A boy falls in love with a GNU.

Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the GNU's source code Never minding the strange code, he immediately compiles it, and is overjoyed to find out that it works with his on kernel well.

But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's compiling of the GNU, it only looks at him with a boolean expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the GNU he compiled is not the same GNU he fell in love with. In fact, i doesn't exist in this universe at all. It is the GNU's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with some Swede kek, who too is blissfully unaware of its crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the kernels of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of FREE SOFTWARE.

Five teenagers from different cities all over the country have all come to a small town by the beach for different reasons (summer jobs, visiting friends, running away from home, etc). They become acquainted with each other, and a few days into their stay in this town, they start noticing odd creatures occasionally appearing and disappearing, but whatever they are, they never long enough to find out what they are.

However, a strange person in white robes and a bandana with a toothy smile pattern covering their mouth soon approaches the kids, calling itself Sous and offering to reveal to them the secrets of this town and be their guide. One by one, they accept, and they find out what's really going on: the town exists in two planes of reality at once, Earth and the Spirit Realm, a world filled with strange, dreamlike creatures (and a few monster girls for occasional fanservice). All in all, it seems like it'll be a quiet vacation healing anime with lots of scenery porn of the beach and ocean.

And then shit goes bad.

Once the residents of the Spirit Realm find out that the kids are being guided by Sous, they start giving them cryptic warnings and even threatening their lives on occasion. An especially dangerous spirit nearly kills one of the kids, and Sous rips it to shreds with skills that a simple tour guide shouldn't have. And the main characters keep finding rumors about something called the Seven...

What seemed like it would be a few relaxing months spent at the seashore is swiftly turning dark. Will any of the kids survive to discover the town's secrets and escape?
