Why is incest in practically every Shounen series but barely a handful of Shoujo series?

Guys want to fuck their sisters.
Girls do not want to fuck their brothers.

Females have shit taste

Do you watch Utena bro
>>
OP you're a nigger and a newfag.
Incest is definitely more common in shoujo. And mahouka isn't shounen, dickface.

>>
>>133567776
It's just as common in shoujo. But shoujo prefers ones where it happens after a long absence or their first meeting, while shounen prefers ones where they've always been together.
>>
>>133567959
Mahouka is an LN, it doesn't belong to either one or the other. And dengeki magazine is actually seinen.

But there are shoujo incest mangas out there like that one about vampires or that Ceres anime thing.
>>
>>133568171
No, but obviously you are since you don't know that shounen, seinen etc depend on the demographic of the magazine. Dengeki magazine is aimed at young adults and above, so it's seinen.
Mahouka's novel is serialized under dengeki bunko, standard novel genres apply for it.
It's sci-fi, action, military, political and so forth.

You mean BL-themed shounen manga? Plenty, but they're not all gathered under one label as neatly as you might prefer. I know at least Owari no Seraph is serialized in SQ Jump and so is Blue Exorcist.

That's true though. The majority of subscribers of yuri periodicals are women, and women make up the bulk of yuri manga artists.
>>
>>133567776
> Why is incest in practically every Shounen series
It's not. It's in very few actual shounen, and a good number of male-targeted LNs and VNs.
>but barely a handful of Shoujo series?
You don't read any shoujo, do you?

That's not how demographics work. They're published in a magazine that the publisher labels as shoujo. That's all that "this series is shoujo" means.
>>
>>133568159

dengeki bunko magazine doesn't have an official demographic, but it's intended for dengeki bunko readers, which is a novel label intended for middle school/high school readers, which is what many shounen magazines' demographic is

>>133568592
GFantasy is technically classified as a shounen magazine, but its official target audience is for both women and men, hence why you see many "bishounen art styles" in the magazine.
Comic Gene, however, is an actual girl's magazine with it's main selling point being "shounen comics for women".

>>133570225
a few members involved in Precure have made it very clear that they are not pleased by the growing appeal of the series in the otaku audience, but it makes them money, so who cares.

really though, there is no reason why you cannot call something "shounen" when it acts like a series from a shounen magazine. it's literal translation is indeed "boy", after all. it's not like Japan cares either, which is why many Jump series like One Punch Man and Jojo are under the "JUMP COMICS" label, rather than the "YOUNG JUMP COMICS" label.
>>
>>133567948
Yuri is disgusting.
>>
>>133570652
Hardly. Dengeki bunko is a bishoujo light novel magazine and it advertises bishoujo games. Hence its demographic is older than shounen. You can judge the demographic of a manga by the advertisements run in the printed magazine. WSJ has video games normally aimed at young boys and consoles, as well as toys. Dengeki has its own original label game adaptions as well as R15 bishoujo games and merchandise.
>>
>>133570652
> there is no reason why you cannot call something "shounen" when it acts like a series from a shounen magazine
If you do that, you attract shitposters ("X fans think their immature fighting series is seinen, look how pathetic they are," etc.) and bad generalizations because the line gets so vague.
>>
>>133567776
manga published in a shoujo magazine has always had a central idea of "forbidden relationships"
this is why, contrary to what you said, incestuous relationships, and other "forbidden" relationships (teacher-student, age-gap, etc.) are extremely common in shoujo manga
>>
>>133568255
>lolicon becomes more popular exponentially the older the age group

Yeah, that's kind of the way it works.

i have a few issues of Shounen Jump and Shounen Sunday, and both of them have advertisements for media of mature content (R15+ movies, Z-rated video games)
i understand why you'd get this idea, but advertising in Japan doesn't work that way, especially when Japan has such a strong emphasis on advertising.
you're not gonna open either Shounen Jump or Dengeki Daioh and see an image of a nude woman from a movie, but you may see a movie ad that indeed has such content. it's not like the US doesn't do this either, although US has much, much stricter regulations on such content.

for example, almost every chapter of Nozo x Kimi in Shounen Sunday advertises another manga by the author, Nozoki Ana, a series that is very, very heavily focused on sex and is published in an online seinen publication.

Dengeki Bunko's official demographic, meaning the target audience they personally aim to sell to on paper, is toward middle schoolers and high schoolers. fans of light novels are very, very likely to be fans of eroge/galge as well, and vice versa.
you also imply that eroge/bishoujo games are intended for people above the age of 18, but that isn't actually true. that is the age suggested by a board that regulates the age of specific media.

however, unlike demographics, rating systems are completely different. they're regulation systems, and as such, only suggest an age on how old someone should be before viewing a specific media. hence, it does not determine what a target audience is. this is why, on paper, anyone can go to a store and buy an M-rated game, or see an R-rated movie. the only thing that could possibly stop you is a store/venue policy, preventing a certain age group from accessing specific content.

as for the manga adaptations part, there is no reason why they can't make an all-ages adaptation of an eroge in any kind of magazine. the source may be erotic, but the adaptation isn't, so it's perfectly acceptable.
>>
>>133572015
Nozo x Kimi runs in Shounen Sunday? It's much more sexual than their other stuff, isn't it?
>>
>>133567776
