The best thing you can say about Sakura is, that she is an interesting character the way Kishi treats her. You don't know if he actually wants to write her well or that he loves to dwell in her misery.
Hinata is just his personal waifu with little significance in the story, except the moments where he imagine her sucking his cock, so he can't ruin her.
Sakura status on the other hand is more ambiguous.
At one point he created Karin to show how Sakuras love should not be about Sasuke and make Sasuke nearly kill her, yet Sakura ended up even worse way. Not so comedic like Karin which was personal more enjoyable, but in a more honest, thus pathetic light.

The point of her was to be in the way. Also, didn't his editor force him to have a girl on the team? I remember reading that the original plan was it to just be naruto, sasuke and kakashi though /a/ as a source is questionable at best.

Every single time she was useful it either turned out to have no effect, or be because of someone else helping her. Trough the entire manga she treated Naruto like shit knowing full well he was an orphan, that he liked her and that he had never been close to anyone. Kishimoto was able to work Sasuke into the bigger narrative but had no clue what to do with Sakura.
