It's perfectly okay to admit they aped Madoka in every way they could. In fact, they copied it so hard that when it came time to do something other than suffering, something original, the plot fell completely apart. Nothing wrong with that, everyone copies their betters.

Not particularly. The music is much more closer to Nier's soundtrack since it's the same composer and one of the singers is the same. Madoka's music was more heavy on orchestral strings and woodwinds while YuYuYu uses more percussion, piano, acoustic guitar and bells creepy/eerie sounds. Madoka's gibberish language is used in a way that's meant for you to focus more on the tune the voices are singing. The "lyrics" are soft. YuYuYu's gibberish language is meant to be eerie in that you don't quite know what they're saying. The chanting is jarring and uses hard sounds.
As weeb who likes to play anime music, I notice that Madoka's OST has catchier melodies and solos like in Decretum and Credens Justitiam, so they're easier to perform. But I find YuYuYu's OST is a better listen because a lot of the songs have a real sense of urgency and each instrument has an important contribution.

It's sort of like how the Puella Magi system encourages individuality due to competition while the Hero System encourages teamwork since everyone's working toward the goal of "don't let the world end". (Except Togo)

That difference is more of a result of the change in MG's targeted audiences, not something Madoka specifically created nor started. Remember magical girl shows started shifting toward male otakus because of Nanoha. You don't have 25+ episode MG shows anymore (with the exception of Precure) that mix in dark themes and light heart'd moments like Sailor Moon anymore. That's partly what made Yuyuyu a good magical girls show because it went back to MS roots by mixing both.
