That's irrelevant. Genos instantly got K.O.'d by his DEPOWERED form. He also got instantly K.O.'d by Mosquito Girl's powered up form.

There's no reason to think that Sweet Mask would have been incapable of fighting Asura Rhino's depowered form, or assuming that Asura Rhino was even all that powerful even powered up compared to the other Dragon level threats in the Monster Association who showed similar abilities (super strength, mostly, but also super speed). He was Dragon class, for sure, but that's about it. He could very well be only at Fuhrer Ugly's level. The guy had super speed and super strength too, after all. In any case, he's nothing worth touting as being 'one of the strongest antagonists introduced'.

The only thing Asura Rhino had going for him was his genius level intellect. Otherwise, he's just a re-skinned Fuhrer Ugly. The House of Evolution is essentially an inferior Monster Association. They only had 1 Dragon and 2 Demon level monsters, after all.

Genos being 'constantly upgraded' doesn't really mean anything when comparing all these characters' strengths with each other as we're talking about Genos before he got all his upgrades. Genos has certainly gotten stronger, but Sweet Mask is already at the strength level he showed during the Monster Association arc.

Among the Monster Association's cadre of Dragon level monsters, Asura Rhino would be one of the weaker ones from what he's shown so far. All brute strength, and nothing to show us if he was even all that especially powerful. Fuhrer Ugly had super speed, but Golden Sperm clearly exceeded him by far.

I like the way ONe handled Saitama, who is very hard to write for.

Saitama is not a saint, so he is relate-able. But he isn't a bastard either and try to do the right thing whenever he can. He isn't as much of a paragon of virtue like licence-less Rider, but he keeps himself in check.

It helps that he has a lot of patience for anything not supermarket sales related. Saitama in particular never judge people by appearances, and will give ANYBODY a second chance.

Saitama is good, but not TOO good. He lets things slide, don't take offence for anything unrelated to being bald, and stay humble amongst weaker beings. He has just enough flaws for him to still be a "normal guy".

As the Garou arc pointed out, the monster community agreed that murdering humans is a job requirement for them. They even told Garou to "go kill 100 people, then we would let you join us".

So in many ways, at this point there is agreement from both sides that mass killings is a line that one draws to leave humanity behind. Not very common in fiction that even the monsters know their role in society.

I have never been more disappointed in bullshit animation that captures "muh action". I feel like I am watching a Michael Bay film instead of engaging in a worthwhile mental pursuit. One punch man has some redeeming qualities, namely my favorite character (OPM) seems like a satire, which in intellectual but then they attempt to have "muh action scenes" that are not plausible and take up too much time with animation at the expense of dialogue.

My pet theory is that he's actually a monster that idolizes heroes and the heroic ideal. He shapeshifts (hence his limited regenerative abilities) and keeps a human form as a "sweet mask" so he can live as a hero and personally test any hero that would aspire to the top. He needs to maintain his composure or else he'd revert to his true form, which inevitably means holding back in fights.

It is perhaps a surprise to find that Silver Fang, who started out looking like just an old man, may in fact be defensively tougher than Genos. It is a path Genos choose to walk, but he might have realised by now that being a cyborg meant losing certain perks. Being organically human in OPM isn't that bad.

Another example; recently we saw Metal Bat being smashed through several walls by Elder Centipede. He was entirely unperturbed. Metal Bat finds it difficult to harm the monster, but he CAN harm it. Something similar happens with PriPri prisoner. In that PriPri has decent attack power but could not outlast the Seaking in endurance.

Nearly all Dragon Class monsters turn their battles into marathons, not sprints. So unless the hero is Saitama, the only way to beat them is to be able to take their best shot and survive.

Depending on the specific S class hero, they're unable to take out a Demon-Dragon level threat in just one hit (Metal Bat can beat Demon level monsters in one hit, yeah, but he has to rouse himself up first into getting serious).

I think, at a certain point, either a hero and monster can take each other out in one decisive attack (meaning whoever hits first wins), or they're unable to do so forcing them into an endurance contest like you said. Those seem to be the 2 extremes of how fights between high level opponents go.

Murata saw it and really liked it, so he got together with him they began working on the manga i.e. the redraw. ONE does the story, Murata the art.

The original webcomic is still ongoing and is ahead of the manga. Manga and anime have certain arcs which are being added.
