How is your nation represented in anime and manga, /a/?
>third world shithole where martial arts geniuses come from
>evil warmongering army of Mao Zedongs waiting to destroy Japan
19th century people with refined taste, wealthy weirdos and best girls most of the time.
A series that was honestly too good for this world. I really miss this'n.
Mio apparently came on holiday.
Don't know what the fuck she came to see though.
>I do not think my cultural region has ever appeared in Anime(Latin America)we are too exotic, foreign and weird, even for Japanese standards.
Latino ass all over Prison School m8
And fighting mangas always have that one Brazilian nigger
Filled with corrupt business men and politicians but every high school student wants to study there for a year.
I honestly don't even count Hetalia. Canada ain't got shit. Also, I don't care how bad the show or dub is, I would love to have seen Infinite Stratos have a girl with a true north accent.
Good Universities in the US either cost a ridiculous amount of money or require you to be a genius to get into them with a scholarship, so it isn't much better than higher education in most other countries.
>Went to college with 1/3 foreign undergrad pop
>They come over here with huge gov grant and daddy dosh
>Instantly buy a carton of Marlboros and GT mustang or a turbo Porsche
I fucking love asian foreign students.
Yep, Brazil. Best Universities here are totally free, too bad that our politics, economical situation and basic education are total shit tho. And dont make me even star about how shit we brazillians are to basically everyone else, including ourselves
In anime/manga my nation lost the second world war or never participated in the war in the pacific.
And from Ashita no Joe
With blonde sluts desperate for Jap D, like every almost other country.
A place where bunch of zombies appeared. Also where kiritsugu spent his childhood.
It was an earlier chapter where Tomoki, Ikaros, and Nymph went to the zoo. Naymph and Ikaros ended up letting out tons of animals and Tomoki was naked because why not.
This has confirmed my suspicions of SnO being way ahead of its time.
Not counting Hetalia.
There is a magic god from a certain light novel series.
And 2 albino sluts in a cooking manga.
Im amazed that two popular series arent just putting us together with the rest of Scandinavia like everyone else.
A powerful nation of brave warriors and beautiful architecture
trees and macdonalds
we don't have both of them though
Aside from I think Hetalia, there is one girl who writes on a pad paper in a show I've never seen.
New Zealand is a non-entity.though we do get mentioned in both Azumanga and Excel Saga off-handedly as a holiday destination in the former and a stopby in the latter.
ALLLLLLEXANDER THE GREEEEEEEEAT
HIS NAME STRUCK FEAR IN THE HEARTS OF MEN
>Wait you're telling me Greenland has people in it?
>How the fuck do you live in a country that's 99% ice?
by hunting reindeers and seals
we mostly live off by danish food products
I only hate the warcrime denying government anon
The first that comes to mind is Kuragehime. The original Inuyasha anime had the K-pop star Boa do their ending theme. The boyband Big Bang did the opening for the latest transformers anime. 2pm did the ending for Blue Exorcist. Yeah they all sang in Japanese, but that doesn't change the fact that the demand for Korean pop culture in Japan has never been higher. Also, there is a Koreatown in the Tokyo area.
Also, 2ch isn't really a good representation of how Japanese or even otaku view Koreans. Like for example, Romi Paku is Korean and she's a hugely popular VA.
For the most part, all the hate comes from Koreans to the Japanese. The Japanese really don't care.
I'm surprised there aren't more Latino/Hispanics in anime considering Peru has the second largest population of Japanese outside of Japan. The only Hispanic I've seen in anime was the assassin in Tokyo Godfathers
>Does the CCP ban lots of anime? How do you avoid getting sent to concentration camps?
None of that happens. They do ban anime from showing on TV but everyone watches anime online anyway
Chinese people are the victims of the cultural revolution??? I don't understand what you are trying to say, my family were the victims of the cultural revolution
>Also, 2ch isn't really a good representation of how Japanese or even otaku view Koreans.
Citation needed, 2ch is a hugely popular forum in Japan where even normalfags go on to vent their anger against Koreans and Chinese
>How do you live knowing the demographic effects of the one child policy have doomed your country to inevitable collapse in 15 years?
Same way you live knowing that your country is being invaded by Muslims and Africans if you are European and becoming a gigantic Detroit if you are American
2chan is only browsed by Japanese
4chan is browsed by Americans, British, Australians, New Zealand, French, Israeli, Canadians, Serbians, Croatians, Swedes, Finns, Danes, etc. etc.
Let's not forget Ricardo Espadas and the 5 Guerreros Aztecas team.
Can't remember any other examples.
My country is a cute girl. Couldn't ask for more.
Theres that one pilot in Shirobako
Surprisingly accurate. Well, except for the license plate format.
>psychopathic, incest-loving, vampire twins
If you take out the vampire part, you have yourself a Romanian alright.
Criminals and military or both. Well, this is somewhat understandable. Beside vodka, Russian mafia (which is barely present in Russia itself since illicit stuff is mostly handled by corrupt government-associated people) and that huge ass military with nukes and stuff are one of the first things to come to mind.
It posted itself for some reason, didnt get to add text. Whatever.
I've realized that when it's about Sweden it's mostly just our fighter jets.
I think they mentioned in K-ON that Mugis mom worked there or something tho.
Lesbians, psychopaths, autists, ojou-samas... all kinds of weirdos.
I have no idea what this conversation is about but, I'll say one thing, Akira has some of the best international politics of any Manga I've read since Black Lagoon. Also hate on BL all you want from a pop-culture perspective they do global politics pretty well.
I have seen 2 of my neighbors represented. They really over shade us.
I have seen myself and my younger cosine represented in historical manga about the turn of the century.
My big big big big neighbor has been represented quite a few times. He is sorta famous.
My brother in the south, i don't think i have seen him a lot in mango either. Not sure why. He is my other brothers rival.
Hot Girls, Cute Lolis and Cake eating shotas,
Like a nation of delicious brown and funky cool ass people with great sense of /fa/
>Caribbean or dutch
non-existent on both sides.
I've never seen New Zealand mentioned once in any Anime or Manga. And I'm kind of glad of that. I'd be happy if the world forgot we existed and we could live in peace and quiet.
I haven't been there in awhile, but I'd say around 50/50, with the french side being more modern, even though the dutch king promised patching up relationships with the caribbean and getting rid of corrpution and making it a better place to live
China has a lot of shitty laws. But most of them are never enforced.
Are you really going to waste your time hunting down people watching illegal Chinese cartoons on the internet?
I can only imagine getting paid a big fat Communist paycheck to ban shows that you don't like.
you forgot a very important character
arguably your greatest export next to
The first association in anime, when talking about Russia, should be lolis.
gone forever from the map
the only thing remains are scattered pieces of our language butchered even worse than english
pls no mobbing
>How is your nation represented in anime and manga, /a/?
I honestly don´t know
But within every unemployed person of the world lays a piece of Spain
>second biggest slavic nation
>no representation in mango and animu because we're not Russia
fuck you Rosja we war you
actual representation of a mobster
As cute blonde girls that like tea and cake.
Jojo is the only one to show true love for Italy.
In other anime Italy is just the country were the evil church creates super mystic soldiers, just think at Hellsing, Index of Fate.
I'm not a native american, but are there any besides Sandman?
Never mentioned except that one time in Gundam we got a colony dropped on us or something.
Funny how much butthurt there was defending them against the show's message of them being dirty for using UC bombing techniques. Or that they were playing the right kind of Gundam while everyone else was going super robo. People who felt that butthurt felt little bit Argentinian
Pretty damn accurately. There wouldn't be any story to tell in what's happening now, so atleast we got some history in fine detail.
We are irrelevant, I do wonder if the Japanese harbor any ill will towards us.
>Most recurrent european country in animu and mango
Surprisingly accurate, even down to the accent. At least in the dub.
don´t get me wrong, you are probably right. most Spaniards love sports, but as a matter of fact anime is still a big mystery for most of my countrymen,. it's really ironic that we are one of the few countries where loli is 100% legal
Canadian Man, the superhero from Canada, is one of the biggest loser hero in Kinnikuman.
Petty, cowardly, and weak.
We're good only for
>5 billion dollars of fishy money
whats that police show again with the jews being behind everything, I forgot it, it involved some female police officer and corruption, really didn't hold back punches when it came back to the jews
was it angel cop?
I also want to add, one of the top biggest name in Enka singers (possibly THE biggest female enka singer), Harumi Miyako is a Korean half.
Yeah, Enka music, associated with Japanese traditional and cultural pride.
Hell, what about Akiko Wada? The most powerful woman in the music industry in Japan for like the last half century? She's Korean too.
There's a fuck ton of zainichi korean celebrities in Japan.
The closest we got was some minor character that trained there for a month. Even then it was only mentionned
>I also want to add, one of the top biggest name in Enka singers (possibly THE biggest female enka singer), Harumi Miyako is a Korean half.
>Yeah, Enka music, associated with Japanese traditional and cultural pride.
There's a nigger singing Enka too, doesn't mean every Jap out there craves nigger dick
But that's not the argument you morons.
We're refuting the claim that "Japs don't want to see koreans on their TV" bullshit.
Because it's not true.
Jesus, learn how to follow conversations
Does Neo-Venezia count?
She just wants him to milch all over her eggs.
>I've never heard this before. In what regard are they better?
Not necessarily better for learning as an undergraduate. But far superior for research once you hit graduate level.
Fuck, I can't even think of anything with any Irish characters in it, so Northern Irish is out of the question
Deus-Ex Machina has a bunch.
Well so far ive only seen twice the occurance of dutch in anime first of all this guy.
Well my country wan't pictured but the general jap stereotype was.
The manliest blockiest white face and all either war-criminals or regular assassins for the east European mob.
Either that or some BIG MMA fighter with respectable self discipline and an orderly life.
This however fits every single slavic country in Europe so i'm going to give a clue (Lovro from Assassination Classroom).
Let's not forget Senor Tequila Gundam
It's the whole "4 cradles of civilization" thing the Japanese and Koreans seem to dig.
Also why despite being shown as the bad guy in many series, many other series consist of atleast one chinese character or have the Chinese culture and people playing a certain role in the story etc.
Hot, but crazy daughter of an even crazier mobster from Croatia. At least everyone in that series is either a hot babe or a killer, sometimes even both.
>meteorite hits Beunos Aires
i think we've had pretty good representation
there's the most bad ass character in one piece
We actually had to listen to their song in Japanese class as an example of spelling differences between Russian and Japanese languages. Fun times.
There's like four characters that are Icelandic, but Thorfinn is the best one so far. Been kind of a wild ride to notice Thorfinn's character development while going through adolescent as well.
Huge fighters or soccer players also Tsubaza's coach.
Like a bunch of pussies.
Do you have to ask?
The only one I can think of.
Isn't it the same manga as the one that's in the OP? Pretty sure it was just poking fun at all the big political figures in general.
What sort of newfag invasion is this? There are literally dozens of finnish characters in anime & manga. WELL KNOWN ones. Luvia (Fate), Sako (Upotte), Eila & rest of Suomus (Strike Witches), Aila (Gundam Build Fighters), Yin/Kirsi (DtB), etc.
In Aquarion Evolution there's a woman literally named Finland (Ms. Suomi) and dressed in finnish flag.
There's a manga about Simo Häyhä (that one WW2 sniper people keep comparing to Chris Kyle) as a cute girl.
These are just off the top of my head. Finland is strangely prevalent in japanese pop culture, considering its size and relevance.
There is pic related.
Nobody cares about you, Finland.
Not to mention Mananangal vampires in the Blade anime.
The Philippines friendly people but don't go out at night at the remote island provinces as you'll get your blood sucked.
The only other anime that depicted a Filipino was that Banana Guy in Nobunagun. He got killed along with the rest of Shio's military fans.
