There are differences, we can all see that much for sure, but its definitely more than that for sure that is the same. Its already confirmed that Extra is just another alternate time-line that diverged in the 1970's.

You can say that Mooncell doesn't exist much elsewhere, but humanity didn't discover it until 1990, so its existence did not alter anything until that point.

Everything that happened before the 70's lines up entirely, and some things that happened after still line up coincidentally.
