face it. He was reckless and almost killed every one else because he was too stupid to know when to retreat. And yet, people say like he's motivational or some shit.
He was irresponsable, and that's it.
>>133775507
I couldn't take Kamina seriously because all of his bravado was obviously a result of having serious daddy issues.
Gurren Lagann is fucking trash for fags.

It succeeds in being cute, though
>Monogatari series tries way too hard to have good dialogue
Fixed the grammar, and no, it doesn't try to hard since it succeeds at doing so without trying "too hard"
>The Tatami Galaxy tries way too hard to be artistic and unique, which is typical of Yuasa.
Never seen it, so I have no idea.
How about admitting what you like kinda sucks?
>>133772907
Same
does anyone have any screenshots of the aftermath to episode 8?
>>133771222
Code Geass had a lot of flaws though. Mainly R2, like really it was a trainwreck and if it didn't have one of the best endings ever it wouldn't be remembered so fondly.
Gurren Lagann is far less imperfect because it knows what it's trying to accomplish, sets out to do that and only that, and achieves them spectacularly.
But because it puts all of its focus into a relatively narrow range of appeal, it's understandable why many people just don't like it or get hooked.
>>133771396
If you're not exaggerating about it being the worst you've seen, then keep going, it's borderline episodic for the first bit, but theclimax with Lord Genome halfway throughis GOAT. Keeping in line with the spiral theme, the show starts small and slow and continuously builds without really every stopping until it becomes astronomical.
>>133779324
There was nothing wrong with his grammer, stop trying to look smart. Dialogue is a noun, and is properly pluralized as "dialogues".
How about admitting that you just don't like Gurren Lagann, rather than it being inherently bad?
Opinions on anime are not objective, I've met plenty of people who hate K-On yet like other moe shows, and I personally hate the Monogatari series, even despite enjoying other Nisio works.
>>133779324
>completely missing his point
>those things don't count because I like them!
The point was that it's a completely fucking meaningless statement; it says nothing and is just a way of saying "I don't like this thing" while trying to pretend you have actual reasons beyond that.
>>133770777
easy, Gurren Lagann
fuk...
>>133779420
A lot of the so-called flaws of Geass even in R2 are relative and mostly "I/we don't like this" or "I think crazy stuff is bad" rather than actual problems with the show. Not all, but several. The fact it has such a great ending actually makes it not a trainwreck at all. It breaks the definition in half. Lelouch was also still a great MC even before that point.
>>133779420
>Gurren Lagann is far less imperfect because it knows what it's trying to accomplish, sets out to do that and only that, and achieves them spectacularly.
If you think Code Geass doesn't know that, then you don't know jack. Literally. Like all the morons who never bother to look beyond their noses, when the creators explicitly told the public that it was going for entertainment, period, and that over-the-top and unrealistic stuff was a-ok to achieve that.
>>133782243
>A lot of the so-called flaws of Geass even in R2 are relative and mostly "I/we don't like this" or "I think crazy stuff is bad" rather than actual problems with the show.
Anon, stuff being fucking off the wall retarded being bad is the norm. Liking it regardless is fine, but pretending that the entire plot being a fucking joke isn't a flaw is just silly.

>GaoGaiGar FINAL
Nothing in Gurren Lagann can match the hype.
>>133786404
I gotta rewatch GaoGaiGar sometime soon, but I'm not the kind of person to skip to the Finale on a rewatch, but fuck if the original series hasn't aged. I didn't notice it that much when I was first watching it because I was juggling it with Code Geass, so both were keeping me enthralled while letting me power on through, but I dunno if I'd be able to sit through 26 episodes of MotW until it gets crazier. Maybe I should rewatch it drunk or something.
Also the fucking Goldion Crusher is probably one of the most insane things I've seen in mecha.
