Powerlevels were a mistake.

Not necessarily best, but good chapter.
I hope we soon get all sins together.

It's an average shounen series. Somewhat entertaining to read but hardly anything special.

It's a fun manga and I really enjoy it, but it's not ground breaking no.
As for the powerlevel thing - I wouldn't mind if it was written more cleverly, but as it stands it's kind of pointless in my opinion. It doesn't really add much for me.

You do realize that using hostages isn't fighting per se? Of course the power levels don't apply if it's not characters, you know, fighting each other. Either way, my point stands, because in almost every fight since the powerlevels were introduced, they've been paramount. So there's 2 options now:

1) Fight happens, higher number wins. Boring. Most common.
2) Fight happens, higher number beaten by bullshit ability. Numbers pointless. Very rare.
Regardless of which, there's no advantage whatsoever to introducing the numbers.

And Fraudrin losing was just a huge bit of jobbing anyway. How does that skill even affect a demon?

Galan doesn't have maxed Willpower stat like Dreyfuss does, and Dreyfuss / Fraudrin resisted Gowther's brainwashing but somehow fall in love with some shitty brat because.

At the end of the day, NnT is battle shounen, with all its perks and faults. Suzuki didn't set out to revolutionize the genre, he just makes the Arthurian fantasy tale he always wanted in the demographic tier he likes best, so of course there'll be the standard tropes. The numbers are there for kids and retards to obsess over, because they love that shit. The story functions without them though, so not much of a problem, unless you feel embarrassed about being reminded that you might enjoy something that kids also like. Fuck, it also has nice tits and ass now and again, so he remembers to throw a bone to his older audience as well.

When I began reading this I was hyped as fuck, I read up to chapter 110 I think and, by the time I got all those cool new enemies introduced, looking so mysterious in their armor, I felt so numb that I dropped it instead.

It's the stupid power level bullshit that made many roll their eyes because of it's existence.

We spent an entire few chapters without it, which were the best in a while, but with Mel and Escanor stomping Galan, apparently we had to be "enlightened" to how strong they were in comparison to Galan. Which was unnecessary with the stomping they gave him.

The power levels are easy enough to ignore. Just assume that a magic based society as this has developed a sense of gauging the rough power they're facing. The numbers don't even need to make (much) sense to us, as long as they make sense to the characters and they react accordingly. It's just another source of information those characters use to survive. There you have an in story reason for measured powerlevels. And if the scaling vexes you, just assume the measuring is nonlinear.
