Did Iron Blood Orphans save Gundam after G-shit almost killed it?
Most of the old Gundams are in a shared timeline are should be watched in order
Most of the newer (since the mid 90's) Gundams are in their own universes and don't require any previous watching
As a long time Gundam aficionado I must say, best once since 00 which isn't saying much
Did it save Gundam? Who the fuck knows
You can just jump in with
Gundam SEED (Destiny as sequel)
and Iron-Blooded Orphans.
The ones you have to watch in order, you have to watch in this order:
Gundam 0079 (original, tv)
Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket (sidestory, OVA)
Gundam 08th MS Team (sidestory, OVA)
Gundam 0083 Stardust Memories (semi-sequel to 0079 and prequel to Zeta, OVA)
Zeta Gundam (direct sequel to 0079, TV)
ZZ Gundam (direct sequel to Zeta, TV)
Char's Counterattack (finishes off the story of 0079 - ZZ, movie)
Gundam Unicorn (has some plot points from ZZ and CCA, OVA)
Gundam F91 (movie)
Victory Gundam (TV)
TurnA Gundam (TV)
Gundam Reconguista in G (TV)
G-Reco is so far removed from anything that's in the other UC shows, it might as well be an AU.
You can just watch it.
Or better yet you can skip through it and just watch the scenes with nee-san.
They reference UC several times, there are some suit cameos and it's explicitly stated to have taken place around 1000 years after the UC ended. I put it where it is because I was giving him the chronological timeline. If you argue that being so far removed from anything makes it AU, then F91 and Victory might as well be AUs as well. I
Even if one goes production order, G-Reco is bound to be the last one, besides IBO.
fuck that's hot
Well shit, I can't say I am a huge fan of mecha but now I need to pick this up.
>better yet you can skip through it and just watch the scenes with nee-san.
This. Aina and Klim were the only likable characters.
What's important is the isolation. If it's a futuristic robot, then you can expect it to be at least as isolated as current space stations, right?
Is that too much to be expected?
Just shut up already.
Actually, I'm even more stupid than I thought. Isolation is one thing, but you still need air conditioning.
When the power fails, the inhabitant may very easily burn or freeze to death.
You were stupid, but I was much more stupid. Fuck, I need to stop posting uninformed bullshit on /a/.
0080 Hamburger Gundam is all you need to watch really.
Because the machines also have a working temperature?
Because 2 protections are better than one?
Because wearing a space suit at all times is uncomfortable?
Because that way they'd waste the suits power and air supplies before they're actually needed?
I thought the franchise was going to die with AGE, I got into Gundam at Wing and enjoyed 00. Watched SEED in high school, so at least the teen angst didn't go unwasted on me. would probably never watch it ever again with decent subs.
Unicorn was a great leap to recover the franchise, but that took way too long. Orphans will save it, but hopefully the next Gundam series will be better instead of turning into shit again.
I can understand what you mean, that Wing was a slippery slope away from war as a whole and put everything on 5 pilots shoulders.
You have shit taste to list those 3 instead of G-reco and AGE or Destiny though.
I'm torn about Aida. On the one hand I think she's a right unlikable bitch, but on the other hand her looks are pure sex. I kinda want her to step on me and then I want to be the one stepping on her.
>won't stop fighting even after his suit is damaged
>closes in to deploy secret canon
>ready to lose his life in order to save his comrades
So he really is Space Guts
Most accurate thing on this stupid chart
She's a real cutie.
As if we needed another top tier girl added to the mix between Hime-sama, Meido, and Loli. I really like her interactions with Mika this episode though, it had a lot of banter. And that last minute was fucking awesome
>Mika was glaring at Twintales something fierce
>About to rip her to shreds, possibly at the expense of his own life
>Guts was absolutely super fucked
>Orga says to come back
>All while the ED started up
Gundam is far too large and profitable of a franchise for one flop to even come close to killing it. As another anon said in one thread, its basically the Batman of Japan. Most of the general populace is aware of it even if they don't watch it, new shit comes out all the time, toys everwhere, regular video games, etc. It even has its own magazine that contains various ongoing gundam manga and news.
It's too big to die at this point. It would take a string of flops and the plamo building market abandoning the kits for it to be in any serious danger.
For the last time Atra doesn't have the courage to make that aggressive of a move. Mika thinks of her as a friend and so the only way for Atra to get anything worthwhile is grow a pair.
yeah i thought g reco was a pretty mess. There was a story in there but it was super rushed and the pacing was absolutely awful in those first couple of episodes. It wasted time on the pointless backpacks too. It did get better once they reached space but the final episode ended up being super rushed and poorly paced again trying to cram too much stuff in before it ended.
Still gorgeous though. I think the tone is a lot different to most gundam series too which puts a lot of people off.
So I haven't kept up with this series since Gundam 00. I'm really enjoying Iron Blood Orphans.
I understand there's also G-Reco and some kind of Gundam Bakugan Battle Brawlers crap.
Either of those any good?
Build Fighter is good since it's just mecha fanservice.
Build Fighters Try is boring as shit.
G-Reco is a hot mess. It looks pretty, but that's literally it. Avoid it all costs.
Unicorn, Origins and IBO are all enjoyable. Watch those.
I never watched Build Fighters, but I love Gyanko.
Does that make me a bad person?
First season of build fighters is fun despite the premise, you'll enjoy it more if you're familiar with the franchise as a whole as its mostly fanservice. the second season build fighters Try is pretty terrible in comparsion, was a cheap cash grab after the first seasons unexpected popularity.
g reco seems pretty hit or miss with most people
mostly miss, it looks good but the story is all over the place and can be difficult to follow for some people.
Theres the unicorn OVAs which had some nice animation and a great soundtrack but the story was kind of silly, id only watch it if you're familiar with most of the the universal century stuff.
not seen age or origin, from the looks of things with origin youre probably better off just reading the manga
the only redeeming quality of TRY. Still unforgivable that there was no best milf
Gundam never appealed to foreigners because there's few Gundam shows that are actually good on their own. Tomino's way of directing is totally incompatible with the Western audience, that's why shows like NGE or Code Geass were far more popular here than Gundam.
