The visual novel is very deep and it's impossible to adapt to any anime or manga. It's hard to explain but you will see every character in a whole different aspect, the good parts and also the unexpected bad parts that you won't see in the anime. You get to know more about their thoughts, backstory and a lot of other stuff. It's incredible how emotional it will get you if you immerse yourself in it.

If you have never read it then you should absolutely do that. Maybe the Fate route will be the most "boring" route but when you get to UBW and then to HF you will kiss my feet for recommending the visual novel.

I am one of them but since the visual novel was pretty good i didn't mind at all.

If they get bored to death then they can just stop. There might be some boring parts but honestly i continued anyway, it was just too good.
