By first season, do you mean the first 9 episodes that are Part 1? Part 2 was pretty good with Joseph, and Part 3 was great as well, but it felt more like an "enemy of the week" episode. I just finished marathoning the anime this week and enjoyed it a lot. Give it a chance.

He was my favorite Jojo, to be honest, he's voiced by Sugita who also voices Gintoki in Gintama and doesn't give a shit. The fights are also more interesting and you like there's more at stake. Enjoy, anon!

Stardust Crsuaders (part 3) is the second season, while Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency make up the first. Just thought I'd let you know, because even little mistakes like that are usually enough to make the anons here spaz out
Battle Tendency is better, but is still similar to part 1 in a lot of ways, using the ripple for combat, vampires (although more badass), nazis and some melodrama as well, but the MC is way more fun in in this one, I still recommend it (but you should read the manga first)
Part 3 changes things conceptually and is more lika a monster of the week show

Part 1 is vastly different from the rest of the series. Part 2 sounds like i'll be a bit up your alley and it's only gonna get better from there. I felt the same as you the first time I finished part 1. I heard so much about how great JoJo was and part 1 really isnt that great. But trust me it gets a lot better, I'm currently on part 7

the anime should not be anyone's first experience of JJBA.

they should read the manga first then watch the anime with nostalgia and to see how they translate certain scenes to motion.

Because the anime by itself is not as good as the manga.

Honestly, I really enjoyed Part 1, but that's just because I'm a sucker for Dio. (Especially young Dio.) Though, by popular opinion, Part 4 and Part 7 are typically viewed as the "best." You should come back when you finish Part 2 and tell us what you think!

Part 1 is very average, part 2 is entertaining as fuck with a great MC, and part 3 is so boring you'll find it hard not to drop the rest of the series.
