I'm a long time Gundam fan. As in I've watched every single entry into the franchise going back to 1979. My favourite are 0079, 0080: War in the Pocket, and Turn A.

I am loving Gundam IBO so far. It has great potential to be counted among the above for my favourite Gundam series of all time. Still early days, but if it keeps it up I think we're looking at a solid 9/10 show.

Mika has shown concern for Kudelia and appreciation for Atra's gift. Him talking back to Kudelia in ep.1 and talking about Akihiro shows that he's grounded about their situation. He's also capable of smiling and having quirks like eating wherever.

Nope, that only applies from MSG (0079) to Turn A. Everything after that (ie SEED, 00, AGE) that isn't said to be Universal Century is separate.

I'd just recommend starting with 0079, it's better than you might think even if you're biased against old anime.
