Wow, light novels really are all the same shit, aren't they?
Good job finding that out now, OP.
Yep just like anime/manga.

Literally the trashiest of trash made by people who couldn't draw manga.
>>124982504
Seriously this.
People who complain about self-insert trash in anime and manga have never cracked open a LN
It's ten times worse, and in all regards
I can understand watching anime, it's got visuals, music, voice acting, animation etc.
I can even understand reading manga, the art can be nice.
But I can't understand why anyone would read LNs, they are the lowest form of writing and you're often reading shit translations. There's absolutely no reason to ever subject yourself to such torture. The fact a sizable group of anons here actually read LNs is disgusting.

>>124982629
They're just Japanese YA SciFi/Fantasy books. YA shit that leans hard on tropes is popular everywhere.
>>124982629
What if the anime ended on a cliffhanger and the only way to find out what happened is to read the LN.
>>124982678
That doesn't change our arguments, though
Besides, lots of series can lean on tropes and be good quality; that can't be said about LNs
Some LNs are better than others. They generally sit firmly on the trashy but entertaining side of things. Though I think a few like Rakuin no Monshou are genuinely good.
Mahouka is the best LN.
>>124982066
not really unless they are korean
( read moonlight sculptor or ark )
both korean and godlike novels
>>124982693
Wait for some anon to post spoilers. Nips can't into endings anyway so why even care?
No only the translated ones are. And since only haremshit gets translated it's easy to see why. Now what I want to know is why those are the only ones that ever gets translated.

Just like you were the smartest kid in the special class.
It's manga for people who can't draw. I would write them too if it meant making a quick buck with less effort.
S3 NEVER
The only LN worth reading.
>>124982066
Not all of them are the same trash, only 99% of them.
>It's manga for people who can't draw.
or write
>>124982066<< You're not gonna believe this Jean-Louis! They all have Hestia string insignias! >>
Light novels are equivalent to stuff 5th graders read, but more sexual.
>>124983462
more like YA novels
>>124983462
>5th graders
I read Goosebumps in grade one, yo.
>>124982982
They really can't, what's with that?
>>124983664
Because a lot of series just get cancelled so you get rushed endings.
Also Japs seem to really like open endings with very little closure.
>>124983445
You got me.
That's not true.
>>124983664
If it isn't popular, it gets cut off too soon.
If it gets too popular, it extends on forever and the author just can't finish it satisfactorily.
Satisfactorily is actually a word? Cool.
Zaregoto was quite good and well-written, though.
You'd think because it's limited to writing it would have better writing than anime.
but nope
