But Chitoge went over the ideas in her head already. She can't confess because she was always mean to Raku and so she thinks he doesn't like her. So she's been taking her time trying to get Raku to like her more before she tries to make things romantic.

Hence the reason why she tries to look her best for him, do things he wants to do, and help him when he's in trouble.

The only girls that tried more than her are Yui and Marika and you saw how things played out with them. They showed their hands too soon and lost it all as a result.

Yui and Marika were always filler girls and never real contenders. Chitoge has been just as slow and beta as Onodera if not more in terms of trying to get things moving with Raku, which already bit her in the ass when he unceremoniously friendzoned her despite him already subconsciously liking her by then. It doesn't really matter if she ran things over in her head, that's what being beta is. Raku eventually coming to like her is mostly due to being forced to spend more time with her compared to Onodera due to the fake relationship, this whole "Raku just convinced himself he likes Onodera" justification doesn't stand up to scrutiny because multiple chapters have shown they have actual reasons to like each other and they're a good match whenever they're together alone. Sure, you could say the same about him and Chitoge, but him gradually leaning from one side to the other doesn't feel like a naturally occurring development, it feels like it was setup and enforced via bullshit (like the aforementioned random interruptions during Summer of the first year and last Christmas) and Chitoge being shoehorned more and more in other girls' arcs as the story went on.
