What's the greatest transformation/power up scene ever animated?
Magical Girls included
The dub is better. Omnimon speaks, the music is more fitting and varied.
If you disagree you are a fucking retard, the only complain you can have is LETS KICK IT OFF. Which I enjoyed.
Digimon is only good dubbed. Jap Adventure is horrible but in the dub is great. The jokes they added are what makes it, the original is boring and the music in the dub is good too (Not muh jpop). Also names are easier to say and more realistic and they made it more like what it is, a kids show. Jap version is boring as fuck but dub is high energy and full of fun and goodness, way better. Anyone who watches the Jap version is just a retard and everyone who watches the dub agrees with this.
The power of aspect ratio changing was quite possibly the most hypest power this year. Wish there was more shit like this, the kind that just straight up breaks fourth walls.
>People legitimately think this
>It's better because he talks!!
Omegamon not having a speaking role is fucking mad, its what shows he's on another level to everything else. The music, I guess I can almost agree with, but it's not like the Japanese music wasn't fitting.
It's the scythe isn't it?
Also, Ronin Warriors was pretty cool
Can't, you're right.
I feel like the Omnimon scene is always brought up within the first 5 posts every time this kind of thread is made just because a lot of people watched it when they were 6, so the nostalgia goggles have thickness of untold proportions. Same goes for the "The dub is better" widespread opinion that inevitably comes up soon after.
Just as a comparison from the same series, the Wargreymon digivolution or any of the key evolutions for Patamon and Gatomon are way more hype and carry much more weight than the omnimon scene.
But they never come up because a lot of the people who watched the movie at 6 probably just watched the series itself on tv, sporadically, and never even saw its topical points.
Anyone else feel like the first Super Saiyan transformation is just underwhelming?
I've seen the scene in multiple languages, with at least three different soundtracks backing it, but it just feels a little short and anticlimactic no matter what.
I never followed Digimon and I'm watching this for the first time right now. Why do dubs always feel like they don't give a shit about voice acting. It doesn't fit at all. Do American kids talk like that? It sounds so retarded.
Fun fact: Tai's voice actor left the industry entirely to become a stage hypnotist.
He once griped he got paid more for a cameo on Spongebob than for an entire season of Digimon.
Yeah, I have to say WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, and then dubbed Omnimon for nostalgia reasons. If I popped in my DVD of Digimon: The Movie and skipped to the Our War Game part, I will choke up when Tai and "Matt" go into their computers, just as I recently choked up when seeing Warp Digivolve for the first time watching Adventure in its entirety last year, as I somehow missed everything after Etemon when I was like 5
The problem is the lack of real voice direction. Things like wooden reading, mispronunciations, and weird intonations or inappropriate emoting could all be corrected by a competent voice director. He'd stop the cut and say "you messed that up, it should be more like this."
Yet you can tell in most English dubs there's no process like this. As long as they read the line word for word and match the lip flaps they go with it.
Funnily enough, even though Funi is infamous for censorship and low quality subs, their dubs are among the best in the current English dubbing scene. You can tell the VAs have put a lot of practice into the characters compared to, say, Sentai dubs.
Oh yeah, by the same director and everything.
Summer Wars to me felt like the guy want to have a version of the story without the Digimon branding attached to it, but watching both, they're so similar that I think it makes the newer movie come off kind of cheap.
This was seriously perfect after all the despair. Sad that long running animu won't ever have such a good scene in a movie again.
This was pretty awesome too
Just got around to finally watching Summer Wars. First thought when the thing transforms into that Hindu god form was "holy shit it's Diaboramon!". Even had the nuke (satellite) coming down at the end and everything.
Would something that small really create an explosion that big? I know it's from space, but it seems excessive.
>not Karin's awesome fight
I just love how fan opinion of her literally did a 180 after that fight, before then she was pretty much a tsundere azusa-clone who jobbed
I always knew she was best girl though
But she'll never get her happy end because she's doomed to lose the Yuunabowl
ITT: shit taste
This reminded me of first angemon transformation, everybody expected patamon to evolve in some cat/dog/other furry bullshit, but then he evolved in this badass motherfucker.
WTF why the english dub has random lines?
The only thing that I dont like about the original version is that some of the Digimon when they evolve they still have the same voice. I watched digimon in another country and im glad that the rest of the world get the series straight from the original version except for a few things, I remember that some of the dialogues where really depth and my parents where like ''is this a kids show?''.
Remember when Naruto was good? Me neither.
