BLAME! movie announced.
If they bothered adapting all of the second half, most of which is completely pointless, then they'd probably need two more seasons. That said, much of the development of the first half ends up being pretty pointless as well with that ending.
In my opinion, most of the manga after Benisuzume's defeat is pretty shit, so I really hope they're gonna do an anime original ending.
Tbqh I was telling you since the 3 of November that there would have been a Blame! anime.
I only didn't know it was a movie and not a series.
Oh, yeah, forgot to add source
for who understand Japanese on Italian, watch the video from 30 minutes in
>delicious lanky Cibo animated
Y E S
now we can now make Cibo a proper waifu and piss off mature seinenfags defending this shitty series
your face is shitty
Cibo a cute tho
Nihei himself gives Polygon an approval, plus he also involved in the making of the anime.
Styles change through time. I kinda like cleaner style that he drew in the latter half of Sidonia manga more.
I know, I know all too well.
When I asked him he himself told that he was tired of such a dark style, and of people not understanding what he was making, and that it was a natural evolution.
Also, it may be the right time to post this.
which BD has the longer version of this, sidoniafags?
They make the best gloomy atmosphere and it's about time they adapt a series that isn't utter garbage
It's never gonna be as great as Nihei's art, but definitely better than CG we're most likely gonna get
100% sure that it's from Polygon Picture. They did a CM on the episode 8 of sidonia:
>>133639144 or here >>133641054
i also doubt it will be only one CGI movie. Maybe 3 like Ajin?
They can still build that in if it matters so much. The action was pretty bland for the most part as far as I remember anyway.
What matters most to me is that the manga's ending makes almost all of the story development throughout the series pointless. It answers no questions and resolves barely anything. And then it just throws a few pointless curve-balls in there for good measure.
it's also red on the new edition cover
So it's a movie after all?
Prepare for butchered pacing and huge chunks of the manga omitted.
How are they going to fit that into a movie. They're going to have to cut a lot of things. It is an atmospheric manga after all. I don't want them to cut out too much scenery porn
Season 3 would only be justifiable if it had an anime original ending. There was some cool stuff in the second half of the manga, but it ought to be picked out selectively.
I really need this holy shit the manga was such a letdown.
There were indeed some good parts, it's unfortunate that they just didn't really mean anything with that ending. One of the strangest things to me is how gauna Sho brings the idea of gauna copies having the memories and personality of the original back into the spotlight again and then it's swiftly forgotten again. That shit really got my hopes up for BeniJiro's return.
bu Blame new edition need to sell
And what about the interior of the ship Shou's Gauna clone as born in? Unless it was all a visual delusion of hers, it seemed as though the Gauna were trying to copy and read the minds of the pilots they capture, then physically interpret those memories.
I think that's really cool because it reminds me of
Stannisslaw Lem's Solarisbut I'm probably reaching pretty hard.
The problem with Sidonia was there is no way we can find answers to all Gauna related questions because they can't speak.
Any attempt to change it would destroy the entire world building, so I prefer to have several implications and interpretations.
I really wanted all of Sidonia to be converted to placenta, and have Nagate return home, not being able to tell the difference.
But I guess "haha the cluster ship accidentally terraformed the planet" and "let's all have babies" were good endings too
Why don't you post the full version?
Here is it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDA1bUkotIk
Look good to me. It's pretty obvious that Polygon is behind this. Maybe the movie is almost ready?
>I think that's really cool because it reminds me of Stannisslaw Lem's Solaris but I'm probably reaching pretty hard.
Not that hard apparently. The giant Shou chapter might be my favorite in the entire series.
And I'm still mad about Yuhata.
>And I'm still mad about Yuhata.
That was probably the most useless twist the could have been tacked on there. No "reproductive" justification or anything. It's like Nihei was afraid to show a simple same sex relationship despite all the "muh transhumanism" and the fact that Izana was gender neutral when they first met.
I've been waiting for this for more than a decade, Killy.
The really sad thing is that you see the same apply to other anime too. Even for a lot of straightforward shows, you still have people bitching about non-existent plot holes because they don't pay attention.
No wonder the typical anime needs a shit ton of narration and echoing of the same damn information.
I personally prefer either Digimortal or Noise to be adapted instead. They're both relatively short and much more action oriented and have more action, so they're more likely to have a bigger audience. I'm excited about Blame but at the same time I'm worried that it might not be as well received.
Is there any additional cost in making a 60 FPS CG movie (other than the rendering time)?
I mean, it can be a pain in 2D because you have to draw more frames, but I don't if that makes any difference in 3D.
Vague on when in the manga it happened, but it was something about Nihei removing a cage that in the original prevented Killy from shooting. Reprint just had him standing there. That and a general complaint that the reprint looked more like the later half of Knights of Sidonia.
Will it be same 3DPD as in the Shitonia?
it really doesnt match the style or feel of Niheis art at all. A grittier animation style (maybe like Hells movie) with backgrounds similar to those shorts forever ago would be ideal. The cgi feels floaty, and too crisp and clean for the atmosphere it wants to convey.
Only thing that excites me is the chance of a Chibo/Killy scale.
The manga's art change completely from the 1st to last volume so I don't think it's such a big deal. The first few volumes were actually clean as fuck and even a decade ago it reminded me of CG
I wonder why Nihei got worse with time, Sidonia being the most terrible.
I disagree completely. If anything later Blame used even more crosshatching and grittiness. His art didnt start to get ''cleaner'' till end of Biomega, and honestly till mid Sidonia. And even then, the cgi looks like shit in general, disregarding the lack of style match.
I can guarantee Sidonia would have been more popular if it hadnt been cgi.
>If anything later Blame used even more crosshatching and grittiness.
That's.. exactly what I'm saying.
Check the first BLAME volume again, it's so clean it looks like some CG works.
Thanks fuck the Sidonia anime doesn't look like the awful manga at all.
no, even the first few volumes are full of grit. I own all the volumes, and just looked through volume 1 and 10. Neither remind me of cgi at all.
The Sidonia manga doesnt look bad, it just is rushed looking in comparison to most of Nihei's other work. It would look much better not cgi.
The Sidonia anime still looks better than the average traditionally animated show. It's sad that many people dismiss it based solely on it not being what they're used to. It's not fantastic, but it could have been much worse.
Why do people say this? Artists change over time, and Nihei himself said he likes how he's progressed and what he does now feels natural. Calling it a betrayal of his old style is stupid and frankly, rude. Just say what he does no longer appeals to you, it's not like his old stuff has vanished.
Whoever is going to be voicing her better be fucking good.
I was just posting something related, I dont need to cherry pick as I have the volumes open in front of me. Do your own research faggot.
I cant stand looking at the characters, even though I watched it all. And the frame rate was bad. The clip of Blame! looks marginally better, but not by much.
>To Blame and BIOMEGA [Nihei] never thought of a narrative structure, it had not been established at the beginning. The story was created along the way. To Sidonia he has faithfully followed the story he had conceived
Fags will argue against this.
>I cant stand looking at the characters
Well, I'd say it's a matter of opinion. I found it a bit strange at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly. It's great for the battles, especially.
it was more about how they moved, and the shader. The mechs and world looked alright. I got use to it as well, but couldnt help but think every episode 'this would look better not in cgi'.
>'this would look better not in cgi'
It could go either way. Being traditionally animated certainly wouldn't guarantee that it would look great. But sure, if it had the budget and was made by a talented team, it would probably have looked better.
Yeah, Killy basically insta-shoots anything through that manga. Removing the cage removes his reason to not shoot. But I dunno, I haven't seen how the reprint compares to the original, and this one tiny change, while probably unnecessary, isn't enough to trigger my autism.
Render time is the big one, it straight up doubles the amount of time needed. So if rendering that movie takes a few weeks. Well now your looking at a month or 2 of just rendering.
if anything, Blame would be way too weird if characters looked... 'alive' for lack of better word. CG faces always look sort of ceramic and fake and that's perfect for Blame.
Mods are dead. That being said, its now not the first Nihei big adaption, and its by Polygon Pictures. If this was pre-Sidonia, it would be a huge storm.
It needs to cover it all I think. Alot of the manga is traveling, which can be montage'd or just sped through. I would not be surprised if the ending is more conclusive
Only because RWBY shit got out of hand.
>this whole fucking part animated
>No one talks about the manga on the right
I read Hengoku no Schwester while in Japan.
It was a pretty neat manga.
I hope a scanlator picks it up.
If anybody wants chapter 1 it's here:
>Tried multiple times to read BLAME
>Its chicken scratch art kinda fit the depressing shit world but still, its the same scratchy art.
Welp, maybe the anime would hype it up for me to pick it up again.
Worse, he pointed out that Benijiro DID come back, but Tsumugi is pulling a Clonochiai and keeping her suppressed.
Fuck, I'm mad. Just kill off Tsumugi and never bring her back in the anime original ending. Get rid of her, please. I hate that NTR spawn.
>more cgi shit
ive wanted a BLAME! anime for years, but not like this. jesus what a waste. this cheap cgi stuff can work on sidonia since its so sterile looking but not blame. shame.
>Fuck, I'm mad
You and me both, anon. I didn't even hate Smoogy until that happened, although I always found her very uninteresting personality-wise.
So he actually planned that pointless crap of an ending from the start?
Nihei better not be selling out.
I was hoping that after finishing Sidonia he'd go back to doing more weird and creative stuff.
>It's fucking CGI
I know Sidonia was CG too, but, if its a movie, they should have a budget for something decent.
It'll look amazing and nobody will understand what the FUCK they just watched
>no sticky when the news was posted yesterday
You were warned and you did not listen.
I imagine the popularity of Sidonia is what spurred this on. I can't imagine any other reason they would make a Blame adaptation after so long.
Toasting in a sticky. I don't even read Gantz anymore.
This is all for now.
Sleep well, cibofriends.
I always imagined Blame! with no music at all, only sound effects, even during action phases.
I don't want these loud "epic" BGM. It doesn't fit at all with the atmosphere.
The VA is top notch.
I've never read blame or Sidonia. Is it any good?
Yea, Blame can get a bit confusing, and Sidonia isn't a good as blame, but both a definitely worth checking out if you like sci-fi I haven't kept up with sidonia, but I liked what I read, I keep hearing the ending was a let down.
Oldfag detected. Go home. We're a dying breed.
What are you looking forward to seeing animated the most /a/?
Yes, it is. The main reason is how detailed you want your animation to be. When animating in 3D you basically just specify a bunch of key poses of your model and your 3D package will take care of creating the in-betweens. Now the problem is that you can't really directly control what your in-between model's pose will look like, so you have to create more keyframes manually between the ones you made before to correct it. You then repeat this iterative process over and over until you're satisfied with the result. Since there's more frames in one second at 60 fps you'll end up having to create more keyframes by hand. Of course, this won't make a huge difference if you stopped at the level of details you'd expect at 24 or 30 fps but from what I know that is how great studios are doing it.
I honestly haven't read it in a few years, but the my favorite part had always been the AI(?) and that knight she kept reviving. And every time he'd come back a little more insane.
I think the movie could do the short Bio Electric Corp arc where Killy meets Cibo then the TOHA arc with maybe the first chapter adapted at the very beginning. I would love to see
animated. Movie budget swordfight with some of the coolest characters would be awesome.
Just off the top of my head (this refers to the last couple volumes of the series, not just the final chapter):
- Gauna gradually stop being interesting enemies and the powercreep makes them less and less threatening
- the action becomes more and more spread out, both in terms of location and time
- gradual decline in lineart and inking quality
- boring new mechanical designs
- Tanikaze, Izana, Tsumugi, and Yuhata are almost completely written out of their own final battle scene
- several plot threads are completely dropped in favor of making Ochiai the one true villain
- Ochiai's motivations are never properly explained
- Kunato comes back from the dead and turns into a good guy for no reason
- rushed "shipping" of all the main characters in order to please the romcomfags
- nobody dies
- we only got 61 sights of Sidonia
Nihei has never been good at endings, but Sidonia's was his worst one yet; mostly because of how long and drawn-out it was.
>blame as a movie
It won't work, it just fucking can't.
>yfw we won't even get this much detail in scenery in the movie.
>the trailer was a double ruse and was an actual product trailer the entire time
>the sticky thread is slow and with next to no shitposting
Everything is right in the world.
Well, Nehei wrapped it up pretty much enough for S3.
>Season 3 would only be justifiable if it had an anime original ending
Well, I don't really care much as long as it is gonna be made.
>with next to no shitposting
I wouldn't be so sure about that. Things have been peaceful because the shitposters are too busy in the rwby thread at the moment. And that thread has hit bump limit.
Is it even possible to make this look passable without a half billion dollar budget?
Choose your CIbo.
The image lacks lvl 9 Cibo.
>Sidonia English manga does well enough that Netflix airs the anime
>BLAME! gets a movie
>most likely no one is going to publish BLAME! reprints in English because TokyoPop are dead Jews
>tfw I still have to scour the Internet for overpriced BLAME! tanks in shitty TokyoPop quality
Alternate Cibo was the sexiest Cibo. I just wanna bury my face in that cyborg booty. And you know she's been needing it because she ain't gettin' it from Killy.
Not to worry, anon. Vertical has likely been in the process of acquiring/vetting the series for a license rescue. They even have those nice, newer editions of BLAME! that came out in Japan recently to use for their tentative release.
Well whoever it is is going to have to find a way to capture her mechanical angelic perfection. She is literally best girl in every possible aspect, they better not fuck it up with an inappropriate voice.
I do hope so, but I'm also already halfway through collecting TokyoPop's releases, and if the new versions come out in English I will have arguably wasted a couple hundred dollars. Then again, nothing will be truly wasted, as I obviously really love BLAME! enough to have spent so much on out-of-print volumes
Are you fucking kidding me? This shit is phenomenal. Before Sidonia was adapted none of us ever could have dreamed we'd be getting a legitimate Blame! movie. Of course whether it ends up being good or bad has yet to be seen but damn it you will not ruin this for me. Let me have my moment here.
so long as they render in something other than eyecancer-inducing 12 fucking fps like sidonia did
that shit still keeps me from recommending it to as many people as I otherwise would, there's just no fucking excuse for it at all nowadays
Assassination Classroom S2
Gintama Shogun Assassination Arc
Fairy Tail Zero
Sinbad no Bouken TV
Fate Heaven's Feel
Prsima Illya 3rei
JJBA Part 4
Inevitable announcement for Chihayafuru Season 3, ;_;
I mean, I love Blame, but come on mods
can some one explain the ending to me? did the kid at the start of the comic have the gen?
does the ending imply he is stuck in a cycle of having a human with the gen die on him then having to start at the bottom again? is that why he has an ancient grudge with the cyborgs?
This is some bullshit. Still mad no Kizu sticky.
Some mod has good taste imo. I fucking loved Blame and Biomega; they really helped pull me into manga as a whole because I wasn't interested in the typical popular shit like FMA or whatever.
Nihei's works should all be adapted imo; they would be incredibly different from most everything else we know if done justice. Blame, especially with a right soundtrack and directing would be fucking orgasmically atmospheric, dripping with emotion without saying a single word.
I'm actually sort of pissed it's a movie and not an adaptation. At least a good budget should do justice to the amazing architecture/design porn in the series, and maybe it spurs a later full adaptation or movie series.
I really don't think it matters what kind of format it's in as long as they get the atmosphere down, which you can argue can be done better with the budget and condensed content of a single movie. I'm just going to wait and see what they do with it.
>cover art with rest of cover edited out
do you have the rest?
Pre-Sidonia, Nihei's works are mainly mega-structures, silicon life forms and cyborgs. That sort of shit works with CG.
Stop being silly. CG is a tool. If used right, it can be good.
>neo/a/ mad that Blame! movie gets a sticky
>almost no one in thread
what is going on here
>CG is a tool.
>If used right
And a lot of times its not "used right". Japan fucking sucks at using CG and when they do use it, it looks lazy as fuck. Seriously, you're not going to get this level of detail without it looking dated as fuck with the way Japan does GCI.
>sticky is cold, bleak, empty, and populated sparsely by hostile assholes
I don't know if it was just a bad translation but when I read it I couldn't make any sense of what was happening outside of the nearly completely silent gaps where it's just action and scenery. After a while I just stopped reading it because it was like I was missing huge sections of story every page that went by and nothing any character said made any sense in context.
Dialog is probably one of the most unimportant parts of Blame
Am I the only one who found the manga hard to follow? When I read it I felt like it jumped around so damn much I couldn't really keep track of what the fuck was going on or who was doing what or why anyone was doing anything. Cool set pieces and designs though.
Watched that teaser. It should be awesome.
>Missing the shitstorm
I'm still mad
The signs were there, but Izanafags just didn't want to see. Oh well, that's what shippers do best.
>Nihei's shittiest manga
guy on tumblr called herrurst making biomega props for some short film
Nah what's really unusual is a sticky that went on for hours and never reaching the 500 bumb limit. This is going to be archived as the saddest sticky for the wrong reason of all time. I don't know if I want to laugh or cry at this.
I also thought it was blueish. And it looks like it was at one point, I wonder why they changed it? I think pic relate looks better.
