What is your personal anime of the year 2015, /a/?
Please keep taste insecurity to a minimum.
Non Non Biyori.
What's the point of making this thread every day of the week if you're going to get the same answer every time?
it's not as much "best show" as it is "the only show that didn't dissapoint to some degree"
NNB for SoL
Hibikek for drama
Symphogear GX for music
UBW for action
The inferior sister.
I can't pick between Houkago no Pleiades and NNB
Probably Pleiades since it's an original
Haikyuu is pretty solid.
Hibikek and Seraph of the End are/were pretty good as well.
Pretty much everything else this year has been shit to be completely honest with you. There's some so so shit like OPM but the majority was honest to Goodness shit. Much more so than the the last 12 or so seasons before this year.
Hibikek was fucking trash dude. The threads were fun but that was it.
Owarimonogatari of course.
>liking one knockoff man
The nigger literally did it better.
I loved it, got what I wanted, never was disappointed. I just sat down and watched it on my big screen.
That 4 month break was hell, but episode 24 made it worth the wait.
They were fun up to the point where to /u/ fags poured in. At that point they became imagedumps for retards lacking braincells and I abandoned the threads altogether. Earlier threads were quite fun though
holy shit you read in me like you read in a book.
are you some kind of Esper?
>all these plebs not picking the obvious AOTY
Nothing. There were a few good shows I enjoyed, but I don't feel any of them deserve the title best anime of the year. Here's hoping 2016 will be better.
One Punch Man.
I know, I know. I fucking KNOW, anon.
I kiiiiiiinda loathe having to admit it, but, in 10 years time, when people talk about 2015 in anime, it's going to be about One Punch Man.
OFFICIAL BEST OF THE SEASON RANKINGS STRAIGHT FROM JAPAN
3. One punch man
4. Shokugeki no Soma
5. Hibekek Yuriphonium
>giving a shit about who posts where the most frequently on an anonymous image board where you can't even tell that kind of thing anyway.
You need to direct your anger to something people actually give a shit about, friend.
Yahari would be a contender for worst anime of the year maybe
Anybody who doesn't post opm is either a hipster, faggot, sol enthusiast, troll or some combination of them.
The only correct answer.
>making assumptions about a scene you've never watched in context
why are so fucking dumb senpai?
>complains about shounen
>believes sol is an actually good genre
Please kill yourself senpai you are the worst kind of person
All I see is rule of physic and human physiology being violated, and I even asked if it was a sketch moment or were they trying to pass it for something realistic.
Don't need no contest except this.
Are you really so disconnected from reality?
Have you ever played volley?
Have you ever seen a ball flying in the air?
But I hate SoL and shojo as much as battle shonen.
Stawmanning hard, aren't you?
Actually, in general if a show can be categorized so easily in one category, usually it's bad regardless of the category.
The cute girls doing cute things defense force on full damage control
It's funny that this year had a lot of good series but I can't think of one alone to call aoty.
If I have to say one I'll go with Shirobako even if it started airing last year.
The best anime I watched this year was Girls und Panzer though.
I don't know about best AOTY, but I know about best OOTY. (OVA of the year)
It's just a guy jumping high jesus, suspend your disbelief a little and enjoy the quality animation you jaded fuck. This is anime we're talking about. If actually watched the damn show, you would know that it actually is faithful the actual rules, mechanics, and strategies of real life volleyball but with the added flair that animation can bring. It's not like Kuroko with the stupid shonen powers.
>it's a deconstruction of the genre
I fucking love OPM, but you're a fucking faggot for throwing out the "deconstruction" shit in your post
Nobody on /a/ fits that description least of all you. Nnb is a meme anime for closet fags, women and otaku scum. I refuse to take anyone seriously that believes this is aoty.
Usually I don't like the meguca's genre, but Pleiades pushed the right buttons.
Punchline was interesting.
Not really more mature stuff, just not so meta,
Protip: mocking a genre by exaggerating the meta, is still meta. Just like pretending to be a retard is still being a retard.
It's more the other guy running 10m and jumping higher than the first one while he and the ball are literally slowmotioned by a magic force.
I mean, shit like slam dunk was fun.
Even Attacker You! bean deformed volleyball made more sense.
you must watch AT LEAST over 100 anime to post on this boardr
Hard working, well adjusted adults can watch little girls be little girls and find it relaxing without immediately thinking of sex, unlike you.
>Doesn't like what I like (moeshit)
>Must be a crossboarder
This NNB as aoty meme needs to stop as is the casuals who call it a seinen. Berserk is a seinen, Vinland Saga is a seinen, Monster is a seinen. NNB is just a generic sol moeblob show designed to appeal to otakus and maybe families with little girls.
all of these plebs who aren't listing haikyuu can the fuck out of my face right now
Non Non Biyori
See the trend here? Well adjusted, working adults think all that action shit is complete garbage and love the simple things in life. Meanwhile children and manchildren love "deep" and edgy shit.
>/a/ desperately fawned over ufotable to deliver fate/stay night from the deen abyss for years
>now that it's out and it got the ufotable treatment, nobody cares.
As much as NNB and Euphonium are rightful contenders, MonMusu brought to the table what was most desired by this anon.
>I can't tell that feces tastes like shit unless I eat it first.
Debatable, been here since 2012
>less than 10 shows this year
Over 30, still far from the people that watch at least 100
No idea how thigs are there, but it seems you know a lot about it, why you don't go there?
OPM is still the best anime of the year, cry more.
I find it hilarious that people will dig up anime about characters fighting each-other with made up bullshit powers but refuse to watch an anime about a real life thing people do. You don't play sports I get it (neither do I), but you don't have superhuman powers or pilot robots either. The appeal comes from watching great character grow on the way the accomplishing something, and haikyuu nails that. It also the some of the most underrated animation quality
are trying to get a high score for the amount of shitty buzzwords you can use?
>On /a/ for 2-3 years
>Have seen only 31~99 shows
How is that even possible?
>hyped for OPM
>waiting for the dub because I actually like to watch my anime and not just read the subs
this post is the nail in the coffin for this thread. Too much fucking bait and casuals
Cyborg 009 vs Devilman OVA is pretty cool. Too bad no subs.
>I find it hilarious that people will dig up anime about characters fighting each-other with made up bullshit powers
I don't watch battle shows.
>You don't play sports I get it
I have played volleyball for 5 years, though.
>but you don't have superhuman powers or pilot robots either
>The appeal comes from watching great character grow on the way the accomplishing something
>It also the some of the most underrated animation quality
This clip is decent, but:
1) probably nitpicking
2) I don't know how it's rated by most, so I can't comment on over/under rated
Umaru is objectively /a/ AOTY and anyone who doesn't agree can fuck off back to leddit.
Only Memeaphiles like Umaru, hamster a shit.
Why would anybody agree or disagree with you?
Unlike what the shitpost-brigade believes, this thread isn't the "/a/'s official AotY 2015" thread, but "Your personal AotY 2015".
If Plastic Memories is your AotY, then it's your AotY, and only your dark repressed split personality would know what you really consider AotY better than you.
I've seen it, but I thought KinMoza and GochiUsa are better. And, whenever it's discussed on /a/, it's mostly about meme girl or waifus. So I was kind of perplexed that people aren't being ironic.
OPM followed by Symphogear
Don't ever take "what's discussed on /a/" as a basis for what people think, especially for very circlejerky shows like NNB. Also, calling you out on having shit taste. You're the cancer killing moe.
NNB is better than the manga, and OPM is a great addition where you get all the cool action with to notch animation.
There are some who do genuinely consider Non Non Biyori Repeat their Anime of the Year. Nothing wrong with that.
But the people here in this thread adamantly clamoring for Non Non Biyori Repeat to be the Anime of the Year and that One Punch Man is shit are just shitposters. They're incidentally also falseflagging as One Punch Man-fans pretending on hating Non Non Biyori Repeat.
In truth, those shitposters like Hibike! Euphonium.
People say that haremfags are worst while I think cgdctfags are even worse because order everyone here to consider their shit for aots/aoty. These anons are cancer.
Also, Hibike is drama anime not same as NNB.
Also, I watch all three types anyway.
Shirobako was this year? if not then Shokugeki no Souma
You were answered this yesterday. It's been Non Non Biyori every time this thread has ever been held and it'll continue to be NNB.
>see this thread
>think to self, "I bet it's just like yesterday, with a ton of legitimate replies for NNB, like always, and IRC samefag spamming OPM, a recent phenomenon."
>it'll continue to be NNB
In other words, trolls will continue to troll.
Everyone knows Wakaba Girl was AotS of the summer.
>fucking thousands of trolls
Non Non Biyori is the best anime of the decade; a perfectly executed iyashikei slice of life which will not only make you laugh, cry and feel healed, but also delivers profound messages about life such as the beauty of life's simultaneous transience and permanence. NNB is an emotionally powerful SoL tour de force.
>jet fuel can't melt steel beams
>posting a blank image
NNB > Yuri kuma arashi > Owarimonogatari > *
Thanks for the new phone wallpaper. Non Non Biyori is definitely one of the best anime out this year I'd say
Only NNB's character lineart is occasionally off. The scenery porn looks great and they've proven themselves to "get" iyashikei and mono no aware. They'd pull it off wonderfully.
One Punch Man is the best anime of the decade; a perfectly executed battle shonen which will not only make you thrill, laugh, and fill rejuvenated, but also delivers profound messages about life such as the beauty of life's simultaneous transience and permanence. OPM is an emotionally powerful BS tour de force.
The linework, cinematography, and animation are all subpar. And the backgrounds look really plastic. Especially in the second season, I feel like there's just no heart in it. The first season had a couple of moments like the very first scene, falling asleep under the tree, or the mountaintop, that I still remember admiring at least a bit. The second season had absolutely nothing. It was just so fucking dry and bland visually. Also they couldn't use music for shit in S2.
>The linework, cinematography, and animation are all subpar.
The linework and animation are average and they don't need to be anything more for the kind of show it is. The cinematography was brilliant in both seasons, and both seasons felt nearly identical in every manner possible. S2's use of music was excellent, especially in episode 4, which combined brilliant cinematography and brilliant musical direction to produce an emotionally powerful climax.
In conclusion, almost every single one of your subjective opinions is objectively incorrect and I feel those incorrect opinions would fit in better at >>>/v/
I enjoyed a lot of shows this year.
Gatchaman Crowds S2, Hibike and Yuri Kuma was the most enjoyable and hyping for me.
Show me a single fucking shot, webm, or whatever to support your claim. You don't even have to a find any brilliant cinematography, just show me some evidence of at least competent craftsmanship. I'll even take cherrypicking and forget about all the disgusting moments where they subjected me to filtered shots of boring country roads with cheap CG cars driving by. I fucking double dare you little pleb.
Iyashikai is unrealistic communist propoganda made for the weak.
The emotional climax interspersing contrasting shots of sun and rain, birth and death, etc.; its combined use of cinematography and music to enhance the emotional impact of this scene was possibly the single most well-executed scene I've ever seen in anime. This is on the same level of that scene in the field in Clannad Afterstory, you know the one.
lurk more or go back to your safe space where you can fell 'healed' fagger
The death/rebirth archetype accompanied by sunlight after the rain is a fairly obvious choice on the director's part. I'd be surprised if even an incompetent moron wouldn't make use of that. The shots themselves, however, didn't offer anything praiseworthy and the emotional impact of the scene was generated pretty much through narrative alone. It was probably the best moment in S2 though so I'll at least give you that. And I appreciate that they let the scene run a bit longer with shots of scenery, albeit not all that interesting, to let the emotional impact resonate before the end.
I feel kind of bad for criticizing this since it's so fucking cheap looking, but notice the lighting during the scene in the interior. There's no change despite this being so fucking obvious low hanging fruit to reinforce the death/rebirth shit. If there was a single moment in the show to make use of some talent in the animation staff, this would be it.
Come on you all know who what the real AOTY is. Pic related.
>The death/rebirth archetype accompanied by sunlight after the rain is a fairly obvious choice on the director's part.
This is supposed to appeal emotionally to a wide audience, not be completely unique high art. It's supposed to be obvious to get the message across to a wide audience.
>the emotional impact of the scene was generated pretty much through narrative alone
I take it you're not a musician. The music is absolutely perfectly choreographed to heighten emotional impact.
So is NNB and OPM.
Nothing wrong with memes.
>This is supposed to appeal emotionally to a wide audience
It's actually supposed to universally speak to people on a primal unconscious level. It's an archetypal cyclical movement utilized in art since ancient times.
>I take it you're not a musician. The music is absolutely perfectly choreographed to heighten emotional impact.
I forgot to mention music alongside narrative but that's still irrelevant to what we were talking about. And you still haven't provided evidence of the supposed brilliant cinematography.
The music is actually used well in this particular scene and stands out even more considering how anime doesn't usually use music that closely fits a particular scene. Still a lot of music in S2 was jarringly bad. I'd provide examples but youtube doesn't seem to have the OST up and I don't feel like going through the show itself.
>I forgot to mention music alongside narrative but that's still irrelevant to what we were talking about.
Your reading comprehension is sorely lacking:
>its combined use of cinematography and music to enhance the emotional impact...
>Still a lot of music in S2 was jarringly bad.
I don't recall an instance of this.
>Your reading comprehension is sorely lacking
>I like NNB but it honestly looks like shit.
This is what I'm trying to illustrate here. I omitted music from the source of emotional impact but it's irrelevant because my claim was that the visuals were insignificant.
>I don't recall an instance of this.
The music from most of the cheerful/energetic moments comes to mind.
>it's irrelevant because my claim was that the visuals were insignificant.
Then don't say:
>that's still irrelevant to what WE were talking about
and instead say:
>that's still irrelevant to what I was talking about
In conclusion, you are wrong because you are bad at English.
I have objectively proven the statement "NNB looks like shit" wrong by destroying your credibility by pointing out a single error in your speech. In addition, I am now reinforcing this rhetorical victory by posting a smug anime girl, the highest form of rhetoric.
In conclusion, Non Non Biyori is the greatest anime of all time, I am right and you are wrong.
Looks like this guy wins the argument.
Nice try senpai but you've made one crucial mistake. The Smug Anime Girl axiom has been debunked centuries ago and it has since been accepted that fedoras override smug anime girls.
I'm sorry but certain things (such as fedoras, frogs, or trashmen) simply transcend the narrow borders of board culture.
But just to utterly crush your pathetic excuse for an argument, here's the best of both worlds. Now it's completely clear that in terms of visuals Non Non Biyori sucks droopy hairy donkey balls.
>not a cute girl
You failed yet again. Non Non Biyori is mankind's greatest human achievement.
Why are you trying to regurgitate the same fucking trick? Face it, you've been beaten in both reason and meme. Honestly, I have no idea how you can still live with yourself
Also, behold what stinky plebs consider """"""scenery porn"""""".
I used to live in a town with a mountain road. That looks like a mountain road. Brings back nostalgic memories, actually, because it actually looks like a mountain road. I don't see the problem.
Why do you shitposters always have to bring memes into everything?
Non Non Biyori is a better anime than Neon Genesis Evangelion.
>still posting this fake
One Punch Man
Prison school Because hana is girl of the year
>Rokka no Yuusha
What a fucking joke.
Hibike. Nothing else came close.
There was beautiful visual direction, technically excellent kyoani animation, and wonderfully nuanced characters and script writing.
or maybe just you people being faggots.
>if the show i like is also liked by japan or japan hated shows i also hated, i call them man of great taste
>if japan likes a show that i hated or they hated shows that i like, then i call them for having shit taste.
Rokka No Yuusha.
You have good taste.
This is what a real hipster looks like, folks.
