I might be a slow poke but the dominator scene was a frame by frame reference too.
Is this going to happen every week now, each episode will be devoted to referencing something?

The more I think about it a lot more things feel out of place, like i swear i recognize that scene with the papa getting shot up, almost like a hellsing scene. Is this whole show a collection of references and we haven't even noticed?

Could this even be on purpose too? Not as a hacky poor writing thing but as a meta story about memories. Think about it, what if things like recolored Nibutani, are on purpose?

Before we know it they will be talking directly to us, "Don't you remember this anon?" then weave it into some mind blowing too deep for you thing. Aotd incoming.

It's probably just bad writing though.
