Anyone got cards yet? I hear a few people have already. Let's see them.
>>
Holy shit, I didn't even order a present for my anon.
>>
Maybe not
>>
>>133379157
You sick bastard!
>>
Waiting for BD and amazon to deliver the goodies and almost done with it then!
Are homemade gifts fine? I made a small painting on glass for my anon and some other homemade stuff since I cant buy anything in this budget anymore.
>>
Are printed cards okay? I'm working in the printing office so I can make really nice stuff in there.
>>
>>133380772
Homemade stuff is fine so long as you keep it well wrapped and cushioned so it doesn't break while in transit.

>>133380815
That's just fine, in fact homemade cards are the norm.
>>
>>133380815
Only if you made it digitally yourself. I don't know about others, but an image taken off the internet and then just printed out feels impersonal to me.
>>
>>133381177
Not all of us are blessed with artistic skill /a/non.
>>
>>133381284
I think I made worded it wrong. I'm not saying you should draw the digital art yourself, but at least do something to it.
You know, paste on a santa hat, decorate it with dicks in MS Paint, the works.

>>
>>133381584
I just print out and tape a pic of the anon's wiafu in a santa outfit into an already made Christmas card and write an Well thought out Holiday greeting. I figure that's better than drawing something like looks like something that could be "The Blob's" cousin.

Some anons actually appreciate badly drawn cards more. Knowing that your santa did his best but still came up with something that looks like a 5 year old's masterpiece... cards like that has a certain charm to it.

>>
Hello there everyone. It's my first secret santa, so I've got one important question.
How does the "exchange" work?
Do I just send him presents without him knowing anything (because it's supposed to be a surprise) or should I mail him beforehand?
Also, when is the best time to send gifts? Just before the christmas?
>>
>>133382329
IF you have already signed up and aren't some troll looking for hate...

1. If you've signed up then santaloli (the person in charge) or one of his minions will have sent you the address and wishlist of the person you are assigned to. You pick something from their wishlist (or multiple things if you're feeling generous) and either:
a. send them directly to them
b. send them to your self to wrap and then send to them.
People who are running low on funds will usually do a. While people who can afford to splurge do b.
You are NOT paired with the same person who you are sending presents to. Each person sends presents to a different person other than their /ss/.

2. It's supposed to be a surprise what you are sending them. If for some reason you HAVE to contact your /ss/ then send an e-mail to santaloli and he'll try to get in touch with them.

3. Send them as soon as you can. The closer you are to Christmas the more hectic and backed-up snail-mail will be and the more likely they won't get them until after Christmas.
>>
>>133382612
Thanks a lot, it really cleared some things for me. Especially:
>You are NOT paired with the same person who you are sending presents to. Each person sends presents to a different person other than their /ss/.
>>
So are we not waiting for SantaLoli or SpoonSanta to make threads anymore?
>>
If you haven't ordered your /ss/ a gift yet then there's still time to use the J-List exclusive discount code made for this /ss/. It's still good for another 8 days. If you want it just send me an e-mail.
>>
>>133383086
I didn't know there was one!

Just sent you an email on the j-list code.

Thanks.

>>
>>133384965
It's always like that. AmiAmi is literally "everything is limited edition".

Amiami only stocks new merchandise and a small selection of old/preowned.
If you want something older, you either go with Mandarake or pay an absurd markup from a domestic seller.

Tell me about it. I found the one thing my /ss/ really wanted that's been out of stock everywhere for nearly 2 years. I had to get it second-hand at 3 times it's original price. It took every penny I had just to buy it and ship it to him.

It's not too late for late cards!

Late card signups have been opened, because nothing is quite like getting a card from ano- Santa for Christmas. Please fill out the form and send it off to me at [email protected], signups end on the 30th, If I'm good assignments should be out by the 3rd.

Name:
Full Address:
Amount of cards:
International? (yes/no)
Information about yourself, this part is given to the people who are assigned to you. Feel free to include suggestions, lists, websites, or whatever:

Anything else you need me to know (sent only to me, also end of form):

This is primarily for cards, however gifts can make a happy holiday so I'm proposing a gift exchange as well. If you are interested make sure you tell me in the last part of the form. THE LATE GIFT EXCHANGE IS UNDER CONSIDERATION. I will confirm with everyone depending on reception, but I was thinking no more than $20 shipping not included. Most procurement would be locally, due to time constraints. The cut offs for this is also under consideration. If you aren't in the late card exchange and still interested in a late gift exchange, let me know.

Lastly, I'm not associated with the on time exchanges. So make sure your questions go to the right people.

T&T, R, PK, TS and JL from the UK, I'm making your cards, but some of them are a little... over-complicated.
Also, R, your card may be a little lewd, though I have an idea to make it a little less so much if I have time. I'll probably have a warning on the box anyway.

As for RM, the gift's been ordered. I kinda dread the reshipping cost.

>>
>>133391346
There doesn't need to be a discount from AmiAmi because the prices are reasonable in the first place.

If you can do it, sure, that's great. But getting a discount from J-List, where the prices are ridiculously marked up and it doesn't provide enough of an incentive to shop there (unless the shopper is uninformed) is not beneficial to anyone. It does the opposite, because now participants are spending excessive amounts on items that are worth much less and subsequently, screwing up /ss/ price brackets altogether.

>>133391346
You do realize that JList offered the discount code not out of the goodness of their hearts but pure greed? This is their incentive to persuade ignorant or impulsive people to shop with them, when the truth is that anyone researching the prices for a few minutes can see how massive JList's markups are.
If they really mean well, they should be offering to MATCH AmiAmi's prices.

At the rate you spam that offer, I'm starting to believe that JList asked you to advertise for them.

It wouldn't be a problem except you're ignoring the fact that people buying overpriced shit from j-list for their /ss/ totally screws up their bracket because of the markup.

By posting this you're encouraging anons that don't know any better to buy from goylist because of the supposed discount they're getting.

Reposting just in case:

RN from Hurteau, Montreal your gifts are all purchased and packed, ready to be shipped. You mentioned your love of music and "eye candy" anime/manga, so I really hope you'll enjoy the gifts I picked out for you. They all ooze style. Though I apologize for one of the items in your package (you'll know it when you see it). It was the only copy left in my local shop, so I hope it doesn't bother you if its not in 100% mint condition.

And to DH-L from Missisauga your package is all packed and ready to ship as well. You gave me lots to work with, so I hope you enjoy all the goodies I got for you.
Hopefully the card doesn't creep you out. I tried my best to make something unique, but as I'm sure you'll see my skill set is limited.

Merry Christmas anons, looking forward to seeing everyone elses gifts as well!

Yeah, but what do you think is gonna happen? Worst case scenario, your giftee knocks on your door for a surprise visit and makes sweet love to you the whole day with the dragon dildo you bought him.
>>
Guys, how did you decide on the gifts so quickly? Sure, it's my first year but so far I've just been brainstorming possible ideas and running the numbers on shipping, in addition to having to research some wishlist items I'm not familar with.

Currently I'm more afraid of getting the wrong gift than timing but am I backing myself up too much? yuropoor here, just sending within yurop , does anyone know about parcel shipping times here?
I'm calculating 3 weeks from Japan to me as safety, I guess a week or so from me to anon. So I will try to order by next weekend. Opinions?

Question for those participating in the original secret santa this year:

I am participating for the first time and my santa wanted a figure. My question is, do I include shipping price (from Japan to me, not from me to my Santa) for the price bracket or just the price of the figure itself?

I am at the lower brackets so this makes quite a difference because shipping alone is easily 20 Euro if not more.
>>
>>133413357
You have to eat the shipping costs for the holiday spirit.
So you just include the price of the figure in the bracket.
>>
>>133413357
The bracket is not including shipping. So things turned out to be a little more than I expected.
>>
>>133413357
you could have just thought about that for 5 seconds and come to the conclusion that shipping is clearly not included in the price. Otherwise you would get an empty envelop in the lowest brackets.

>>133406319

It wasn't white chocolate was it? I sent the tiniest bars imaginable last year because I got screwed over at Valentines by the post office not correctly labelling things that were padded.

I haven't seen anything worth sending this time so I'll have a hand at paperchildren instead.
>>
>>133427419
You're right, it's worthless in the States. I totally forgot to bring it with me to Japan. Otherwise I would've walked into a hobby store there and pawned it off for $30.
>>
I realized I haven't had a chance to namedrop yet, so I apologize.

KG of NC, I have your gift in hand, need to package it and send it out. Probably tomorrow or Friday.

BC of MA, working on your card.

>$60 Weiss Schwarz card

They can go for that much? Is it just an ultra rare card? I ended up with quite a number of Weiss Schwarz cards despite not playing the TCG.
>>
>>133426953
I've done that a couple times
>chocolate bars second year
>hot cocoa and nendo petits third year
>homemade bath bombs/fizzies last year (kind of wondering if most of those broke in the mail though)

>>

That would explain it. I have only one holographic card which isn't signed and it's Nonon from Kill la Kill.
>>
>>133427759
Not sure if you're the same bath fizzies anon I had, but mine arrived in one piece. The padded manila envelope helped.
>>
Sucks I had to miss this year as well.
>>
>>133428040
It probably was me, but besides one cardanon in MA (might be you) nobody posted any of the cards I mailed out last year. I did send some to a couple anons for New Years though, and that was pretty fun.
>>
>>133427931
To be honest, "signed" Weiss Schwarz cards are pretty cheap on eBay. I can get a signed Yui Hirasawa card for about $20.

>>
>>133428719
Asking for a specific figure would be no fun I think
You know exactly what to get them, they know exactly what they want. Why not avoid the hassle of a gift altogether and just sign up for a card and buy the figure yourself?

Listing shows lets your santa get to know you, your tastes, and is less "gimme gimme this" and more "here's what I enjoy, merry christmas!"
>>
>>133428917
>i can't bake
>* I refuse to google recipes that tell me how to bake
Seriously, cooking and baking is not hard. All you have to do is follow instructions. There's tons of idiot proof "throw this shit in a bowl, dump it in a pan and slap it in the oven til it's done" recipes.
>>
>>133428917
Don't feel bad about it. Having seen Jebus' collage videos, plenty of people just send cards.
>>
>>133428917
I can't craft, but here I am at 1:23am with a stanley knife and felt on my desk.
>>
>>133428917
Do you live in the US and want to add stuff? If you go to a grocery store they usually have some single-serve hot cocoa packets. Target also has a lot of small stocking stuffer food gifts, like cocoa sticks and chocolate.

I bought some stickers for this year.
>>
>>133428950
I put down a few characters I like but I know specifically that none have figures except for one of them, who has a single good figure out this year and definitely in-stock almost everywhere currently. I sincerely hope my santa gets me that one. It's within the price bracket as long as he's not buying it from JList. Why not just buy it myself? I'm a terrible shopper. I research up a lot of stores and end up playing some sort of stupid waiting game of seeing whether or not it'd fall further in price before I commit. It's stressful (which I bring onto myself because I am AHO) and a lot of times, the item sells out before I make up my mind.
>>
>>133428917
I think those kind of card anons are the outliers. Most people just send cards. If you really want to make card anons happy, one of the easiest way would be to sneak in some money.
>>
>>133428644
That would be appealing, in a unique kind of way. Paint it all black.

>>133428823

>>
>>133429384
How is that being a Grinch? I just said I hope he gets something.

I'm not a fan of people who do this sort of roundabout garbage. It's the worst when someone gives you a list but expects something specific and are hoping you'll do the gymnastics to arrive at it.
>>
>>133429474
It's not gymnastics; I listed the character/series I like as the first thing and I know it'll be easy to find. Same tactic has worked in past years in getting things I want (sometimes doubles from two different santas arriving at the same conclusion). It literally is "oh here's an in-stock, new figure of character X and it's the only one in the price bracket and the only decent item out this year".

Strangely getting the manga is very, very unlikely. There is a manga adaptation but it's nothing to write home about, and the shipping cost of books would kill it.
>>
>>133428950
If you're asking for 1 specific item, then yes it would be boring and without surprise.

But there's no harm in listing several specific items in addition to series/characters you like. It's not like you will get them all so you will still be surprised.

Would it be easier if people sent seperate emails for multiple gifts?
I was considering doing it next year, but I don't want to trouble you.
>>
>>133441690
You should have removed that in the first place because of potential grinches grinching multiple people.
>>
>>133441745
It's more of the fact that an individual enter has a bunch of information, I.e. Id, person sending to, person receiving from, number of cards, international vs non-international, name, address, price bracket.
If I assign each gift a unique id, I can run make the first three fields unique, and therefore prevent myself from accidentally double assigning someone. However if I can't do that with the address or name if there are double gifts.
The second issue comes from the fact that a second gift doesn't have all that info (no card assignments, etc.) and as such has a much greater chance of human error. I had to go in and fix the chain halfway through assignments because stupid stuff I did involving multiple gifters twice this year.
Thirdly, there's >>133441761. Particularly because it becomes hard to track down who the grinch is when someone only receives 2/3 of their gifts, and one of the people didn't put a return address.
Finally, there's the possibility of two people being assigned to the same person and sending the same thing, which kind of lessens the gift overall.
