It's a Japanese thing mostly; Japanese childhood has a lot of freedoms in that kids tend to get away with certain things but there is also a very heavy emphasis on conformity that doesn't manifest at all in English speaking "western" nations like it does in Japan. It is kind of hard to explain properly but a lot of growing up Japanese in Japan can almost be considered like being in the military. There was some sort of anniversary anthology or something for Azumanga where a whole pile of guest artists did a few pages each. Barasui was one of them. I'd have to look into it but thinking back on it I'm pretty sure in one of the afterword sections for one of the earlier volumes he talks about "recently" buying a lot of junior idol magazines, for "inspiration", or what have you.
Not entire sure if it has been translated. It isn't all that uncommon for scanlators to skip that sort of stuff, even more so when it is small hand written writing and the like. Harder to edit out properly for the target translation language but likely more to the point that a lot of scanlations are done by people who aren't really that familiar with Japanese and struggle with hand-written scrawl compared to clean computer fonts.
If you skim to the back of each volume maybe you'll find a small section with Barsui in a mini comic talking about various things. In the first volume (I think) he sort of explains that Ichigo Mashimaro came about when a friend suggested he draw a loli focused entry for a magazine. This explains the difference in early art before and after serialisation: long story short is that he didn't expect it to be picked up and there was a large-ish time gap and his character designs changed.

This is where you need to stop and read what was actually posted. The spreadsheet discussed related to DJT contains many series of manga, light novels, etc. for which torrents do not exist. They were pulled from Share/PD and a few Chinese sites and uploaded.

There are probably at least 100gig of manga alone that you aren't going to find torrents for. Of course you wouldn't know this because instead of looking into what was being discussed, you decided to inject yourself like a proudly ignorant newfag.

Funny inconsistency: in the adaptation Ana makes a point that her name is "アンナ", not "アナ", when they are looking up name-kanji. Miu riffing on "Ana" and "穴" (hole). This didn't occur at all in the manga. Ana just got pissed off.

There are 2 different OVA releases. The first OVA release, 3 episodes in 2007, are produced with noticeably better quality. Also were some of the most entertaining episodes of the entire series.

The second OVA, 2 episodes in 2009, are weird as fuck. The faces look rounder and like they have downs. But if you can ignore that, the content is still decent. Definitely not the best two episodes, though.
