Girls Und Panzer thread!
There is a movie incoming and I'm all hyped up and why don't we have real life Senshadou yet?
>why don't we have real life Senshadou yet?
Because they're whimps.
I mean, Anon proved time ago that simple back-of-envelope math shows that real world tech (onboard computers, on-shell transmitters, frangible ammo, spall liners) would allow us to have it. Yet for some weird reason, when you take a WW2-vintage tank to the street, that's what happens...
Surely all it would take would be one or two ultra billionaires to shove the money in, all the requisite safety devices aside it can't be that hard to churn out a few replica WWII era tanks if they made however many thousands back in the 40s
>when you take a (...) tank to the street, that's what happens
>For some that think SUV are disproportionate, it seems that some people never have enough. Michael John Creagh is a retired British army colonel living in Albox (Almería).
The man bought at auction a FV103 Spartan tank for 25,000 euros (hey, the price of a diesel SUV), but the Civil Guard stopped him for driving with him in the street without the right papers.
He tried to pass the ITV ("technical inspection of vehicles") as historic vehicle, but has failed because of having misplaced the nameplate and not having the weight data. Michael says that "Spanish society does not understand me," and that his tank is like a Hummer.
He actually tried to go grocery shopping with the thing - small wonder the trafic cops got mildly pissed off at him
(link in Spanish)
Well, it wouldn't necessarily need WW2 era tanks, in my opinion if they can build a specific tank for a safe and friendly tank game, I'm fine with that too.
Just has to incorporate that crew and team dynamic, that's what I liked about Senshadou.
Spaniard here, this SNAFU was the national laughingstock some years ago
He has legal ownership of the tank as an historical vehicle (which allows him to take it to motor shows or use it as showpiece), but thought that also allowed him to take it to the roads. Which it doesn't (PRECISELY because of being an historical vehicle, mind you - different tax bracket as streety-legal vehicles). Also, any tracked vehicle (ANY whatsoever) has to fix road tracks to go on roads
I know that because of reasons- which that particular tank didn't have - the reason the cops stopped it. Of course they took it to deposit when they saw they had incorrect papers I can imagine the faces of the towaway truck guys.
And when he tried to change the registration to street-legal heavy vehicle (like a truck), he forgot that ALL heavy vehicles must provide their weight for cargo and bridge load purposes - of course he didn't pass it back in 2007. Basically, his fault all three times. Thus the laughingstock part.
IIRC, he tried again a year later, this time with all the paperwork, but that time it didn't made the papers because he didn't goof it that time.
Would they have specific sensors on the tank to react to fake non explosive tank shells or what?
I really loved the determined music.
Makes me feel all motivated.
Still feels like quite a unique name for a girl.
>tfw you don't want to watch the last episode because then it's over
>Get to rewatch the series in prep for the movie
The best of feelings
I just rewatched it too and I already feel like rewatching it again.
Maybe I'll just rewatch the battles, in chronological order including the anzio battle.
What chapter is Ribbon Warrior up to? The archives are gone and /ak/ wiki only has up to 8.
>/ak/ is the one doing them
>asks if there's any further than what /ak/ did
I actually tried, but can't find any decent (and free) stream site that was convnient enough (the ones Ifound, I'd have to downsample it to 360p for it to work with my upload speed).
I'm open to sugestions, of course.
I could do it. I have a dedicated web server that I can stream it through.
Though we should decide on a date when to do it.
Nevermind, I found it.
Apparently it's called Shidenkai no Maki. Now I just hope someone's translating it.
>no Erwin figure
No, I need a good 1/6th figure.
No Chibi bullshit.
I also need a model of the StuG complete with crazy paint and flags
VENI VIDI VICI
>you will never sacrifice your life for that smile
I'll probobly be doing it here:
But we need a time and date of when to do it. Especially if we're doing it all in one go (or maybe an episode a day?)
>you will never be her personal bodyguard and be by her side 24/7
>you will never repair/maintain tanks with her, yukari, and the automotives club
>you will never argue about the war over drinks with her
>you will never give her your coat as you both stumble back to your apartment drunk off of strong German beers
it hurts to live.
>St. Gloriana gets Pravda as a teammate
>Oarai gets fucking Chihatan
how is this fair
We need more German in our GuP.
There are also the first 20 chapters avaiable.
Sorry, I'm a Panzer newbie. I've only watched the series and some of the OVAs so I'm not too well caught up with everything...
I looked it up and saw that even anchoshit has a figure, god damn it.
even the episodes had a larger delay. You'll have to wait for the movie to leak (I give it 24 to 48 hours), then, IF Commie does the subs, another 24 to 48 hours, IF they do them right away (the OVA took about a month). If we have to do teh subs ourselves... who knows?
Just look at YTC6
What I can tell you is, as soon as I got a script, we'll have /ak/ subs release Right Away (Tm)
>Does the film actually come out on the 21st or will there be a delay for a Nyaa download?
Why do so many seem to think the BD releases on the 21st? Have you never dealt with a big anime movie release? We'll be lucky to get a camrip within the first month.
Around 3 of them in fact. To the victor belong the spoils.
gg no re
Yes I know, I've gone through big movie releases before. I just believed anon wanted it streamed on the 21st because the BD released then or something, not that it was the theatre release date.
But sure, we can stream the episodes on the 22nd and have a very good panzer day for all
With as much hype as the movie is generating, I wouldn't be surprised if it was subbed by the next week. Would there be a chance of HorribleSubs doing them? I know, >HorribleSubs, but I'll take whatever I can for GuP.
>working with the handegg team
>biggest game of the season versus UGA on the 21st
>it's an away game
>would miss the movie if it was streamed then
>mfw thinking about missing the stream
>tfw took 4 years of German in high school so I can pronounce all the awesome german words
I also have a professor who loves phonetics and loves it when I speak german
Even a Horriblesubs script could be tweaked into something /ak/-worthy
Well, seems the Chinese got it better, searching for the original version now to see if the translator or author fucked it up
That kind of mentality costed the Britongs quite a humilliating beating at one point in the war
not to mention having to endure the "we told you" comments of the Australians who had fought those particular pastas a day before. We strongly advice you to treat them in a case-by-case basis and not to understimate the power of anchovies.
Which part of "one" in "one point in th ewar" did you not understand, Anon? Posting other of the many times the pastas were soundly defeated (basically, every single time the Allies attacked them with any seriousness) won't change the fact that the ONE time the silly Britongs charged them in full "disregard plan and preparations, they're only Italians" they got their asses handed to them - much to the amusement of the Auzzies who had warned them the day before and of the Yanks who got the job done the day after.
In short: go saying "Bah, they're only [insert anything here, including Italy], they can't possibly win anything", and your'e set for a humilliating defeat.
And nope, they being generally shit at that "win" thing doesn't make it less humilliating - it makes it WORSE, mind you. You'll be remembered as "the idiot who managed to lose to Italy".
Okay, you're right, but just one more.
Two if we count pic related
TL;DR: Don't put cavalry in a position where the only thing left to do is to charge
Comparing Napoleonic France and WW2 France is like comparing Roman Empire Italy and WW2 Italy
The USSR beat Germany. There's no two ways around this. American raw mwterials were of great help, of course, and the British/American bombing campaigns didn't hurt either. But the Soviets were the ones who pushed the Wehrmact back to Germany and took Berlin. The Americans took Paris, yes, but the ease of which was because the Germans were much more occupied with the East where Germans had been fighting and dying for years.
It *really* was the Spaniards, technically; the first unit to enter Paris, and who acepted the German capitulation, was the 9th Company of LeClerc Division, made of Spanish Republicans fighting under Free French flag. That caused considerable political trouble for General LeClerc for the "French" units that liberated Paris not being, you know, French.
They ALSO captured Hitler's house at the Eagle's Nest right in the middle of the American / Russian race for Moscu, causing even more political trouble for poor LeClerc (imagine: a unit made out of "reds", taking the place before the Americans), making him retreat silently before the incoming American 101th could find about it, letting them take the official honor to save his career.
inb4 "Spain Stronk", the above war tales are for amusement value and most certainly NOT representative of Spanish overall role in teh war
I know, I know.
(I'm spaniard and I love to read what "we" did in the war (Division Azul and La Novena).
I was surprised at first. We were considered very tough, by americans and germans.
>Senshadou becomes real
>Only high school students can participate
>You're too old now and have to be a spectator forever
I meant T20, sorry. The prototype medium tank that eventually turned into the M26. Kinda a lighter Pershing but still with the 90mm M3 gun.
GuP seems to be hot for rare panzers, so I think it would have fitted better for the American school.
Nein, Untermensch, du getan vermasselt.
MY PENIS CAN ONLY GET SO ERECT
WAIFU AGE WHEN GODDAMN IT
Read the thread. Remember how it was with the series?
I know I want to but 98% of the tanks are model kits. What do these kits even want me to paint? The hull color and such?
Pretty much everything. Most armor plamo comes in 1 solid color (Usually an easy to paint color like light grey or tan, although some I've worked with come in green and one horrible plane kit I did was all black). You have to paint pretty much all of it and apply the decals.
That makes me feel tired. I envy you pro model kit builders.
Model kits make you build and paint the entire thing, senpai.
You get better at it with time.
It's a hobby man, we wouldn't do it if we didn't enjoy it.
Thin your paints and build up in thin layers if you are handbrushing and even a little kid can paint. And there is always masking and spraycans.
A decent model takes a week to a month depending on the size of the model, your pace, and how much time you can devote to it. At least in my experience.
But they're relaxing as fuck to work on after work.
I mostly work on gundam models but tanks are a nice change of pace every once in a while.
When painting details like dirt/rust, does one use tons of reference images or play it by ear?
Little of both. Looks at references, but don't just copy and try to think for yourself where things would accumulate and build up.
also don't use real dirt, I made that mistake on an early model and deeply regretted it.
Well, there's only so many places dirt can appear, and rust depends on the condition you're looking for.
I can't think of a single modeler who doesn't use references when building something they're trying to model as historically accurate.
Forgive my picture quality, half my shots always end up blury as fuck.
Still commendable that you went that far.
Looks good. Was this airbrushed?
That one isn't mine actually, I don't much do 'old wreckage' type of dioramas.
The guy who made it though said aside from airbushing and standard pastels, he heavily drybrushed it.
>friend recently went to Glorious Nippon
>gave him ~$80
>one of the things he got me was a Maus model kit
>unsure how to begin
>it's still in the box, in the bags
Spraying it unthinned causes it to spit everywhere and spiderweb.
We should be on the subject of posting pictures of Erwin though...
>hey anon, where's that model kit I bought you?
>I-It's still in the box.
>his face when
you cant beat these master race genetics
No im just assuming. She is wearing a Nazi field marshal hat, so I figured she might be German but idk
Ever since I watched the show I've wanted a hat like Erwin's but I cant find a replica
I always thought since Oorai isnt associated with a specific nation they had a wide variety of nationalities. Would you say shes Japanese? I guess you could get specific and say theyre all Japanese since they speak it but idk many Japanese girls with blonde hair
whatever its just an anime.
i still want the hat though
Yeah, but I don't want to build a gray Maus.
I want some kind of camouflage. Plus I've been too busy with school and work to go find the proper supplies, but after reading this thread I'm kind of motivated now.
>mfw subhuman untermenschen say that Erwin isn't the best
also thanks for the new wallpaper
She's part of her little history fangirl club, but instead of having a boner for an old Roman or Jap, she's just a new age(?) Jap girl with a soulboner for Rommel.
I'm surprised none of the edgy fanfictions or doujins have forced her to eat cyanide lest she face a firing squad and disgrace to fulfill historical accuracy
you're welcome friend
>getting butthurt over a hat
no one gets mad that the creators of the show had her wear it, but as soon as i say i want one...
real Germans wouldn't let their country be invaded by ragheads
Yes, I know. And he agreed to take control of the military once Hitler was killed. But I'm going off of how I believe the German government would handle the situation. Granted, I'm not German, so this doesn't really have a point.
Couple years ago, in San Diego, California, some dude stole a tank and rampaged in the streets.
I'm pretty sure it's the only reason we will never get senshadou irl.
Dude, I am a complete wehraboo, and I think that's preposterous. Hitler may have had his sights on Germany rising from the ashes of the Great War and becoming a strong people again, but he went after it by killing millions. Not exactly philanthropic.
While you do have a point about Germans today being borderline paranoid about Nazis and WW2 history, the fact that Erwin is a war nerd should tell you all you need to know about her opinion on the matter.
It seems I misunderstood you
But I still would say shes not japanese. Im mean characters in most anime dont look asian to me all that much, plus shes blonde, which isnt really a common hair color for asians
Honestly I've been considering a business of a sort of tank paint ball where people pay to come on my land and rent my demilled Soviet tanks that fire paint canisters.
That or just a demolition derby/hp based game involving potato gun technicals that people face off against each other in.
Any thoughts on irl paint senshado?
In the end, Japan should not have attacked the US and Germany should not have attacked Russia
Still, I think that stability is better than having a government toppled no matter how bad the government is. Take Syria for example. Assad is a shitty fucking leader, but Syria would be so much better with a shitty leader than stuck in an endless war. If the Axis had the strength to not let themselves get decimated and WW2 ended with a stalemate, it would be better.
Yes, but not the place to debate it.
Pretty sure after trying to pancake several bystanders and destroying many properties, plus stealing a tank from the National Armory makes it a possibility he was armed and a justified shooting.
When you're driving a tank, not only do you have access to an advanced weapon (that you can't fire without a gunner, but still) but that also means you had to steal it from the military. They're not going to ask questions.
Im more knowledgeable about ancient warfare than modern unfortunately so I didnt know about that
And no I disagree. My relatives that came to the US from Germany fought against the Germans, and while I do have strong nationalist pride for my current country and heritage I just think it was better the allies won. I like nationalist ideals and share similar views with WW2 Germans and how races should stay separate but I dont really go as far as to hate anyone for their skin. Honestly capitalism is the best economic system, and freedom of speech is very important to me, both of which are 2 things Hitler did not approve of
When I think of Wehraboo I think of the annoying faggots who think that Tigers were invincible death machines and are always on about "muh German engineering" and "muh what ifs"
You can think the Wehrmacht is an interesting fighting force without being a full blown Wehraboo
No I mean either way was justified, I was just wondering if he was ready to fight as soon the hatch got opened (how did they open a metal trap locked from the inside quick enough?).
Also wasn't there another case with a stolen tank in the US as well?
yes because east Europe is such a fantastic place right now. If Germany didn't get destroyed, east Europe could be a nice place to live. Germany was at the forefront of technology after all.
I don't expect anyone to agree with me. Everyone here's been taught about how evil the axis was ever since they were children, while simultaneously being told how heroic the allies were.
If the Axis decimated the Allies, we'd be hearing about how evil England is for oppressing African natives, and how terrible the USA is for enslaving people and forcing Indians onto reservation.
The "Apologize to the Finns" remark is a reference to the Winter War, in which Finland defended itself from the Soviets. Fun Fact: the first U.S. serviceman killed in WW2 was killed in the Winter War at the hands of the Russians.
>England is for oppressing African natives
Churchill also caused the death of millions of indians and muslims.
>Germany was at the forefront of technology after all.
Yes. Even thought their tanks were inferior to Soviet ones at the start of the war.
> we'd be hearing about how evil England is for oppressing African natives, and how terrible the USA is for enslaving people and forcing Indians onto reservation.
Oh, you mean like we already are? My American education was absolutely filled with us being told all the awful shit we did to natives, immigrants, minorities, and slaves.
>If the Axis decimated the Allies, we'd be hearing about [...] how terrible the USA is for enslaving people
We did away with that shit in the mid 1860s, bruh.
The Soviets had tank production down. Not only did they have a very good, successful design they produced in large numbers, they also upgraded to deal with threats, with the addition of an 85 mm gun in 1944 (by comparison, the Tiger's gun was 88 mm). Granted, they needed to because they faced the vast majority of German land forces.
Communists were the true monsters, Patton knew.
Belarus lost a quarter of its country's population in WWII, most of them being civilians.
A FUCKING QUARTER OF ITS POPULATION.
Yes, you hear the same old figures that're mentioned year after year, but it never sinks in, does it.
Think about how many people the Nazis killed in the East, and if you learn to consider it as more than just a statistic, it's fucking horrifying to think about.
I agree with you on Syria, the west tries so hard to get him out of there yet there's nothing to replace him.
Are they just going to let that country go to waste like Libya and Iraq?
The west shouldn't be the judge of who gets to lead a country in the middle east.
>in 1944 the Sherman was perfectly sufficient
Murken tankers' reactions to newer German armor (and every other German armor by association) casts considerable doubt on that assertion.
Why would the US government waste money changing the Sherman's design? US factories were pumping them out by the boatful, and American forces were achieving success against Germany. The US' manpower pool was massive and their land untouched, and the production from the war boosting their economy. It was a win win for them.
Czechs were integrated against their will, being forced into the 'deal' by a previously ousted piece of shit. If you really think a majority wanted to be in the Reich, you're delusional. Even those with some connections to Germany were more fearful of losing land to Hungary than being happy to be aligned with Germany.
Fuck, read the military records, they had some of the smallest combat units in the Eastern front and were known for their non-existent morale
because they didn't want to be there.
Also, Bulgarians were caved in bitches who understandably couldn't do much other than join the Axis or lose everything they had, so they don't count.
Again, where are all these Slavs rallying for the Nazis?
There is one on vita.
Tell that to the German soldier who had to fight Shermans with no tank support of his own. A couple dozen Tigers being somewhere else on the 400km front line matters little to him.
But to the crews in the Shermans at the same location as the Tigers on that 400km front line it matters a great deal.
Doesn't mean Panthers and Tigers won't one-shot you at well beyond your own effective range.
All this boils down to
>she will never be real
And it hurts a great deal.
But I bet she wouldn't be a cute fluffy girl if she even exists at all.
This might be the place to ask. I bought pic related and I'm having trouble building it. I'm used to building 40k tanks but this is quite different.
There are a whole lot of parts, but more importantly, the instructions are in Japanese, leavimg me unsure of what to glue and what snaps together and generally everything, I suppose.
I'd appreciate any advise people have, and a translated instructions manual would be beyond amazing.
Sort of. They rely a lot on a visual key for symbols like glue, caution, twist, attach, etc. I can't differentiate them. Even then, there's the occasional big warning symbol with bold text beside a certain step that I really feel I should read.
I'll do you one better and provide you with a mediocre scan.
I remember how hyped I was when I saw this for the first time.
The show certainly lived up to that hype.
The symbol in step 1 is telling you to fill the hole
The point symbol in step 3 is telling you to drill a new hole (there should be a guide marker on the reverse of the piece, just drill the hole all the way through)
The knife symbol in step 3 means remove a part of the piece
The double arrows in step 8 means there are 2 options - here it's whether the antenna is up or not.
You'll need to glue almost everything, except the connections between B9, B4 and B10 (step 5) (careful with excess cement) and, obviously, attaching the turret to the body (step 10).
I can't help you with the translations, but most of the ! symbols are saying "look at this carefully, make sure your parts are in the right order", I think.
Good luck, and enjoy!
I saw Katyusha vid (before that I saw some info and pictures/gifs about that but not to be interested). And it made me want to see it. It was better than I expected, since I started it for Pravda girls but loved all way to their appearance.
>inaugural senshadou match is covered solely by a Japanese local access station
>half of /k/ gathered around a single shitty stream with a couple of anons translating
>one team lines up a 35(t)
>the other team has a Tiger I
>shitposting overwhelms /k/
>35(t) lands a shell on the front of the Tiger
>nothing interesting happens
>Tiger blows one of the Czech tank's tracks clean off
>all non-senshadou-shitposting threads gone
>35(t) slowly spinning in a circle
>Tiger I advances at full speed
>suddenly starts careening wildly
>shouts of 'ecchi!' are heard
>Tiger's driver is so distracted by the nude drawings in the manual that she loses control
>Tiger flips over a cliff
>lands upside down on a rock
>35(t) drops a shell directly on the escape hatch
>/k/ unusable for days
>i honestly though that noriko was a boy
>It's amazing that [infantry tanks] can maintain their speed and move without breaking formation
What IS it about those "fox ears" of stuck out Nordic locks that "hots up" the Board Chested Erwin several dozen degrees? Or is it the intelligence in the eyes, or the "chicken lickin" fox half-smile, just KNOWING she is a millisecond from licking her lips? Much like the Classic Italian Sex-bomb Sophia Loren (three generations before most of you) the SUM of the parts has an effect that the parts do NOT explain.
Sure, anon. Yes, all of what you have said.
What's her name again?
Don't watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_iOcKZTJzw
Show me someone who's willing to assume they're already disabled. Oh wait, it doesn't matter because in the military orders take priority over common sense. Heck, retarded doctrine takes priority over common sense!
The countdown begins
